Cristhian Mosquera makes emotional confession ahead of Arsenal transfer
The Spanish club appear to have failed in their attempts to convince the defender to sign a new contract and remain with them.
After seeing at least one offer rejected, Arsenal are now understood to have made a significant breakthrough in negotiations with Valencia and are on the verge of making another significant addition to their squad.
Mosquera is booked in for a medical that is due to take place at the Gunners' London Colney training base on Tuesday ahead of his €20million move.
Speaking from his car as he left Valencia for the final time, he said: 'Valencia is my home and it always will be.

'I arrived when I was 12, and now I'm leaving as a grown man, a little sad because you've been here your whole life, but decisions in football are like that. Now a new era begins.'
When asked about his departure, Mosquera added: 'I prefer the club to talk first , and then whatever happens, it will happen. It's exciting, but it's also sad.'
Despite the emotional wrench of leaving his boyhood club, the 21-year-old was steadfast in his determination to join Arsenal.
Aside from the efforts made by Valencia to keep the Spain Under-23 international, Mosquera also received interest from clubs in Italy as well as Bournemouth who are looking to replace Dean Huijsen.
Mosquera's desire to be part of Mikel Arteta's project is admirable given the competition he is likely to face for a place in Arsenal's first team.
Gabriel Magalhaes, who has just signed a new long-term contract, and William Saliba form arguably the most impressive central defensive partnership in Europe, while Riccardo Calafiori is expected to figure more prominently this term. More Trending
Arsenal are likely, however, to listen to offers for Jakub Kiwior who impressed at the end of last season in place of the injured Gabriel.
The Poland international joined Arsenal two-and-a-half years ago from Spezia and has regularly been linked with a return to Italy.
Arsenal have already terminated the contract of Takehiro Tomiyasu and arelikely to deem Oleksandr Zinchenko surplus to requirements.

Arsenal in 'serious negotiations' to sign Bayern Munich star
Arsenal have held 'serious negotiations' to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Joao Palhinha this summer, according to reports in Germany. There has been a flurry of activity at Arsenal in recent days after a somewhat quiet start to the transfer window, with Martin Zubimendi, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Christian Norgaard all signing on the dotted line at the Emirates. The Gunners are also working on deals for Valencia centre-back Cristhian Mosquera and Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres, while personal terms have reportedly been agreed with Crystal Palace forward Eberechi Eze. Though Arsenal have managed to fill the void left by Jorginho and Thomas Partey by capturing both Zubimendi and Norgaard, it's understood the north Londoners remain open to the prospect of further strengthening the base of their midfield. A report from German publication Bild suggests Arsenal have expressed a strong interest in Palhinha and there was 'almost a major transfer' before Bayern got their Club World Cup campaign up and running. It's claimed Palhinha finds himself high up on Arsenal's shortlist of targets in midfield and 'concrete figures' have been discussed with a view to luring the ex-Fulham man back to Premier League football. But at this stage, Arsenal are yet to come close to reaching an agreement for Palhinha and the Gunners have been forced to explore other avenues to bolster Mikel Arteta's options in the middle of the park. Serie A giants Inter Milan are also keeping close tabs on Palhinha's situation and there have been other offers from England, Italy, Spain, Turkey and Portugal in recent weeks. While Palhinha's 'big dream' is to stay put and make a success of his time at Bayern Munich, the report states that an 'absolutely top offer' from a club of Arsenal's stature may make the former Fulham man 'think twice' about his future. Palhinha swapped Fulham for Bayern in a high-profile £47.4 million move 12 months ago, but was plagued by injury problems across a frustrating debut season with the Bundesliga champions. The Portuguese is currently competing for game-time in Bayern's midfield with Leon Goretzka, Aleks Pavlovic, Joshua Kimmich, Konrad Laimer and new signing Tom Bischof, There are still three years remaining on Palhinha's current contract at the Allianz Arena. Speaking to Sky Germany after Portugal's Nations League victory over Germany last month, Palhinha revealed that he planned to discuss his future with those in charge at Bayern. However, he underlined that he would be willing to fight for his place in Vincent Kompany's starting XI after his tough start to life in the Bundesliga. 'I still have three years left on my contract here at Bayern,' he said. More Trending 'I need to talk to the coach and sporting director about whether I'll get my chance here. If not, then we'll see. 'My dream is to be successful here. It was incredibly tough getting here. Nothing in life is easy. I'm proud to have landed here. 'There's no reason to be angry. I've won a title with Bayern and hope there is more to come. 'I will always fight, whatever the future holds.' For more stories like this, check our sport page. The real reason why Arsenal haven't completed deal for Viktor Gyokeres yet
Arsenal's deal to sign Viktor Gyokeres could be finalised by July 20 but there's a new reason why it hasn't been completed, according to reports. It was thought that the Gunners had won the race to land Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon until a shock transfer update emerged earlier this week. Arsenal's move for the Swedish international striker was believed to be at risk of a 'complete collapse' – but there has been a fresh twist after talks. Portuguese outlet Record report that there's now a 'good chance' that Arsenal's deal to sign Gyokeres could be finalised by the end of this week. Wake up to find news on your club in your inbox every morning with Metro's Football Newsletter. Sign up to our newsletter and then select your team in the link we'll send you so we can get football news tailored to you. The reason why Arsenal haven't yet completed a move for the 27-year-old is because the two clubs are 'separated by €2.5m' (£2.1m). According to another Portuguese outlet, A Bola, Arsenal have already offered Sporting €63.5m plus €10m in bonuses for Gyokeres' signature. The €2.5m difference between Arsenal and Sporting is thought to be in relation to the €10m in add-ons. The Gunners are happy to pay €7.5m in easily achievable bonus clauses, but are currently in talks with Sporting about the final €2.5m. After that is agreed, the deal should be completed. According to Record, Sporting have requested four specific clauses to included – each worth €2.5m – to total €10m in add-ons: Gyokeres' first 20 games for Arsenal Gyokeres playing 20 games in his second season Arsenal qualifying for the Champions League Gyokeres playing 40 games in his second season Arsenal are happy with each of these clauses – but feel one of them should relate to a more ambitious goal. Arsenal have long been in desperate need of a new striker, with some football pundits adamant that a lack of firepower up top is the reason why the north London club have fallen short in the last few top-flight title races. Gyokeres would surely fill the void given he's produced a remarkable tally of 97 goals and 28 assists across just 102 games for Sporting to date. But William Gallas has issued a warning to Gyokeres ahead of his expected summer move to Arsenal. 'He's not just making one step,' Gallas told Genting Casino. 'Going from Sporting to Arsenal right now is more like two or three steps. 'He will be playing against defenders who are really strong, maybe the strongest. In the first season, he will need to adapt. 'He's tall, he's massive, so I may get attacked for saying this but in Portugal, he had a much bigger advantage on the defenders. 'He will need to adapt to the Premier League defenders quickly. More Trending 'There's a chance that his second year is much stronger than his first year at Arsenal. 'But Arsenal will not be wanting to wait for a major trophy any longer. And the signing of a striker is seen as that last piece of the puzzle to do exactly that. 'I hope that, if he comes in, he hits the ground running. We've all been waiting for Arsenal to sign a killer. 'Only time will tell if Gyokeres is an assassin in the Premier League.' Badosa faces another spell on sidelines after fresh back injury
July 15 (Reuters) - Paula Badosa said she will be out of action for a few weeks due to another back injury, leaving the world number 10 in a race to be fit for next month's U.S. Open. The Spanish former world number two has worked her way back into the top 10 this year after a string of injuries, including a chronic lower back issue, had left her contemplating retirement. Badosa lost 6-2 3-6 6-4 to Katie Boulter in the first round of Wimbledon earlier this month, and in a statement on Monday said she had suffered a tear in her psoas, the muscle which connects the lower back to the top of the leg. "These are really challenging times for me but I'm staying hopeful that things will turn around soon and the light at the end of the tunnel will start to shine through," Badosa said, adding that the injury had occurred before Wimbledon. Badosa is scheduled to play alongside Stefanos Tsitsipas in the U.S. Open's revamped mixed doubles event, which will take place a week before the August 24 to September 7 singles main draw.
