When is top LSU football target Lamar Brown going to reveal his commitment?

USA Todaya day ago
The time for top-LSU 2026 target Lamar Brown's commitment announcement is counting down.
Louisiana's top prospect will announce his choice between four schools on July 10. Brown narrowed the decision down to LSU, Texas A&M, Florida State, and Miami in early March.
Brown logged the last official visit of his recruiting cycle on June 20 when he took a trip to Baton Rouge. The Erwinville native is the No. 5 prospect in the country, per 247 Sports' Composite Rankings. The system also lists him as the top defensive lineman in class, but he is considered an athlete by On3 due to his talent on both sides of the ball.
Recruiting outlets are split between the Tigers and the Aggies on where Brown will play college football. The decision looms large for head coach Brian Kelly as his staff built the 2026 class on keeping the best homegrown talent in the state. Letting Brown slip to an SEC rival would hurt.
Brown would be the third five-star prospect in LSU's 2026 class if he chooses the Tigers, joining wide receiver Tristen Keys and defensive lineman Richard Anderson. He would also be the eighth Louisiana native in LSU's group, which ranks sixth nationally and third in the conference.

Three Tigers ranked as the top players at their position in EA Sports College Football 26

Mel Kiper explains why Clemson will have multiple first-round picks in 2026 NFL Draft Clemson football fans will have no shortage of star power to rely on when they boot up EA Sports College Football 26 this summer. Several Tigers landed among the highest-rated players in the game, giving virtual rosters plenty of firepower on both sides of the ball. Leading the group is quarterback Cade Klubnik, who has been named the top-rated signal-caller in the game with a 92 overall. That puts him ahead of LSU's Garrett Nussmeier and Penn State's Drew Allar, showing the level of belief the developers have in Klubnik's potential to lead Clemson's offense this fall. On the defensive side, T.J. Parker and Peter Woods are among the most dominant players in the entire game. Both defensive linemen were slotted at the very top of their positions, with Parker earning an impressive 95 overall rating and Woods just behind at 94. Their high marks make them not only key pieces in real life but also must-have defenders in the virtual world for anyone looking to build an elite defensive front. Cornerback Avieon Terrell also received national recognition, checking in as the No. 4 corner in the game with a 92 overall. His rating reflects his breakout potential and how important he's expected to be for Clemson's secondary this season. Altogether, Clemson's group of highly rated players should make the Tigers one of the more fun teams to use in the game's long-awaited return. With top-end talent on offense and defense, fans will get a chance to see just how far they can take Clemson in pursuit of digital trophies — a fitting mirror to the real championship aspirations swirling around Dabo Swinney's team heading into the 2025 season. Rankings for EA Sports' College Football 26 video game continue to be released. LSU wide receivers Barion Brown and Jelani Watkins received recognition in the latest drop. Brown ranks second on a list of the game's top 10 fastest players while Watkins ranks seventh. Brown's rating of 99 is tied with the other four top players, and Watkins' rating of 98 is tied with the following four players. Advertisement Players in the SEC accounted for seven of the top 10, led by South Carolina wide receiver Nyck Harbor. LSU is the only school with two players on the list. UCLA, Penn State, and Pitt are all represented as well. Brown transferred from Kentucky as part of the country's top transfer class, ranking third at his position. He came in heralded as a speedster who can beat defenders on the outside or in the slot. Watkins redshirted last season, his first in Baton Rouge. He was a consensus four-star prospect in the 2024 class, ranking No. 25 at his position and No. 37 out of Texas. Star LSU football linebacker Whit Weeks named preseason All-American by Walter Camp

LSU linebacker Whit Weeks earned preseason second-team All-American recognition from the Walter Camp Foundation on Tuesday. Weeks' selection makes him one of the nation's top six linebackers. He led the Tigers with 125 tackles while adding 10 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks in 2024. The performance made him an All-SEC first team selection. The SEC led the selections with 12 schools represented and 16 players. Linebackers Jason Henderson of Old Dominion and Suntarine Perkins of Ole Miss join Weeks on the second team. Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnick earned first team honors while Arizona State's passer Sam Leavitt earned second team honors. Weeks returns to the gridiron for his junior year following a six-month recovery from surgery on a dislocated ankle and broken fibula. He was carted off the field during the second quarter of the Kinder's Texas Bowl against Baylor after he went down making a tackle. Weeks and fellow linebacker Harold Perkins return to lead a retooled LSU defense, which includes additions from the country's top 2025 transfer portal class.
