CF Montreal transfer M Nathan Saliba to Anderlecht
CF Montreal transferred homegrown midfielder Nathan Saliba to Belgium's RSC Anderlecht on Thursday.
Saliba, 21, had one goal and one assist in 16 MLS matches (15 starts) this season, his third with Montreal.
His deal with the Belgian Pro League powerhouse came with a reported $3 million transfer fee.
"We are very proud of Nathan's progression over the last few years," said Montreal managing director Luca Saputo.
"Despite his young age, he has established himself as a starter and leader on the team, which has also allowed him to earn a spot with the national team. He began his career with us at the academy and is now fulfilling his dream of playing in Europe. On behalf of the club, I would like to thank Nathan for his contribution over the years."
Saliba recorded two goals and two assists in 68 career appearances (53 starts) with Montreal.
He will see a familiar face at Anderlecht with sporting director Olivier Renard, who worked in the Montreal front office from 2019-24.
