Chirag Paswan slams Congress-RJD, skips to mention name of to contest upcoming Assembly poll
'From where I'll contest the poll (assembly poll), you (people) have to decide', he quipped while, the gathered crowd and the country was watching Mr Paswan to reveal the name of the constituency he would contest the poll from the party meeting on Sunday, June 8' 2025. Mr Paswan, recently, had indicated that if his party would want he too would contest the upcoming assembly elections from Bihar as the move would 'boost party cadres'.
'The experiment has been done earlier by BJP as well and the result of it has been positive', said Mr Paswan. His senior party leaders, though, had announced that Mr Paswan would contest the poll from a 'general seat' instead of reserved one. 'He may contest from a general seat of Shahabad area which includes Ara and other three districts', indicated party MP from Jamui and Mr Paswan's brother-in-law, Arun Bharti. Mr Paswan who is three-time MP, is currently party member of Lok Sabha rom reserved seat of Hajipur in Vaishali district.
Later, recalling that it was Congress party which had dethroned the Karpoori Thakur government in 1980, the year and thereafter had seen several massacres in the state, Mr Paswan said, 'it was not the jungle raj of 15 years but of 25-years of both Congress party and RJD'. In 1990, Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad had become the chief minister of the state and governed it for next 15-years until November 2005 when chief minister Nitish Kumar took over the regime to lead governments.
Shahabad area of Bihar comprises four districts of Bhojpur, Buxar, Rohtas and Kaimur which has 22 assembly seats and in last 2020 assembly elections the Opposition Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) had performed well than the ruling NDA block in this area.
'Give your support to me and I'll give you a developed state. I'll not take rest until Bihar will be a developed state', appealed Mr Paswan and the gathered crowd of mostly youth cheered loudly in party's meeting at Ara. Mr Paswan also mentioned about his party's catch line of 'Bihar First, Bihari First' several times and without taking names of anyone, said, 'they wanted to finish Bihar First and Bihari First and so Chirag Paswan but Chirag Paswan will not be finished by anyone'. 'They broke my family, my party but Chirag Paswan is son of a lion, Ram Vilas Paswan and will not be broken', he roared. 'I don't fear anyone', he asserted while adding, 'whatever I've to do, I'll do for Bihar's development'.
'By 2047 when the country will be a developed nation — every village, every panchayat, every block and every district of Bihar too will be developed', he said and the crowd cheered loudly again.
While praising the NDA government of which his party LJP (RV) is a constituent, Mr Paswan is a member of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led cabinet at the center, he said, 'Baba Saheb Ambedkar got Bharat Ratna, Karpoori Thakur got Bharat Ratna in this regime of NDA government. 'Dreams of Karpoori Thakur and Baba Saheb Ambedkar were carried forward by PM Modi and CM Nitish Kumar ji', he added.
'By 'Bihar First and, Bihari First' slogan I want to make Bihar from where no youth has to go outside the state for education or migrate for employment', he asserted. Assembly elections in Bihar are due in October-November later this year.
Another NDA ally Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) led by party leader Upendra Kushwaha too addressed a party meeting 'Samvidhanik Adhikar, parishiman sudhar (constitutional rights, delimitation reforms) at Club ground in Muzaffarpur on Sunday, June 8' 2025.

Naini slams BRS leaders for baseless remarks
Launching scathing attack on BRS leaders and corporators, MLA Naini Rajender Reddy said that some people without proper subject knowledge have been making statements. He participated as chief guest and inaugurated development works in the 4rth division's Jyotibasunagar Colony on Friday. They included a CC road constructed with Rs 25 lakh and another CC road from Akshara Colony to the main road built at a cost of Rs 49.9 lakh. The MLA interacted with residents and listened to their issues. Recently, verbal clashes have intensified between the BRS and Congress corporators and leaders. Each side is conducting media conferences, challenging one another to public debates. Against this backdrop, the MLA strongly responded during his inauguration speech. He emphasised that funds were sanctioned with intent to involve everyone in the development process, regardless of party affiliation, because people across all divisions had voted for them with trust. He warned that he would present detailed evidence before the media comparing the works done during BRS's rule with the development achieved in just 18 months under the government. He stated that during BRS rule, funds were deliberately not allocated to divisions with Congress corporators, but under this government, public development and welfare are the main priorities. He mentioned that even in divisions with BJP and BRS corporators, funds are now being allocated on an equal basis. He criticised some BRS corporators for boycotting a recent Ballia council meeting not to fight for people's issues, but for political gain. As an MLA elected with the cooperation of everyone, he said he is working impartially and allocating funds for development without forgetting anyone. Since the Congress came to power, he said, with the support of CM, funds are being sanctioned for development of all colonies. In just 18 months, about Rs 4.5 crore has been allocated solely for the development of colonies in the division. Reddy stressed that understanding and solving public issues is his primary responsibility; development works taken up in colonies with the cooperation of GWMC and KUDA are progressing rapidly. He instructed officials and contractors to work in coordination to ensure the newly launched projects are completed within a short time.

Siddaramaiah rejects BJP's Rahul Gandhi ‘humiliated' Karnataka CM claim: 'My primary work in Delhi was...'
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah refuted BJP leader Amit Malviya's allegation that Congress MP Rahul Gandhi had 'humiliated' him by denying a meeting. Malviya earlier claimed that Gandhi 'humiliated' Siddaramaiah by denying an appointment the latter had sought. Siddaramaiah took to X late Friday to inform that his primary purpose in Delhi was to discuss Mysuru's Dasara Air Show with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. "My primary work in Delhi was to meet Defence Minister Shri @rajnathsingh to discuss the Air Show during Dasara in Mysuru. Shri @RahulGandhi has immense affection for the people of Karnataka," Siddaramaiah said in a post on X. 'He always remembers how Smt Indira Gandhi and Smt Sonia Gandhi were elected from Karnataka, and how the state has stood by the Congress at every critical juncture,' Siddaramaiah said. He added, 'The Gandhi Family, including Shri Rahul Gandhi, remain deeply indebted to the love showered by the people of Karnataka, and our AICC President Shri Mallikarjun @kharge is a proud Kannadiga.' The Chief Minister also accused the BJP of betraying Kannadigas by denying Central funds. "While Shri Rahul Gandhi remains committed to bringing positive, transformative change in Karnataka, the @BJP4India has betrayed Kannadigas by denying the funds we rightfully deserve. Even when Karnataka suffered devastating floods, the Prime Minister @narendramodi did not utter a word," he said. He also alleged that the BJP MPs from Karnataka do not have the spine to stand up to PM Modi for the rights of Kannadigas. "@BJP4KarnatakaMPs do not have the spine to stand up to Narendra Modi for the rights of Kannadigas. For Modi, Karnataka exists only during elections; for Congress, Karnataka's welfare is a daily commitment," he said. Earlier in a post on X, BJP leader Amit Malviya accused Rahul Gandhi of humiliating Siddaramaiah by denying an appointment the latter had sought. "Humiliation in Delhi for Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah! He travelled all the way to the capital, only to be denied an appointment by Rahul Gandhi--and has now returned without even a meeting," Malviya said in the post. "This isn't the first time a Gandhi has insulted a senior leader from Karnataka. History remembers how Rajiv Gandhi unceremoniously sacked an ailing Veerendra Patil, triggering the Congress's downfall in the state. Now, a weakened Siddaramaiah is forced to hide behind the very man plotting against him--DK Shivakumar, who is eagerly waiting to take his chair. The Congress, and the Gandhis in particular, have always treated Kannadigas with disdain. This is just the latest example," he added. Siddaramaiah had dismissed speculation about a change in the state's leadership, asserting that there has been no discussion with the Congress high command about the change. "How many times do I tell you, it (speculations around Karnataka CM post) was not discussed at all? This issue was not discussed at all with the high command," Siddaramaiah said on Friday.

High Court stays defamation case against CM
The High Court has stayed the trial proceedings against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in a high-profile defamation case filed by the BJP, which alleges that the Congress leader defamed the party through front-page newspaper advertisements accusing the previous BJP-led state government of large-scale corruption. A single-judge bench headed by Justice S R Krishna Kumar passed the interim order while hearing a petition filed by Siddaramaiah seeking to quash the private complaint lodged by BJP state secretary and Legislative Council member B.S. Keshav Prasad. During the hearing, Advocate General Shashikiran Shetty, appearing for the Chief Minister, argued that the trial court had already stayed proceedings against the other accused in the same case and hence the same relief should be extended to the Chief Minister as well. After considering the submissions, the bench ordered a stay on the trial pending further hearings. Advocate Surya Mukundaraj also appeared for the petitioner. The defamation case dates back to the run-up to the May 2023 Assembly elections when the Congress made corruption allegations a central theme of its campaign. On May 5, 2023, the Congress published advertisements on the front pages of major Kannada and English newspapers, branding the BJP regime as a '40% commission government.' The ads alleged that the BJP had institutionalised corruption by fixing bribes for postings and tenders, and that kickbacks of 25–30% were being taken in Covid supplies, public works, temple and mutt grants, midday meal eggs, and road projects. The ads concluded with the sensational claim that the BJP government had siphoned off ₹1.5 lakh crore over its term, urging voters to reject what the Congress labelled a 'Trouble Engine Government' — a pun on the BJP's 'Double Engine Government' pitch. Following their defeat in the polls, the BJP hit back legally, claiming the allegations were baseless and amounted to a malicious attempt to tarnish the party's image, mislead voters, and influence the election outcome. The private complaint names not only Siddaramaiah but also Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi as responsible for approving and disseminating the advertisements. While the stay provides temporary relief for Siddaramaiah, the case is expected to remain a point of political friction as the BJP continues to accuse the ruling Congress of crossing ethical lines during the bitterly fought election. The matter will next come up for further hearing in the High Court.
