XIAMEN, China, July 9, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Xtep, a leading Chinese performance sportswear brand, announces that applications for its inaugural global Elite Runner Program will close on July 14. The first edition of the program kicks off at Shenyang Marathon in China on September 14, offering elite runners worldwide exclusive access to premier marathons.
The program provides world-class athletes with a unique opportunity to pursue personal bests (PBs) at premier marathons. Beyond this, Xtep supports elite runners by sponsoring professional-grade Xtep race apparel & footwear, and covering entry fees and accommodations. Selected participants will also receive an exclusive tour of Xtep Innovation Center to experience firsthand advanced technologies powering the brand's performance running footwear. This initiative aims to provide elite runners with the platform and resources to achieve PB breakthroughs and gain greater exposure. It also fosters connections among top athletes for sharing experiences. Following Shenyang Marathon, the program continues with another three marquee marathons in China: Taiyuan (September 21), Xi'an (October 19), and Changsha (October 26).
Beyond empowering elite athletes, Xtep recognizes that the running community's essence lies in connection—a truth quantified by global research showing 74% of runners prioritize social bonds when running with others (World Athletics, 2022). To serve this spectrum of needs—from record-chasing professionals to community-seeking enthusiasts—the XRC Program integrates four strategic pillars: • Elite Runner Program: Extending invitations to elite runners globally to compete in China's premier marathons, Xtep directly supports their pursuit of speed and career-defining performances, by sponsoring top-tier competition gear to empower PB achievements on competitive racecourses.
• Regional Podium Program : Xtep equips elite runners with professional-grade race gear to compete in regional or World Athletics-certified global marathons, making them eligible for Xtep's record-breaking bonuses.
• X-RUN Camp: Providing professional coaching and structured training to support athletes during race preparation.
• XRC Activities: Fostering community through fun running activities, inclusive community runs, and knowledge-sharing platforms.
In parallel, Xtep continues to execute on its international growth strategy as the official apparel sponsor of the upcoming Hanoi Marathon in Vietnam this November, underscoring its commitment to the Southeast Asian market. The event organizers are currently recruiting certified pacers, with details of a dedicated training camp to be announced in October. Participants can follow updates on the event's official channels, including its Facebook page (@Standard Chartered Hanoi Marathon - Heritage Race) and the Pacer Recruitment Post.
Through the XRC Program, Xtep is building a dynamic, athlete-first running platform to support elite athletes, engage everyday runners, and partner with races worldwide. By bridging competition and community, training and racing, as well as connecting China to the global running scene, Xtep is helping define the future of the sport. Looking ahead, the brand remains focused on growing the global running culture through performance-driven products and innovative runner services.

China's exports up 5.8% in June as tariffs reprieve prompts rush of orders

China's exports accelerated in June as a reprieve on US tariffs prompted a rush of orders by companies and consumers. Exports climbed 5.8per cent from a year earlier, up from a 4.8per cent rise in May. Imports also recovered, growing 1.1per cent in the first increase so far this year, according to customs data released Monday. Exports to the United States fell 16per cent but that was less than half the 34.5per cent drop seen in May. After US President Donald Trump imposed tariffs of up to 245per cent on imports from China and Beijing responded with its own steep import duties, the two sides agreed to hold back to allow time for talks. But preliminary discussions between the two sides have yet to produce significant progress. In the meantime, the Trump administration has hiked tariffs on imports from China by 35per cent, pending an Aug 12 deadline for reverting to the higher tariffs Washington and Beijing have delayed for now. The recovery in trade is expected to help boost economic growth in the April to June quarter. The Chinese government is due to report those figures on Tuesday. EAM Jaishankar raises trade roadblocks in talks with Chinese counterpart Wang Yi

External affairs minister S Jaishankar on Monday held a meeting with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in Beijing and raised the issue of restrictive trade measures and roadblocks to economic cooperation in the backdrop of restrictions on rare earth magnet supplies to India. He also brought up the issue of faster de-escalation along LAC in eastern Ladakh and the two sides agreed to take additional practical steps, including travel to each other's country and direct flight connectivity, for facilitating people-to-people exchanges, said the external affairs ministry. "The EAM highlighted the positive impact of peace and tranquillity in the border for smooth development in bilateral relations and supported continued efforts towards de-escalation and border management. He underlined the need for cooperation on trans-border rivers, including resumption of provision of hydrological data by the Chinese side. He also took up restrictive trade measures and roadblocks to economic cooperation," said a statement issued by the ministry. "Our bilateral relationship requires that we take a far-seeing approach to our ties... We have made good progress in the past nine months for the normalisation of our bilateral relations. It is a result of the resolution of friction along the border and our ability to maintain peace and tranquillity there. This is the fundamental basis for mutual strategic trust and for smooth development of bilateral relations," Jaishankar told Wang. ET had reported that India and China could discuss a range of contentious issues, including the Dalai Lama's succession and the recent Indo-Pak tensions when Jaishankar meets Wang Yi. Jaishankar and Wang Yi reviewed the overall state of India-China bilateral relationship. Jaishankar appreciated China's cooperation for the resumption of the Kailash Manasarovar yatra. He offered India's support for a successful Shanghai Cooperation Organisation presidency amid expectations of the PM's visit for the summit.

India must recognise it is not alone in facing U.S. pressure since the U.S. is currently negotiating with more than 20 countries and seeking concessions from more than 90, the organisation has added.
