There are numerous issues at hand for the Lakers in the wake of this week's NBA draft, and one of the first ones on which they will get some clarity comes from wing Dorian Finney-Smith, the forward the team acquired in a trade with the Nets in December. Finney-Smith played 43 games with L.A. last season, making 20 starts and averaging 12.3 points while making 39.8% of his 3s.

But Smith is heading into the final year of a four-year, $56 million contract, and has the opportunity to opt out. He is due $15.4 million next season, and could not attract more than that on the open market, which gives him incentive to opt in and keep his money intact.
The Lakers, though, are not banking on that. "I'd say they're expecting him to opt out," one NBA executive said. "But then they're expecting him to sign on to stay in L.A. after that. If he opts in, that's even better, as long as it keeps him on the team. Unless there is a trade that comes out of nowhere, he will be a Laker next year, that's what everyone expects."

DFS is not likely to get much of a raise from the Lakers, not because he is not worthy of a bump--he is a very good 3-and-D player--but because it's clear the market is so tight that he would not get much of a raise if he did opt out.

But he wants to ensure he will be paid beyond this season. Thus, he could sign a longer-term deal and give himself some security with the Lakers. Finney-Smith would be a good candidate for a four-year deal with a modest raise over what he got when he signed an extension with Dallas in 2022.
He could, though, seek to limit the deal's length in hopes of getting back into free agency in a year or two, when there is more money available. That won't be the case here in 2025, though, so expect to see Finney-Smith back with the Lakers.
Finney-Smith's deadline for opting out is June 29.

Tennis Star Carson Branstine Turns Heads With Swimsuit Photo Ahead Of Wimbledon

Tennis Star Carson Branstine Turns Heads With Swimsuit Photo Ahead Of Wimbledon originally appeared on The Spun. Don't look now, but Carson Branstine is taking the tennis world by storm just in time for the 2025 Wimbledon Championships. Advertisement Branstine earned a spot in the main draw at Wimbledon by going on an impressive run during qualifiers. She started off her week by defeating French Open semifinalist Lois Boisson in a three-set thriller. That positive moment carried over into her next match against former US Open champion Bianca Andreescu. Though it's not much of a surprise, Branstine had another three-set thriller in her final qualifying match. This time around, she defeated Raluca Serban. If Branstine wants to make a run at Wimbledon, she'll have to take down the No. 1 player in the world on Monday. She's set to face Aryna Sabalenka in the opening around. The Canadian couldn't help but joke about their upcoming match. "Maybe one day I'll get a good draw LOL," Branstine wrote on X. Advertisement While defeating Sabalenka may seem unlikely, plenty of fans will be on her side. (Photo by Marleen Fouchier/)For starters, Branstine has become somewhat of a star on social media. Back in May, the 24-year-old from California shared a few swimsuit photos that grabbed everyone's attention. "Stunning," one fan said after seeing these photos of Branstine. "So good," another fan wrote. "A bombshell has entered the villa," an Instagram user commented. Another reason Branstine will have fan support on Monday is because Sabalenka made some questionable remarks after her loss to Coco Gauff in the French Open final. Advertisement "I think it was more windy. Also I think I was over emotional. Today I didn't handle myself quite well mentally. Basically that's it," Sabalenka told reporters. "I was just making unforced errors. I don't know. I have to check the statistics. I think she won the match not because she played incredible. Just because I made all of those mistakes, if you look from the outside, from kind of easy balls." We'll see if Branstine can shock the world and defeat Sabalenka at Wimbledon. It is a day reserved for the most consequential contests, in which a single run can redefine an athlete's legacy. It's also a day of fan favorites. Betting remains active, and with stunts this dicey, the odds can shift before the wheels touch down. Advertisement An all-day digital livestream of Sunday's events can be found on the Roku Sports Channel. Women's Skateboard Street Best Trick opens the day. Chloe Covell is just 15, but she's already the rider to beat as the owner of four X Games gold medals. Her lines are crisp, fast and technically advanced. She faces a deep field of teenage talent, pushing the ceiling higher with each appearance. The lineup continues with Men's Skateboard Vert Best Trick, BMX Dirt Best Trick, Men's Skateboard Street Best Trick and Moto X QuarterPipe High Air. Colby Raha enters as the favorite in the latter — he's won four titles and continues to hit heights once thought impossible. But new challengers are closing in, and a single slip can change the standings. In the Men's Skateboard Vert Best Trick final, Gui Khury is within reach of another gold. The 16-year-old claimed his eighth X Games gold, the most ever for a teenager, when he won the Men's Skateboard Vert competition on Friday. Vert is the sport's root system, where style, control and innovation collide. Finally, after Women's BMX Park, the Dave Mirra BMX Park Best Trick closes the weekend. Kevin Peraza returns to chase a sixth medal in the event that honors Mirra's legacy. Expect big air and creative lines that nod to BMX history while pushing the boundaries of what's possible.
