Luis Enrique hopes ‘very difficult journey' to CL final ends with glory for PSG
PSG will contest their second European final when they face Inter Milan at Allianz Arena and aim to go one better than in the 2020 loss to Bayern Munich.

Champions League success has been the holy grail for PSG's owners Qatar Sports Investment since they acquired a majority share in 2011, but Luis Enrique's team were in dangerous of a league-phase exit after a run of three defeats in four.

A 4-2 win over Manchester City in January revitalised their campaign and after tricky knockout ties with Brest, Liverpool, Aston Villa and Arsenal were navigated, Ligue 1 champions PSG enter this final with 28 wins from the 34 fixtures they have played in 2025.
Luis Enrique, a winner in this competition with Barcelona a decade ago, plans a repeat against 2023 runners-up Inter.
'What I tried to transmit to the players is that we have been on a very difficult journey,' Luis Enrique told a press conference.

'We have had to play in top-level games since the start of the Champions League. The fact that it was hard at the start could be an advantage for us now because we are used to playing in these games.
'We played in the stadium against Munich, a team that is one of the best in Europe and we played in finals before. We are ready. We have not been scared at all this season so we are going to take to the pitch at our best tomorrow.
'I have more experience now from the last few years. I try to transmit to my team and my players the importance of playing in the Champions League final and the chance to make history.

'Making history means doing something that nobody has ever done before you at a club like Paris St Germain, so that is very important and it needs to be managed carefully so that it doesn't overwhelm us.

PSG captain Marquinhos featured in the 2020 loss to Bayern, which occurred behind closed doors due to coronavirus restrictions.
Marquinhos has shared a dressing room with superstars Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, but expressed his love for this current group.
He said: 'I have played in so many teams over the years here, but we are certainly enjoying it here on a daily basis and in every match.

'You can see the way we all run together, how we understand one another on the pitch, so there is the influence in our results. I am in love with this team, with everything we do on the pitch for one another and it is a pleasure to be a part of it.
'It is a great opportunity tomorrow to make history here as a club and for all the players here. It is a second opportunity for me to play in the Champions League final and I don't want to let if pass me by.'

Ousmane Dembele has enjoyed an extraordinary campaign with 33 goals to become one of the favourites for the Ballon d'Or, but played down its significance.
'When you are a player at Paris St Germain, the most important thing is to win the Champions League. I am focused on the team and not on individual accolades,' Dembele insisted.

'I am pleased with what we have done since January. We have changed our mentality and we are going to try to keep it going and go all the way.'

I suppose if you've paid your Rangers TV subscription you might as well watch the game and just pray Rangers get pumped. "I only watch Celtic against Rangers or when they are getting their regular humiliations in Europe. Maybe they just guessed what actually happened? Panathinaikos were foiled 3 times by Jack Butland whose job is to keep the opposition out. Against 11 then 10 men Rangers were eventually totally dominant and could easily have scored six to finish the tie whereas at only two it's still open." And in the capital, a 1-1 draw away to Midtjylland was a creditable result for Hibs who have set up a thrilling decider at Easter Road. Joe Rothwell urges Rangers to kill off Panathinaikos tie
Joe Rothwell believes Rangers have to consider themselves in the box seat going into their crucial Champions League qualifier against Panathinaikos next Wednesday. The 30-year-old midfielder, signed from Bournemouth this summer, made his Gers debut in the 2-0 win over the 10-man Greek side at Ibrox on Tuesday night. Russell Martin's men struggled for the most part before decisive goals from 19-year-old Findlay Curtis and debutant Djeidi Gassama, either side of Panathinaikos right-back Giorgos Vagiannidis receiving his marching orders after picking up the second of two yellow cards for a foul on Curtis. Ahead of the second leg in Athens – which follows a friendly against Middlesbrough at Ibrox on Saturday – Rothwell was asked if the Light Blues can feel in command of the tie. 'I think we have to now, yeah,' he said. 'Obviously, 2-0, it's a good scoreline, especially in this format. 'So we'll go out there and obviously we won't be looking to defend it. We'll try and go out there and win the game and score as many goals as we can. 'It (2-0 win) can be huge. I think he (Martin) said in his press conference, it was not going to be a season-defining game but we wanted to go out there and put a show on and really show how he wants to do things. 'I think we managed to do that, controlled the game as we like to do and just a bit disappointed that we didn't go and probably kill the game off a little bit more.' The Light Blues should have been behind before Curtis opened the scoring in the 52nd minute, with Martin having to settle his new charges down at the interval before an improved performance in the second half. Rothwell said: 'He said to just stick to what we do. 'We went away from it a little bit, in terms of how we want to play, and in the first 10, 15 (minutes) I think we started the game really well and then probably came away from it a little bit. 'And then obviously with them going down to 10 men, we've managed to control the game and probably disappointed we didn't probably get a few more in the end, but we can't complain, it's a win and we take a lead over there.' Rothwell was impressed and inspired by his first taste of a European night at Ibrox. He said: 'Loved it. Obviously you hear stories from the outside, but when you actually get out there and experience it, it's fantastic and I'm sure the fans are going to be behind us in every single game and we'll need them. 'There'll be times where it might be a bit tough for us, but I'm sure they'll get behind us and then get us over the finish line. 'I think you can really see what the manager wants us to do and how we want to play and I thought it was obviously another good test for us and we came through it in the end.'
