Royel Otis Announce 2025 North American ‘Meet Me in the Car' Tour Dates
Australian indie-rock duo Royel Otis have announced another run of U.S. tour dates, with the group detailing their latest round of shows while in the country.
Announced on Monday (May 5), news of the group's Meet Me in the Car tour coincides with the first of two sold-out shows at the Troubadour in Los Angeles on Monday and Tuesday. The 12-date run of shows launches in Philadelphia at the Franklin Music Hall on Sept. 12 before wrapping up in New York City at The Rooftop at Pier 17 on Oct. 11.

Following their current Los Angeles shows, the Sydney duo will perform at both New York City's Governors Ball Music Festival and Tennessee's Bonnaroo festival ahead of a run of festival dates throughout Europe, the U.K., and North America before launching their own headline shows in September.
Royel Otis first formed in 2019, releasing a series of EPs between 2021 and 2023 before issuing their debut album, Pratts & Pain in 2024. Though their 'Sofa King' track reached No. 12 on the Alternative Airplay chart in 2023, the band found widespread fame last year following their cover of Sophie Ellis-Bextor's 'Murder on the Dancefloor' for Australian radio station triple j's Like a Version series.
The cover topped the Alternative Airplay charts and also peaked at No. 41 on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart. The group's penchant for covers was again felt when their SiriusXM session rendition of The Cranberries' 'Linger' was released, giving them their first appearance on the Hot 100 when it reached No. 94.
In late 2024, Royel Otis won four ARIA Awards from eight nominations, including best group and best rock album, while producer Chris Collins won best produced release and best engineered release for Pratts & Pain.
Currently, Royal Otis are ostensibly preparing the launch of their latest era, having recently overhauled their socials with a largely minimalist approach. Alongside noting that 'there will be singing. and dancing. and new music' alongside their latest tour announcement, the group have been teasing a song which 'may or may not be called 'Moody'' for a May 9 release.

NYC Pride Parade 2025: Route, time, themes, and how to watch live for free
The entire month of June is dedicated to celebrating the LGBTQ+ community and its many accomplishments and contributions to society. It is also important to take a moment to reflect on the struggles faced by this community and the work still left to be done against intolerance. Since Pride can directly trace its origins back to New York City, it is only fitting that the Big Apple hold a big parade. This year's march takes place today (Sunday, June 29, 2025) at 11 a.m. ET Although some companies have scaled back their fanfare due to an anti-DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) climate, one could argue that makes this year all the more important. Let's take a look at the beginnings of pride, this year's focus, and how to catch the parade both in person and on television. A brief history of the NYC Pride March While many call the festivities a parade, Heritage of Pride, the nonprofit behind Pride events in New York City, prefers the moniker march. That's because of the activist roots of the event. The march specifically honors the anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising of 1969. During the 1960s, same-sex public displays of affection such as kissing, holding hands, or even dancing were illegal, so bars owned by organized crime groups became places of refuge for the community where they could express themselves freely with out fear. When police raided the Stonewall Inn on the morning of June 28, it angered bar patrons and those who witnessed the police harassment. A weeklong protest helped invigorate the modern gay rights movement. The following year, a march from the Stonewall Inn to Central Park was held to commemorate the event. In 1999, President Bill Clinton made the first official presidential proclamation declaring June Pride Month. In 2016, President Barack Obama made the Stonewall Inn a national monument. The anti-DEI movement and Pride's response President Donald Trump's second administration has rolled back many DEI initiatives, causing a ripple effect. As a result, many corporations have not been as enthusiastic in their allyship the year. A Gravity Research survey of more than 200 corporate executives found 39% are scaling back in 2025, with zero individuals reporting an increase. Sixty-one percent cited the Trump administration, conservative forces, and Republican policymakers as the reason for this shift. 'Rise up: Pride in Protest,' this year's theme, appears to be a defiant reaction to the current political climate. If those in power won't recognize the community, the people must step up. 'We must support one another, because when the most marginalized among us are granted their rights, all of us benefit,' Kazz Alexander, NYC Pride co-chair, said in a statement. 'Pride is not merely a celebration of identity—it is a powerful statement of resistance, affirming that justice and equity will ultimately prevail for those who live and love on the margins.' This weekend, June will go out with a bang with multiple highly anticipated parades that draw marchers and spectators to communities big and small. Pride Month commemorates the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in New York City, where subsequent protests are credited with a shift in LGBTQ+ activism in the U.S. Being the birthplace of Pride as we know it, New York City has one of the biggest and most iconic celebrations and marches each year. This year's theme is "Rise up: Pride in Protest," according to organizers. "As the LGBTQIA+ community faces increasing hostility and legislative attacks, this year's theme is a reflection of the Pride movement's origins in protest—and is a powerful call to action for our communities and allies to rally and march in defiant celebration, advocacy and solidarity," said Heritage of Pride. The NYC Pride March is scheduled to begin Sunday, June 29, at 11 a.m. ET. This year's parade route begins on 5th Avenue between 25th Street and 8th Street, according to the New York City Department of Transportation. Marchers will proceed south on 5th Avenue and walk west on 8th Street. After crossing over 6th Avenue, the March will continue on Christopher Street, passing the Stonewall National Monument. It will then turn north on 7th Avenue, passing the New York City AIDS Memorial, before dispersing in Chelsea at 16th Street and 7th Avenue. In-person viewing of the 2024 March will be available along the route streets listed above. Experienced Pride-goers suggest nabbing a spot along the main stretches early, as crowds can get thick. The yearly broadcast of the event is set to air on ABC7, ABC News Live and and on the ABC7 YouTube channel and will begin at noon.
