Virgin River's Alexandra Breckenridge forced to issue warning as she's left 'baffled'

Daily Mirror2 days ago
Virgin River star Alexandra Breckenridge has been left reeling after coming face-to-face with a deepfake video of herself
Virgin River actress Alexandra Breckenridge has been compelled to address another social media fraud targeting the stars of the popular Netflix drama.

Her fellow cast member Martin Henderson has likewise found himself issuing alerts to supporters who might have fallen victim to fake Instagram profiles.

Sharing on her Stories recently, Breckenridge reshared a warning from a follower who had discovered an artificial intelligence-generated clip featuring the star's appearance.

The concerned fan revealed the fraudulent footage was prompting viewers to access a Telegram profile to reach Henderson, whilst encouraging others to flag the bogus account.
The alert stated: "This video was created be AI. Don't be fooled!" adding "Alex will NEVER promote Martin's account.", reports the Mirror US.

It continued: "Martin only has one Instagram account. He will never contact his fans on any social media platform."
The warning also featured a screenshot from the authentic 2023 footage of Breckenridge that had been manipulated to create the counterfeit content.
Responding to the alert, the actress added her own commentary: "Wow, that's a trip. That's not me at all."

She subsequently shared a bewildered-looking selfie before delivering a wry comeback, highlighting the fake video's puzzling Australian pronunciation.
Addressing her 1.3 million followers, she declared: "That was my response to that, that's not me.
"I don't have an accent, as such. I am an American, I speak in an American accent.

"Which could be anything from, like, Valley Girl, to, like, New York, I could be from Brooklyn? I could live down South."

Breckenridge humorously adopted the tone of a Southern belle to address a bizarre social media scam, taking it all in good fun.
"There's so many accents in the US," she quipped. "But this is how I sound, which is, I guess, just like a pretty normal American accent. Not me, AI! That was AI."
Her lighthearted video follows a similar incident involving Henderson, who had to warn fans about an impersonator after one fan was conned out of $375,000 (£276,000).
Fans can rest assured they'll soon see the genuine Breckenridge and Henderson, as the duo have wrapped up filming for their seventh season as Mel Monroe and Jack Sheridan, set to release later in the year.
Virgin River is available to stream on Netflix.

Don't ask what Sally Hawkins keeps in the freezer

There are the horror movies that make you jump out of your skin and there are the horror movies that get under your skin and stay there. The Australian film-making brothers Danny and Michael Philippou were responsible for the extremely well-made Talk to Me (2023) — a séance-gone-awry shocker full of horrifying images of self-harm and the squelchiest sound design of any film in recent memory. You couldn't look away from the screen because then it was somehow worse. Now they are back with something similar — Bring Her Back is a tale of grief and dread with horrifying images of self-harm and squelchy sound design — all wrapped around a modern-day version of Hansel and Gretel. The witch of the story is a former child counsellor named Laura (Sally Hawkins) who lives in a cabin in the woods. Decorated in cheerful, hippy-dippy colours, it has a taxidermied dog, a mysterious chalk circle and an empty swimming pool in which Laura lost her daughter to drowning. Now she keeps a little feral boy (Jonah Wren Phillips), shaven-headed and mute, locked in a room. You don't want to know what she keeps in the freezer. All this would surely constitute enough red flags to set any foster agency on high alert (has nobody learnt the lesson from Psycho about taxidermied animals?), but the film's secret weapon is Hawkins, from Mike Leigh's Happy Go Lucky and Paddington. Dressed in reassuring knits, she rabbits away in a stream-of-consciousness fashion that pushes her flaky persona to the edge of unsettling and cloaks her trespasses with a chipper smile. The latest unsuspecting adoptees to come under her care are 17-year-old Andy (Billy Barratt) and his younger, partially sighted sister, Piper (Sora Wong), who have been assigned to Laura after the death of their father. Everyone seems to be grieving somebody. As with Talk to Me, you're not sure whether you're in for a horrorfest or a counselling marathon. What we get is a mix of the two — a marathon of gaslighting — as Andy smells a rat and Laura does everything she can to turn his sister against him. • The best films of 2025 so far Disappointingly, the film is far more interested in Andy than Piper, who is exploited for traditional blind-girl-in-peril frights. The idea that she is slower than her brother to notice Laura's evil vibe is unimaginative to say the least: wouldn't her sixth sense be more developed? I would have loved to have seen a film from her point of view, blur and all. True, she cannot see the grainy snatches of video that Laura has on repeat in her living room that tip us off to the horrifying ritual to come. You want to look away and you don't dare because, as with Talk to Me, the greatest shocks are delivered by the sound engineer Emma Bortignon's sound mix, one that goes way beyond the stabbed watermelons of countless horror films. Get ready to be excruciated by the sound of kitchen knife on gums, and teeth on splintering wood. You cannot say you haven't been warned.★★★★☆18, 104min August will go down as the month Pedro Pascal earned his movie star spurs. He's in three films this summer, starting with The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Matt Shakman's reboot of the Marvel comic book, in which Pascal plays Reed Richards, the elasticated superhero at the head of a family of superheroes, including Johnny Storm (Joseph Quinn), Ben Grimm (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) and Sue Storm (Vanessa Kirby), who has a baby on the way. Can they juggle saving the world with childcare? Will the baby also be superpowered? Will they need extra-strong diapers? Does this set-up sound the teensiest bit familiar? Set in a retro 1960s world of chrome and neon, Fantastic Four: First Steps is probably best thought of as an intermittently entertaining live-action remake of Brad Bird's 2004 classic, The Incredibles. (Shakman even nabbed Michael Giacchino for the score.) The film is at its best in the first 20 minutes when it introduces everyone — with the Human Torch, Johnny Storm, coming in handy during a power cut, and Sue Storm making herself invisible to provide her own ultrasound. Her greatest trick, though — probably the film's best moment — is giving birth in zero gravity while escaping the pull of a black hole, which makes the real-time childbirth that Kirby enacted for Pieces of a Woman (2020) look like a walk in the park. • Read more film reviews, guides about what to watch and interviews But oh dear, the plot, which follows the time-honoured Marvel two-step: introduce the villain, then kill time for two hours waiting for him to arrive and play wrecking ball with New York. The villain is a lumbering galactic deity named Galactus (Ralph Ineson), who plans to destroy Earth unless the four hand over little baby Franklin. As a plot idea this is something of a nonstarter, involving a lot of tedious wrangling from which no one — not the Fantastic Four, nor the people of Earth demanding the baby's sacrifice — comes out looking good. The climactic bout is a ferocious yawn. Once you've seen one skyscraper crumble like cake, you've seen them all.★★★☆☆12A, 95min Times+ members can enjoy two-for-one cinema tickets at Everyman each Wednesday. Love Is Blind star, 29, shows off results of hair transplant and reveals staggering five-figure sum it cost him

"But there's a lot of things that come with that, and I'll explain that as well.' In the video, Jimmy told his nearly 90,000 followers that he booked in with Solve Clinics, based in the River North area of Chicago. He added: 'They charge roughly $5 a graft. I had a little over 2,000 grafts, I think 2,100 or 2,200. So roughly 10, 11 grand for the procedure." While many people head to countries like Turkey for cheaper treatment, Jimmy said he wasn't keen on that route. He said: 'When I was going through the evaluation process, I was getting quotes anywhere from $3,000 to $5,000. 'It included flight, it included hotel, all that good stuff, but there was no ongoing consultation or talking to your surgeon. "So they just pretty much send you home after the surgery. You don't really have any type of relationship.' Alongside the transplant itself, he's also been paying for extra treatments to boost the results. He explained: 'I have been doing PRP, which I've made some videos on that and what that kind of entails, and those typically run anywhere from 400 to $600,' referring to platelet-rich plasma therapy. First look at Love Is Blind UK series two with Matt and Emma Willis as Netflix reveals launch date Jimmy first documented the procedure back in December, posting daily updates as he healed. Just three days after going under the knife, he revealed: 'It's swollen bad. It hurts to smile, it hurts to laugh. My head definitely feels super dry.' He also made it clear the goal wasn't to wind the clock back completely, adding: 'I didn't want to try to have a hairline of a 17 or 18-year-old. It's not realistic. "I wanted to look my age and have thicker, healthier-looking hair. That's the goal here.' More recently, Jimmy marked the six-month point since surgery by posting a progress update on Instagram for his 274,000 followers. 'Officially 6 months post hair transplant with @solveclinics,' he captioned the clip. 'Super excited where I'm at already! Even more excited to see where it'll go!' Leaning in to show his new hairline, he told viewers: 'I saw a ton of growth in months four, five, and six.' And now? 'It's getting thicker and thicker as the days go on.' Jimmy shot to fame earlier this year when he appeared on Love Is Blind, where his ex-fiancée Chelsea made headlines for comparing herself to Megan Fox. Hair Loss 101 HAIR pro Samantha Cusick has revealed everything you need to know about hair loss. Why Does Hair Loss Happen? Hair loss can be influenced by so many factors, from genetics and hormone changes to lifestyle choices. Stress, diet, and even hair care habits can all impact hair strength. It's perfectly normal to lose some hair each day, but sometimes the body can shed more than usual, responding to things like hormonal shifts or even life stressors. Why It Happens More This Time of Year Have you ever noticed your hair seems to shed more in autumn? That's seasonal shedding! During summer, we hold onto extra hair to protect our scalp from the sun. As the weather cools, it's like our body recalibrates and lets go of those extra strands. Dry, cooler air can also make hair more brittle, making it easier to lose a little extra volume during these months. Hacks and Affordable Buys to Treat Hair loss The great news? You don't need to spend a fortune on pricey treatments to support your hair. Try daily scalp massages—they're so simple but really help boost blood flow to the follicles. Castor oil is another fantastic, budget-friendly option that's rich in nutrients to strengthen your strands. Adding a bit more protein to your diet and a biotin supplement can also work wonders for overall hair health. Products to Avoid Steer clear of products with high levels of alcohol, sulphates, and parabens - they can be drying and damage hair over time. Heat styling and chemical treatments can also cause breakage, so try to use them sparingly. Instead, look for gentle, hydrating formulas to support your scalp and keep hair healthier through the seasons. 4 Jimmy paid $11k for the procedure Credit: Instagram 4 He is pictured on the day of the op Credit: Instagram
