Syrian presidency condemns "Israeli" strike on palace as 'dangerous escalation'

Roya News02-05-2025
The Syrian presidency strongly condemned the bombing that targeted the presidential palace on Thursday, holding the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) responsible for what it called a "dangerous escalation" and a "violation of the state's sovereignty and institutions." The attack, it said, was a sign of "reckless actions aimed at destabilizing the country and worsening its security crises."
In an official statement, the presidency affirmed that the strike "targets national security and the unity of the Syrian people," calling on the international community and Arab nations to "stand with Syria in the face of these aggressions that violate international laws and conventions."
The statement added, "The Presidency of the Republic calls on Arab countries to unify their positions and express their full support for Syria in confronting these attacks, in a manner that ensures the preservation of Arab peoples' rights to resist Israeli aggressive practices."
The Syrian presidency stressed that these aggressions "will not succeed in weakening the will of the Syrian people" or hindering its efforts "to achieve stability and peace across all regions." It noted that the competent security agencies are "continuing the necessary investigations to pursue those responsible for these attacks," and that the state "will continue to act firmly to prevent any threats to the homeland and its citizens."
The presidency reiterated its call for "all parties to commit to dialogue and cooperation within the framework of national unity," and to confront "all attempts at disruption aimed at prolonging the crisis." It affirmed that "Syria is moving forward on the path of reconstruction and revival, and the wheels of reform will not stop no matter the challenges."

Hamas: Trump and Witkoff's Remarks Do Not Reflect the Reality of Negotiations - Jordan News

The Palestinian movement Hamas stated on Saturday that remarks made by former U.S. President Donald Trump and his Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff—claiming that Hamas rejected a ceasefire agreement in Gaza—"contradict the assessments of mediators and do not align with the actual progress of the negotiation process." اضافة اعلان In a statement issued by senior Hamas official Izzat al-Risheq, the movement expressed surprise at the statements made by Trump and Witkoff. On Friday, Trump claimed that Hamas "was never really interested in a deal," a day after U.S. and Israeli delegations withdrew from the Doha negotiations regarding a prisoner exchange and ceasefire in Gaza. On Thursday night, Witkoff alleged that Hamas's latest response to the ceasefire proposal demonstrated its "lack of seriousness" about reaching an agreement. However, Egypt and Qatar issued a joint statement on Friday, clarifying that the suspension of talks was for consultation purposes before resuming discussions—something considered normal given the complexity of the negotiations between Israel and Hamas. Al-Risheq noted that the remarks by Trump and Witkoff came at a time when mediating parties, especially Qatar and Egypt, were "expressing satisfaction and appreciation for our serious and constructive stance." He stressed that the U.S. statements "ignore the true obstacle to all agreements: the government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, which continuously places obstacles, stalls, and evades commitments." He affirmed that Hamas has approached the negotiations "with national responsibility and high flexibility from the beginning," aiming to reach a comprehensive agreement that halts the aggression and alleviates the suffering of the people in Gaza. Al-Risheq explained that the movement's recent response to the ceasefire proposal presented by mediators came "after extensive national consultations with Palestinian factions, mediators, and friendly countries." He added: "We responded positively and flexibly to all proposed comments within the framework of Witkoff's own document, while emphasizing the need for clarity in the terms—especially regarding the humanitarian aspect—and for guarantees of a steady and large-scale flow of aid to be distributed through the United Nations and its accredited agencies, without interference from the occupation." He also noted that Hamas, in its response, sought to "reduce the depth of buffer zones where Israeli forces would remain for 60 days, and to avoid densely populated areas to allow the return of most displaced residents." Al-Risheq called on the U.S. administration to stop "absolving the occupation and providing it with political and military cover to continue its genocide and starvation campaign against more than two million people in Gaza." He also urged Washington to play a genuine role in "pressuring the Israeli government to engage seriously in reaching an agreement that ends the aggression and achieves a prisoner exchange deal." In the statement, Al-Risheq rejected U.S. accusations that Hamas had stolen aid, describing them as "false and baseless." Following the remarks by Trump and Witkoff, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated on X (formerly Twitter) that Israel is discussing "alternatives" with the United States for retrieving Israeli hostages from Gaza and ending Hamas's rule. Netanyahu did not specify what those alternatives are, while Israeli opposition figures and families of the hostages continue to insist that the only viable solution is an agreement with Hamas. This comes as Hamas has repeatedly expressed its readiness to release all Israeli prisoners "in one batch" in exchange for an end to the genocide and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza. Earlier today, Palestinian political analysts told Anadolu Agency that Witkoff's remarks about withdrawing the U.S. delegation from Doha constitute political pressure and a media maneuver aimed at influencing the ongoing negotiations. Since July 6, indirect negotiations between Hamas and Israel have been taking place in Doha, mediated by Qatar and Egypt and supported by the United States, with the goal of reaching a ceasefire and prisoner exchange deal. Since October 7, 2023, Israel has waged a campaign of genocide in Gaza—characterized by killing, starvation, destruction, and forced displacement—ignoring all international appeals and defying orders from the International Court of Justice to cease its actions. This campaign, backed by the United States, has resulted in over 203,000 Palestinian casualties (killed and wounded), most of them children and women, with over 9,000 missing, hundreds of thousands displaced, and a famine that has claimed many lives. – (Anadolu)

GHF whistleblower reveals ‘Israeli' war crimes at Gaza aid sites

A former security contractor for the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), an aid group supported by the United States and 'Israel', has made explosive allegations to BBC, saying he has witnessed the 'Israeli' military shooting at crowds of Palestinians. He added that never saw such 'brutality and use of indiscriminate and unnecessary force against a civilian population, an unarmed, starving population'. The whistleblower, Sergeant Lieutenant Anthony Aguilar, former veteran of the US Special Force, recounted disturbing incidents, particularly one where an 'Israeli' tank firing a main gun tank round from a Merkava tank into a crowd of people. 'Destroying a car of civilians that were simply driving away from the [aid] site,' Aguilar added, 'I witnessed mortar rounds being fired at the crowds of people to keep them controlled,' he continued. Aguilar described the setup of the aid sites as 'amateurish'. 'Inexperienced, untrained, no idea of how to conduct operations of this magnitude,' Aguilar said that his 'benign' assessment from his time serving in the GHF. 'In my most frank assessment, I would say they are criminal. In my entire career have I never witnessed the level of brutality and use of indiscriminate and unnecessary force.' The GHF, established in February 2025 and funded by the US government, was intended as an alternative to the UN-led aid system, which 'Israel' and the US claimed was susceptible to Hamas diversion. The GHF has denied Aguilar's testimony, calling them "categorically false" and claimed that he is merely a 'disgruntled former contractor who was terminated for misconduct.' Aguilar in return denied the GHF's claims. Widespread Condemnation and Civilian Casualties The GHF's operational model, led by military contractors and operating with "Israeli government oversight" but "without transparency, independence, or accountability," has drawn widespread condemnation. The UN and over 170 charities have refused to cooperate with the GHF, demanding its closure and accusing it of "politicizing and 'weaponizing aid'". Former GHF Executive Director Jake Wood resigned, stating it was "not possible to implement this plan while also strictly adhering to the humanitarian principles". Alarmingly, aid distribution at GHF sites has been described as a "death trap". As of July 15, 'Israeli' forces had killed nearly 700 Palestinians and injured hundreds more at or near GHF distribution points. The UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) recorded 766 killings in the vicinity of GHF sites by July 22, 2025, with the Gaza Health Ministry tracing 70% of hundreds of aid-related deaths to GHF locations by July 1.

French MP: The Complete Liberation of Palestine Is Inevitable - Jordan News

French Member of Parliament Thomas Portes stated that the complete liberation of Palestine is 'inevitable' and that 'nothing—neither Israel nor anyone else—will stop it.' اضافة اعلان His statement comes after French President Emmanuel Macron announced on Thursday that France intends to recognize the State of Palestine at the United Nations General Assembly in September, expressing hope that this step would contribute to achieving peace in the Middle East. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had previously condemned France's announcement, calling it 'a reward for terrorism' and claiming it posed 'an existential threat to Israel.' A statement from Netanyahu warned that the move could 'lead to the creation of a new Iranian proxy, just as Gaza has become,' suggesting that this could become 'a launching pad for the annihilation of Israel rather than coexistence.' Meanwhile, several Arab and foreign nations welcomed Macron's announcement. Jordan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates welcomed the French president's intention to recognize the State of Palestine during the UN General Assembly in September. Ministry spokesperson Dr. Sufian Qudah emphasized Jordan's appreciation for the decision, describing it as an important step toward implementing the two-state solution and ending the occupation. He added that the announcement aligns with international efforts to recognize a sovereign Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital. Egypt also welcomed the move, describing it as a pivotal and historic step that supports international efforts to realize an independent Palestinian state. Qatar issued a similar statement, emphasizing that France's intention to recognize Palestine represents crucial support for the Palestinian people's legitimate rights and the international consensus on ending the Israeli occupation and enabling Palestinians to exercise their right to self-determination. Oman praised Macron's historic announcement and called on all countries that have not yet recognized Palestine to take similar steps to reinforce the two-state solution and the Palestinian people's legitimate right to establish their state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital. The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) also welcomed the French president's announcement. Secretary-General Hussein Ibrahim Taha called it a significant move consistent with international law and a continuation of France's supportive stance on Palestinian rights. Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassim Mohammad Al-Budaiwi, expressed his welcome and appreciation for Macron's declaration. The Arab Parliament likewise welcomed the French step, and Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin praised Macron's statement, noting that France would be the first G7 country to take such a step.
