Longtime NBA standout guard Lance Stephenson is now plying his trade in Ice Cube's BIG3 3-on-3 league with the Miami 305.

The 6-foot-6 swingman out of the University of Cincinnati enjoyed a 10-year (non-consecutive) NBA career.
Stephenson, now 34, spent parts of seven seasons with the Indiana Pacers and otherwise hopping around between the Charlotte Hornets, L.A. Clippers, Memphis Grizzlies, New Orleans Pelicans, Minnesota Timberwolves, Los Angeles Lakers and Atlanta Hawks between 2010-22, interrupted by a stint abroad with the CBA's Liaoning Flying Leopards and a run with the Denver Nuggets' G League affiliate, the Grand Rapids Gold.
The shooting guard/swingman carved out a niche on several talented Indiana squads, alongside All-Stars Paul George and Roy Hibbert, plus former two-time All-Star All-Star David West and talented point guard George Hill. At their best, those Pacers pushed the LeBron James/Dwyane Wade/Chris Bosh-era Miami Heat in three hotly contested East playoff series between 2012-14, including a pair of hotly contested Eastern Conference Finals clashes in 2013 and '14.
Across 554 career regular season contests, Stephenson averaged 8.6 points on .445/.314/.694 shooting splits, 4.1 rebounds and 2.9 assists a night.

Despite his litany of pro accomplishments, Stephenson was just like any of us on Sunday when the Houston Rockets (briefly) stole the spotlight from his own ex-team, the Pacers, on the cusp of their ill-fated Game 7 NBA Finals matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Video has surfaced of Stephenson conferring NBA insider Brandon "Scoop B" Robinson, and being told that Houston had traded a fairly light package to acquire 14-time All-Star Kevin Durant.
Understandably, Stephenson is stunned to hear the news.
As, indeed, were we all.
Houston managed to hold on to most of its best young assets — including forwards Jabari Smith Jr. and Tari Eason, All-Star center Alperen Sengun, swingman Amen Thompson, and even guard Cam Whitmore and last year's lottery pick Reed Sheppard — in the deal, only offloading inconsistent guard Jalen Green, small forward Dillon Brooks, the No. 10 pick in this week's 2025 NBA Draft, and five future second rounders in the deal.

Now, one of the NBA's best scorers will be joining a Houston team that won 53 games last year, adding a veteran bucket-getter to guide a group of high-upside young athletes.

Bobby Marks proposes trade that would give Lakers a promising center

According to at least one report, the Los Angeles Lakers have apparently already begun their quest to plug their massive hole at the center position. A beat writer for the Utah Jazz said recently that he thinks the Lakers have made a trade offer for Walker Kessler, an up-and-coming center who plays for the Jazz. There have been a couple other centers linked to the Lakers as far as players they could attempt to trade for. But ESPN analyst Bobby Marks suggested a different way they could address their need for a center — trade not for someone already in the NBA and established, but for a top college prospect. Advertisement In a recent article, he proposed a three-team deal in which Los Angeles would send out Dalton Knecht to the Portland Trail Blazers and an unprotected 2031 first-round draft pick to the Brooklyn Nets for the No. 8 pick and No. 36 pick this year. It would then select Khaman Maluach at No. 8. "It should be noted that this trade is contingent on whether Duke's Khaman Maluach is on the board when Brooklyn is picking," Marks wrote. "If he is, then the Lakers have their starting center for the future, but at the cost of last year's first-round pick, Knecht, and an unprotected first in 2031. It is the same package the Lakers sent to Charlotte in the failed Mark Williams trade last February, except the 2031 first-round swap is not included. "... In Maluach, the Lakers get a lob partner for Luka Doncic, a rim protector and the paint presence they lacked in the first-round loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves." While some feel Maluach will be a lottery pick, others expect him to go later in the first round. At 7-feet-1 and 253 pounds, he's an excellent rim protector who can also effectively guard on the perimeter, particularly in pick-and-roll sets. He's a strong finisher near the rim who will either throw down a dunk or score on layups, and he has a fairly strong motor that helps him, among other things, attack the offensive glass. The South Sudan native averaged 8.6 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 21.3 minutes a game this season as a freshman for Duke University. Luka Doncic Shares Strong Message To New Lakers Owner After Jeanie Buss Sold Franchise For $10 Billion

Luka Doncic Shares Strong Message To New Lakers Owner After Jeanie Buss Sold Franchise For $10 Billion originally appeared on Fadeaway World. In a monumental shift that ends one of the most iconic ownership eras in sports history, Jeanie Buss has agreed to sell her majority stake in the Los Angeles Lakers for a record-breaking $10 billion evaluation to billionaire Mark Walter, CEO of TWG Global and part-owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Advertisement While the move came as a shock to many, Lakers superstar Luka Doncic has fully embraced the change and sent a powerful message to the team's incoming owner. "The Lakers are an amazing organization. I'm looking forward to meeting Mark and excited about the future. I am also grateful to Jeanie and the Buss family for welcoming me to LA, and I'm happy that Jeanie will continue to be involved. I look forward to working with both of them to win championships!" Luka's statement echoes the optimism within the Lakers organization. Despite a disappointing first-round playoff exit this past season, the combination of Luka Doncic and LeBron James has given Los Angeles a dynamic duo with generational talent. Now, with billionaire backing, they're positioned to pursue titles aggressively, both through trades and financial investment in infrastructure. Advertisement Mark Walter, who previously purchased Phil Anschutz's 26% minority stake in 2021, had first right of refusal if the Buss family ever decided to sell. That clause is now in motion. While Jeanie will remain the team governor and keep a 15% stake to retain league governance rights, the majority of the ownership now shifts into Walter's hands. Magic Johnson, who has deep ties with both the Lakers and Walter through their shared connection with the Dodgers, was ecstatic. He praised Walter as a relentless winner who 'will put in the resources needed to win' and compared him favorably to Dr. Jerry Buss for his passion, business savvy, and behind-the-scenes leadership style. From Luka's side, the message is clear, he's not only supportive of the change, but energized by it. Doncic was already seen as the centerpiece of the Lakers' future, and with the team's new financial firepower, fans can expect Los Angeles to be a top-tier destination for free agents and disgruntled stars alike. As ESPN's Dave McMenamin noted, the financial flexibility of TWG Global doesn't override the NBA's new CBA and its second-apron penalties. Advertisement However, Walter can pour resources into other essential areas: scouting, analytics, player health, and player development. In an era where marginal advantages separate contenders from pretenders, that might be what gives the Lakers an edge. Doncic's vocal endorsement, combined with LeBron James' reported excitement about the change, suggests a unified front. Despite the end of the Buss family's majority ownership, dating back to Dr. Buss' $67.5 million purchase in 1979, the Lakers seem ready to enter a new golden age. With Doncic at the helm and Walter's billions behind him, Los Angeles isn't just changing hands, they're gearing up for another dynasty. Luka Doncic Has Dropped 'Significant Weight' Ahead Of Revenge Season For The Lakers

Luka Doncic Has Dropped 'Significant Weight' Ahead Of Revenge Season For The Lakers originally appeared on Fadeaway World. In the aftermath of his shocking move, Luka Doncic is set to make the Mavericks regret ever letting him go. According to the latest intel out of Los Angeles, the 5x All-Star is in the best shape of his life as he prepares for his first full season as a Laker. Advertisement 'Doncic has been incredibly committed to his conditioning this offseason," wrote Dan Woike of The Athletic. "He's dropped significant weight and is working on a strict diet and cardio training, according to a source with knowledge of the plan. In a shift from his normal offseason, he spent a month away from on-court work to focus more on his body.' Luka is notorious for being out of shape, but he's committed to a plan this summer that will keep him active in the weight room and the gym. Of course, he also plans to participate in EuroBasket 2025 this summer, which will add another layer of training and conditioning to his offseason schedule. "Doncic has looked visibly slimmer in photos and is now back working out with Slovenia, readying for EuroBasket competition later this summer," wrote Woike. Usually, Doncic spends most of his offseason doing on-court work, whether it's shooting drills or hardcore practice sessions. It's better than nothing, of course, but it failed to have Luka ready by opening night. Advertisement This summer, Luka is taking a different approach by focusing more on his body and weight. He's being intentional about shedding any extra pounds and is trading some of his on-court practice time for more exercise on the cardio machine. Only time will tell if this work pays off, but some fans have already noticed positive results. In the few photos and videos we've seen of Luka this summer, he's looked a lot slimmer and in some of the best shape we've ever seen him. It's a major contrast from last season, when Doncic was causing concern with his poor conditioning. His weight fluctuated throughout the campaign, frequently exceeding 230 pounds as he struggled not to lose his breath every time he was on the court. With averages of 28.2 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 7.7 assists per game on 43.8% shooting last season, Doncic carried the Mavericks offensively until February's deadline, when he was forced to adjust on the fly to his new team. Advertisement It was, in part, due to Luka's lack of conditioning that the Mavericks let him go so suddenly. According to GM Nico Harrison, they want players with a winner's mentality, and that means guys who play both ends of the floor while putting in the work to maintain their bodies. The Mavericks lost faith that Doncic could be that guy for them, and now they have those expectations for Cooper Flagg. For Luka to prove them wrong, he'll have to deliver his best season yet for the Lakers. With a summer of training and working out, Doncic will be more ready than he's ever been to deliver high-quality basketball, and he'll be playing with an added chip on his shoulder after hearing all the rumors that have damaged his legacy. The Mavericks have awakened a beast inside Luka, and now the whole league will have to deal with the fallout as he looks to prove that the Mavericks made the biggest mistake by trading him with no warning.
