Cooper Flagg's Physical Appearance is Turning Heads Before Summer League
Cooper Flagg is set to appear in his first Summer League. Selected No. 1 overall by the Dallas Mavericks in the 2025 NBA Draft, expectations are high that Flagg will be able to make an immediate impact on the Mavs.

The 18-year-old forward is coming off a memorable season with the Duke Blue Devils, during which he averaged 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.2 assists, while shooting 48.1% from the field and 38.5% from deep. Prior to being drafted, he had been compared to the likes of Scottie Pippen, Kawhi Leonard, Jayson Tatum and Lamar Odom, among many others.
His first opportunity to show he can be a game-changer for Dallas will come in the Summer League. The Mavs are participating in the Las Vegas Summer League, which begins Thursday.
In the build-of to the tournament, however, Flagg has been making headlines for a different reason.
As the Mavs continue to promote Flagg and the rest of their Summer League team, fans couldn't help but take notice of the change in the youngster's physical appearance, particularly his facial hair.

Flagg already rocked a goatee during the NBA Draft, and since then, he has grown it a little bit more. Regardless, while some like it, others aren't big fans of it.
"goatee flagg," a fan noticed. Another one shared, "That goatee adds so much aura to Cooper Flagg."
"Goatee Flagg may be another animal," a third supporter added.
A critic remarked, "He's gotta lose the Goatee." A fifth poster echoed a similar sentiment, writing, "Goatee is not it man."
"He not cutting that goatee, huh?" a social media user stated.

A couple of other commenters pointed to unkempt hairstyle, with one even offering to give him a cut: "Tell him to come see me for a fresh fade."

'The Harbaugh way': Even practice jerseys are a source of pride
It was a summer day in June, but Daiyan Henley was dressed for a prime-time moment. Fitted with long socks, white pants and a sleeve on his elbow, the Chargers linebacker's practice jersey was complete with game-ready lightning bolts on each shoulder. Other team's practice jerseys are plain. They're looser. They're more breathable. 'But this is us,' Henley said, running his fingertips over his crisp blue jersey. 'This is clean.' 'This,' he added, 'is the Harbaugh way.' Entering his second season at the helm as training camp begins Thursday, Jim Harbaugh is firmly woven into the fabric of the Chargers organization. The coach responsible for the franchise's best single-season turnaround in 20 years was the mastermind behind the team's new practice jersey patches. Already outfitted with their elevated practice jerseys, players now wear their biggest accomplishments on their chest with patches that celebrate personal victories while pushing for collective success. The patches represent eight accomplishments: Playoff wins, Chargers records, NFL records, All-Pro seasons, seasons as a team captain, Walter Payton Man of the Year, the NFL's Ed Block Courage Award, and the block of granite award determined by the Chargers strength and conditioning staff. The only player who has at least one of each is Derwin James Jr. The four-time team captain's right chest is plastered with three playoff appearances, three Chargers records, three NFL records, two nominations for man of the year, four All-Pro honors and one each of the courage and block of granite awards. He wants to collect enough patches to reach down to his ribs. "At the end of the day, we're all professionals, this is a professional league, but [the patches] kind of keep us connected and get a little bragging rights in the locker room,' James said. 'Guys want to compete for their jersey to look like that too." At Michigan, Harbaugh used helmet stickers to symbolize each player's accomplishments. The jersey patches remind the coach of the stripes on a general's uniform. "Some day, they'll be able to put that jersey up in a frame, put it on a wall, say something really good about themselves,' Harbaugh said. 'It'll be what they accomplished as a pro football player." The patches are Harbaugh's latest culture-setting innovation. He outfitted the locker room with personalized locker name tags that list each player's hometown, college, high school and recruiting ranking to promote team bonding. The coach handed out metal lunch pails and blue-collar work shirts customized with embroidered name tags to symbolize the team's hard-working mentality. Hoodies celebrated major victories such as the team's thriller against the Cincinnati Bengals, a late-season Thursday night victory over the Denver Broncos and the playoff-clinching win over the New England Patriots. 'He wants it to be close-knit, in house,' Henley said. 'Everything is love and football and family, and that's how we go about our business. Now that we have another year under our belt, we've had bad games and good games and we've gone the distance and also didn't accomplish what we wanted to, all of that wrapped into one, is what's motivating us and pushing us forward.' With momentum from a successful start to the Harbaugh era, the team hopes to make consecutive playoff appearances for the first time since 2009. 'We're far ahead of where we were last year, but there's still a lot of work to do,' quarterback Justin Herbert said during minicamp. 'I think guys have done a great job this offseason of showing up mentally prepared and being focused day in and day out.' Herbert's jersey patches require multiple rows of lightning bolt tally marks to display his numerous NFL and Chargers records. Yet the quarterback is missing a playoff win mark. Not only is he 0-2 in the postseason, both losses came in spectacular disasters. The Chargers blew a 27-point lead against Jacksonville in a 2022 wild-card game. He threw four interceptions against the Houston Texans last year. Despite Herbert's elite athleticism and arm talent, the 27-year-old will remain an afterthought in the quarterback hierarchy until he finds the playoff success that follows contemporaries Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow and Lamar Jackson. The prize they're all chasing is worth much more than a new jersey patch. Etc. The Chargers placed five players on the physically unable to perform list before training camp: S Elijah Molden, WR Mike Williams, WR Jaylen Johnson, LB Del'Shawn Phillips and T Savion Washington. Molden, who signed a three-year extension in February, underwent offseason knee surgery and missed all of the offseason program. He said in April that he expected to be ready for training camp. Where Billy Napier lands on CBS Sports Hot Seat Rankings
A year ago, Dennis Dodd of CBS Sports gave Florida head coach Billy Napier a four (out of five) hot seat rating and listed him second on the "now or never" section of his breakdown. The Gators rattled off four wins to cap off an 8-5 2024 campaign, and Dodd retired, leaving the door open for a fresh assessment ahead of the 2025 season. With a new methodology in place, and multiple minds meeting to provide a more precise rating for all 136 FBS head coaches, the CBS Sports Staff gave Napier a 3.67 heading into his fourth year in Gainesville. Eight head coaches are on a hotter seat than Napier, according to this system, including Arkansas's Sam Pittman, Auburn's Hugh Freeze and Oklahoma's Brent Venables. Wisconsin's Luke Fickell is tied with Napier for the ninth hottest seat in the country. "Our panel of nine experts rated every coach on a scale from 0 to 5," reads the methodology. "The average score offers a clearer picture of the hot seat landscape heading into the 2025 season. Across the FBS, things appear relatively stable — at least for now — with 88 of 136 coaches receiving a composite rating between 0 and 1.99, indicating they're "safe and secure." But among the (seven) coaches with ratings higher than "4", and even the (21) with scores above "3", there are big-name programs that will demand attention after the slightest stumble." Matt Zenitz, Shehan Jeyarajah, Brandon Marcello, John Talty, Tom Fornelli, Bud Elliott, Chris Hummer, Chip Patterson and Richard Johnson make up the panel. What Billy Napier needs to stay at Florida Things looked bleak for Napier after a blowout loss to Texas last season. Graham Mertz had already gone down with his ACL injury and DJ Lagway got hurt in the Georgia game a week earlier. Now 4-5 on the season with LSU and Ole Miss coming up, Florida needed an upset to reach bowl eligibility. Athletic director Scott Stricklin released a public vote of confidence in favor of Napier, both confusing and riling up the fan base. Still, Florida committed to seeing things through with Napier and it paid off on the recruiting front. Upsets against LSU and Ole Miss with DJ Lagway running the show also helped Florida secure the No. 7-ranked class, a program best since 2013. Once again, Napier and Florida face the league's toughest schedule. Winning two of three against LSU, Miami and Texas would put everyone in a good position, but dropping two of three means Texas A&M and Mississippi State become must-wins. The Georgia game is the golden snitch of it all. Beating Kirby Smart in Jacksonville in front of recruits is the best thing a Florida coach can do for his career. Still, it's easier said than done. There are three winnable games against Kentucky, Ole Miss and Tennessee before the regular season finale against Florida State. A nine-win season would show progression under Napier, but an eight-win year could spell doom in the sport's most impatient conference.
