PennDOT: Drivers should expect delays on Route 220 ahead of projects

Yahoo23-05-2025
PENNSYLVANIA (WTAJ) — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that drivers should expect delays on Route 220 due to construction.
Starting Monday, May 26, through Friday, May 30, from 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Route 220 (Bedford Valley Road) from the Maryland border to T-337 (Narrow Lane Road) in Bedford County, pavement preservation will be taking place. The project includes milling and resurfacing, drainage improvements, guide rail updates, rumble strips and the rehabilitation of three bridge structures.
PennDOT stressed that drivers should take extra caution in all work zones by driving slowly, eliminating all distractions and staying alert for direction from advanced signage and flaggers. Drivers should expect delays of up to 15 minutes during paving operations.
PennDOT encourages motorists to 'Know Before They Go' by checking conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles by visiting www.511PA.com, downloading the 511 Android or iPhone app, or by calling 5-1-1.
511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information, and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras.

Kelly Drive to be closed nightly in Philadelphia for nearly entire month of August

If you're a frequent driver on Kelly Drive in Philadelphia, get ready for nightly closures for most of the month of August as milling and paving work gets underway. PennDOT will be closing the road in sections beginning Aug. 4 through Aug. 29. Each night, a portion of Kelly Drive will be closed from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. One section is between Ridge Avenue and Fountain Green Drive. When this section is closed, drivers will be detoured to Ridge Avenue, 33rd Street, Diamond Drive and Fountain Green Drive. The other section is between Reservoir Drive and 25th Street. When this section is closed, drivers will be detoured to Reservoir Drive/Strawberry Mansion Drive, Diamond Drive, 33rd Street, Girard Avenue, 29th Street, Pennsylvania Avenue, and 25th Street. The work being performed is weather-dependent. Anyone driving on Kelly Drive near the work areas should allow extra time, because this will likely cause traffic backups and delays.
