Is Taylor Swift releasing a new album? Deleted ‘Seismic Rumblings' note sparks TS12 hype

Indian Express2 days ago
Taylor Swift is up to something, or maybe it was just a glitch. On Tuesday, Swifties went into a frenzy when HITS Daily Double, a well-known music tracker website, hinted that the Cruel Summer singer might be dropping a brand-new album soon. But just as the buzz picked up, the line was edited within minutes. Swift, for her part, hasn't announced anything new. Her last album was The Tortured Poets Department, and her Reputation re-recording is still on hold. She recently said she needs more time to prepare after reclaiming her masters. So, is TS12 on the horizon?
The original report on the site read, 'Seismic rumblings of a new Taylor set keep the Republic [Records] team as aggressive as ever.' That one line was enough to convince fans that Swift's 12th studio album is locked and loaded, with the Republic crew ready to hit the ground running. What's got everyone buzzing even more is Swift's usual pattern, she's dropped lead singles in August before a Q4 album launch more than once. 'TS12 we are ready,' one fan posted. Another wrote, 'THE WORLD ISN'T READY FOR HER.' A third said, 'Taylor Nation (Swift's biggest fan page) made some calls. The album is coming.'

But within hours, that one promising sentence was edited out of the article. It was replaced with a far vaguer line: 'And there's always Taylor,' without any context. That tiny edit was enough to deflate the buzz and confuse fans. But the sudden change made many of them even more convinced that something was going on behind the scenes. Some speculated that Taylor's PR team or Republic Records may have reached out for damage control, especially since she's been known to keep her drops ultra-secretive. One fan even wrote, 'That must mean it's really coming and Tree told them to get rid of it!' referring to Taylor's longtime publicist, Tree Paine.

Back in May, Taylor Swift bought back the masters to her debut catalogue, something she's been fighting for for years. To mark the win, she posted a long, emotional note to fans. And in classic Taylor fashion, she didn't miss the chance to sneak in a clue: she spelled the word 'this' with exactly 12 i's. 'A flashback sequence of all the times I daydreamed about, wished for, and pined away for the chance to get to tell you this news. All the times I was thiiiiiiiiiiiis close, reaching out for it, only for it to fall through,' she wrote. Swifties immediately clocked that as a breadcrumb, TS12 was in the works. She doubled down at the Grammys, rocking earrings with exactly 12 pearls.
Then came the surprise performance at Brooklyn Bowl in Nashville, where she brought back her country twang singing Shake It Off, hinting at a possible return to her roots. Most of her tracks have been breakup-heavy, but fans are betting this one will be different, maybe even dedicated to NFL boyfriend Travis Kelce, after the two were spotted spending July 4th tucked away in Montana. For Swift, downtime usually means she's plotting something big. And in the end, all it took was one line in a music blog to spark a global guessing game.

Labubu went from America's most viral toy to a doll linked with Pazuzu and demonic vibes: The rise and fall of a toy explained

Twelve weeks ago, Labubu was the must-have. Think designer shelves, TikTok unboxings, and fans queuing like Swifties outside Pop Mart stores. With its big eyes, pointy ears, and slightly gremlin-core grin, the elf-like vinyl toy was everywhere. Resale prices exploded. People fought at airports. Even your chillest friend was posting #LabubuHaul videos. Then… it flipped. Hard. Labubu was the IT girl of dolls, only until it wasn't What began as a harmless collector's obsession has now been swallowed by chaos. Out of nowhere, Labubu went from loveable to downright sinister. Reddit threads and TikToks are now swarming with creepy claims, nightmares, weird electrical flickers, aggressive pets, and that unsettling sensation of being watched. One TikToker insisted their Labubu literally moved on its own. Another Redditor said buying one brought a heavy 'presence' into their room. The internet, naturally, lost its mind. The Pazuzu theory Just when things could not get weirder, they did. A now-deleted TikTok sent conspiracy-lovers into a frenzy by comparing Labubu to Pazuzu, the ancient demon from Mesopotamian mythology (yes, the same one referenced in The Exorcist). The similarities? Big staring eyes, those cursed pointy ears, and that unnervingly cheeky smile. #CursedLabubu and #DemonDoll started trending within hours. Some brushed it off as viral silliness. Others? Already ordering sage online. Pop Mart reacts, and that only fuels the fire around demonic Labubu Sensing the hysteria, Pop Mart stepped in with a damage-control post on Weibo and Instagram. The brand dismissed the supernatural claims but admitted that customer discomfort was being taken seriously. Sales were paused, refunds were offered, and future Labubu drops got shelved. But Gen Z being Gen Z, the acknowledgement only made things feel more cursed. If it really was nothing… then why hit the brakes so hard? Resellers are in chaos. Some are offloading their Labubus like they are possessed Furby twins, while others are charging absurd prices for 'possibly haunted' pieces. 'I don't care if it triples in value, I want it out of my house,' said one panic seller in a Facebook group. Whether this is internet madness or genuine cursed energy is up for debate. But one thing is very legit here, Labubu has officially crossed the line from fandom to folklore.

‘My story with Justin Bieber isn't over': Scooter Braun calls singer his family, shuts down Taylor Swift song rumours

Scooter Braun is finally speaking, addressing the massive payout from Justin Bieber over the cancelled Justice tour. The former manager, who recently stepped down as HYBE America CEO and moved into a board role, also cleared the air around Taylor Swift's 2022 Midnights track 'Vigilante S—,' which fans believe was aimed at him. He went on to address all the speculation surrounding his professional ties with artists and his personal life, including his divorce from ex-wife Yael Cohen. Braun defended Bieber just days after the pop star dropped his seventh studio album, Swag. Also read: HYBE America CEO Scooter Braun steps down hours after BTS reveal full-group comeback Braun and Bieber are believed to have cut ties, at least from the pop star's side, after the whole financial fiasco. But Braun sees it differently. He still calls Bieber family. The two parted ways in 2023, and while their final settlement just played out days ago, Braun insists the story's far from over. 'That's what happens with relationships like that,' he said on the Question Everything podcast, July 17. 'They ebb and they flow. They go up and down. Sometimes, they go in one direction and sometimes they go another, but you always keep your heart open to the fact that that's family and you have each other's back in the end.' For Braun, it's clear his career path has shifted for good. He's worked with artists like Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato, J Balvin, and even Taylor Swift, but now, he's moved on. He stepped down as HYBE America's CEO and chose a different path. Bieber, he said, was ready to take control of his own life. 'I respect completely that he is his own man now, and he wants to build his career moving forward the way he sees fit, and he should. In the same way, I respect that I want to build my life a certain way moving forward.' And despite the headlines, despite the payout, reportedly $31.5 million over unpaid commissions, Braun still gave Bieber a social media shoutout. He praised Swag, calling it Justin's most honest work yet. Also read: Justin Bieber's Swag becomes one of his worst-rated albums; it's already crashing on streaming charts Braun and Swift have had a long-standing, very public fallout ever since the Cruel Summer singer accused her former manager of selling her music rights. Back then, Swift, in a Tumblr post, called him out for years of 'incessant, manipulative bullying.' Then came her 2022 Midnights album, and right there was Vigilante S—dropping almost at the same time news of Braun's divorce from Yael Cohen went public. Naturally, Swifties connected the dots. Lyrics like 'She gets the house, gets the kids… thick as thieves with your ex-wife' had fans convinced it was a not-so-subtle dig. The timing was way too clean to be a coincidence. But Braun's now set the record straight on Danielle Robay's podcast. He said he never once thought the song was about him. In fact, he even called his ex-wife one of his best friends. 'So me and my ex-wife laugh about that stuff,' Braun said. 'We don't even call each other ex. That's like my partner. That's the mother of my children.' According to him, they co-parent their three kids and talk every day. He's even got a 'same team' tattoo on his finger post-divorce. Braun dismissed the rumours saying that fans and the media just wanted to stir drama. 'Good strategy move,' he said. 'So no, I never thought that was about us. She never thought it was about us and everyone else kind of feeding into the fire.'
