A female added: 'Oh f***. That's really scary!'

Indigenous inmate complained about being bitten by a spider before dying just days away from his release
An Indigenous inmate has died just days before his release after he told prison staff he had been bitten by a spider. Aboriginal man, Wayne Green, 41, was bitten inside Parklea Correctional Centre in Sydney and, two weeks later, died in Westmead Hospital about 9.55pm on Friday. He received medical treatment after alerting staff to symptoms of severe chest pain. Mr Green was first treated by St Vincent hospital staff, the private health provider inside the Sydney prison, and was subsequently transferred to Westmead Hospital when his condition deteriorated. A spokesperson for the private operators of the prison, MTC Broadspectrum confirmed the Indigenous inmate died on Friday. 'The man had been transferred from Parklea Correctional Centre to hospital at about 12.55pm for treatment,' they told Daily Mail Australia. 'MTC extends our sympathies to his family, friends and the wider Aboriginal community.' The prison operators are working with Corrective Services NSW and NSW Police 'who investigate all deaths in custody regardless of the circumstances'. Medical staff were told about the spider bite on Friday after treating the inmate for chest pain, according to The Daily Telegraph. It's understood the spider bite may have happened two weeks prior to Mr Green's death. Investigators are awaiting the results of toxicology reports before a cause of death can be confirmed. Mr Green was due to be released from Parklea on July 11. The MTC spokesperson revealed a 'protest' broke out at the prison on Saturday following the Aboriginal man's death. 'About 9.00am on Saturday, June 28, in response to the death, a group of inmates conducted a peaceful protest in an accommodation unit,' they said. 'After a period of negotiation, the majority of inmates were voluntarily secured in their cells. A small number of inmate representatives then spoke with centre management. 'At about 12.30pm, inmates were released from their cells, and normal routine recommenced. 'There were no injuries to staff or inmates during the incident, and nothing was damaged.' Mr Green's death will be subject to a coronial inquest.

Bizarre moment man strolls through town centre completely NAKED in front of horrified bystanders in soaring temps
THE bizarre moment a man walked through town completely naked over the weekend was captured by onlookers. He could be seen casually strolling past shops and through the high street on what was one of the hottest days so far this year. 2 2 The man stunned bystanders near the Guild Hall, in the centre of Newcastle-Under-Lyme, shortly after 5pm. He was completely stripped of clothes, not even wearing any shoes as he walked around in the sun. Another clip was also shared of what appears to be the same man running across the town centre roundabout during his naked escapade. It occurred on Saturday, June 28, where Staffordshire recorded temperatures reaching around 24 degrees Celsius. This incident is the latest in a episode of public nudity reported in the area. On June 20, a man was seen dancing and flashing his backside to motorists passing on Weston Road in Meir. A video showed him seated on the pavement that morning wearing cap, shirt and shorts. He could then be seen standing up and pulling his shorts down to moon at passing vehicles. Police also attended a half-naked man, who was escorted from a wooded area off Holst Drive in Birches Head last month. Another naked man was chased by paramedics as he ran along the A500, before being taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital.

Prison treatment of Indigenous teenager Cleveland Dodd was cruel, lawyer tells inquest
An Indigenous teenager who fatally self-harmed in detention was subjected to 'cruel and inhumane' treatment, a lawyer for his family said after the inquest into his death resumed. Cleveland Dodd was found unresponsive inside a cell in Unit 18, a youth wing of the high-security Casuarina prison facility for adults in Perth, in the early hours of 12 October 2023. The 16-year-old was taken to hospital in a critical condition and died a week later, causing outrage and grief in the community. A lawyer for Cleveland's mother Nadene Dodd was scathing of the care provided to the teenager by justice department staff, as he gave submissions to the Western Australian coroner's court on Monday. 'Cleveland was subjected to institutional abuse, cruel and inhumane treatment,' Steven Penglis told the inquest. The teenager spent more than 22 hours a day in his cell for 74 of the 86 days he was detained in Unit 18 before he self-harmed, he said. Over that period, he had four hours of recreation time, equating to about three minutes a day. His cell had no running water and in the hours before he was fatally injured he asked for water six times, Penglis said as he recapped evidence heard during the inquest that started in April 2024. Cleveland threatened to self-harm eight times and requested medical attention. His actions were the conclusion of a series of events, including being denied bail, a failed attempt to call his mother on her birthday and severe, untreated dental issues, Penglis said. 'Cleveland's death was preventable and predictable,' he said. An Aboriginal Legal Service lawyer, Julian McMahon, said the inquest revealed there was a readiness across all levels of the justice department to accept the unacceptable. 'What happened at Unit 18 was horrific,' he said in his submissions. There was an 'epidemic of self-harm' among a cohort of mostly Aboriginal children, he said. 'By self-harm, I mean attempted suicide,' McMahon said. There had been at least 17 self-harm threats in the 24 hours before Cleveland fatally injured himself, he said. Lawyers for senior justice department staff said their clients should not be subject to adverse findings, including former director general, Adam Tomison. How the facility was run was not his responsibility and corrective services staff should have followed policy, lawyer Jerome Allan said Tomison previously agreed children had been subject to appalling, cruel, inhumane and degrading treatment in Unit 18 under his watch. The justice department apologised to Cleveland's family and said there were many issues in Unit 18 in 2023, including damaged infrastructure, excessive detainee confinement and staff shortages. On the night Cleveland self-harmed, he was not properly supervised and should have been given more water, lawyer Tim Russell said. 'More should have been done,' he said. But the department did not accept Unit 18 was unfit for youth detainees. The inquest previously heard Cleveland self-harmed about 1.35am and paramedics arrived at 2.06am, but did not get access to him for nine minutes. Cleveland died, surrounded by his family, on October 19, 2023. In Australia, the crisis support service Lifeline is 13 11 14.
