BTS confirm return with 2026 album and world tour
The K-pop boy band announced their hotly anticipated comeback during a live stream on Tuesday (01.07.25), now that all seven members – Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V and Jung Kook – have completed their mandatory military service in South Korea.
The Butter hitmakers have confirmed that they will travel to the United States later this month to start work on new music as they prepare to release a new album in spring 2026.
Jimin said: "Hey guys, we are back."
The group added: "We're also planning a world tour alongside the album. We'll be visiting fans all around the world, so we hope you're as excited as we are."
The new album will mark the band's first record release since 2020 and the tour will see BTS hit the road for the first time since the Permission to Dance on Stage gigs in 2022.
The BTS members were forced to put their careers on hold in 2022 as 18 months of military service is compulsory for all men in South Korea.
Suga was the final star in the band to complete his military service last month.
BTS told their fans, known as the ARMY, on the platform Weverse: "Starting in July, all seven of us will begin working closely together on new music.
"Since it will be a group album, it will reflect each member's thoughts and ideas. We're approaching the album with the same mindset we had when we first started."
The band are thought to have staggered their military service so that all members were unavailable for no longer than six months – with all of them releasing solo material during the group's hiatus.
J-Hope thinks that the individual work has allowed each member of the group to establish their own identity.
The 31-year-old star said: "I think that over time, we each refined our unique identities as each of us work on their own music, come out with their solo projects and do their own thing.
"The funny thing for me is when our identities, which have taken shape in various ways, come together as BTS.
"I'm curious to see how [the reunion] will look like."

Stray Kids' Lee Know is new Gucci ambassador
Stray Kids' Lee Know has been appointed a global ambassador for Gucci. The South Korean pop star has been spotted on a number of occasions wearing the brand's creations at official events and was a guest at the fashion house's cruise 2025 show in London last year, but in his new role, the 26-year-old musician will be even more involved in Gucci's initiatives. He said in a statement: 'I believe Gucci is a brand that transcends the past and present through heritage and contemporary creativity. It's a great honor to be part of Gucci's visionary journey." The announcement comes just a few weeks after it was revealed fellow Stray Kids member Seungmin had been appointed a brand ambassador for Burberry, who were delighted to have the K-pop star on board. Chief creative officer Daniel Lee said in a statement: 'His passion and sense of style will make working together a lot of fun." Seungmin - who was chosen for his authenticity, self-expression and innovative nature - hailed the partnership "an honour". He said: 'It is an honour to join the Burberry family. 'It's an iconic British brand with a rich heritage, and I love that connection. I'm excited to be part of its future.' Seungmin's appointment was revealed shortly after the 24-year-old star was part of Burberry's Festival campaign alongside the likes of Goldie, Loyle Carner, Cara Delevingne, Alexa Chung, and Liam Gallagher and his model children Lennon and Gene Gallagher and Molly Moorish-Gallagher. Lee Know's bandmate HAN recently praised him as being a "very handsome" man and expressed his gratitude that his friend is always happy to look out for him. HAN told Rolling Stone of Lee Know: 'He is very handsome. And even though he may not look like it, he's very sensitive and meticulous. And he listens to me and only me. "I can get lonely being away from home, and he takes very good care of me. After a concert, we spend quality time together. We all do, actually, and we share delicious food together.'
