Christopher West, 42, was driving his two daughters and their friend when he hit the schoolgirl at about 9:30pm on 1 May 2023.
Now, over two years later, Keely's parents have revealed their "incredible" daughter had received a life-saving kidney transplant just months before she was tragically killed.
West admitted to killing the teenager at Cardiff Magistrates' Court in May, where it was also heard that the dad had been driving between 32 and 42mph on a road with a 30mph limit.
After hitting the girl, West was arrested and questioned by police who also performed a drugs and alcohol test on the driver.
Both test results came out negative.
Judge Murphy granted the dad conditional bail and told him not to make any contact - direct or indirect - with Keely's family or to enter certain areas in Caerau.
He has also been banned from driving until his sentencing.
A sentencing hearing at Cardiff Crown Court on Friday heard that West had been driving a "little fast" and had been "snaking" his Vauxhall Astra.
The court also heard the dad turned to his daughters and said: "Shall I remove the black box?" before driving from Barry Island to Ely.
His daughter said her dad had been "showing off" on the drive.

Kevin Seal, representing West, said his client had shown genuine remorse for causing the teenager's death, adding that he would have to live with the grief and regret for the rest of his life.
The court also heard a number of emotional statements read by Keely's family including from her mum, Sian Morgan.
Sian said her daughter had been given a "second chance of life" aged 13 and had fought "so hard" to live a normal life.
The tragedy of her "preventable" death will haunt her forever, she continued.

In a victim statement, she said: "She fought so hard to have the opportunity to live a normal life and have the joys of being a teenager.
"She remained brave, courageous, and positive, but those dreams have been cruelly taken from her in an instant.
"She'll never be able to finish school, go to university, follow her dreams, experience the joys and the milestones of life.
"She had so much love to give. She was truly an incredible person with promise and a future ahead of her."
The young girl's devastated parents described the tragedy as "beyond repair" and a loss they will carry for the rest of their lives.
Sian said: "Every day I wake up and relive a nightmare. Her loss ripples through every part of our lives.
Her life mattered. Her death must mean something. No sentence will ever bring her back.
Sian Morgan
"My heart aches every day for my daughter who I can no longer hug or see the incredible person she could have been.
"The world is a darker place without her. The trauma of losing her in a sudden, violent, but preventable way haunts us."
She added: "This was totally avoidable. That one decision, that one moment, took everything from us.
"A pedestrian crossing is meant to protect people like Keely who was using the crossing appropriately as she had a right to do so but she was struck and killed.
"Her life was taken by the drastic failure of you and you alone. You had a duty to uphold fundamental safety laws of being safe while driving and you chose not to do so.
"She was an irreplaceable part of my life and her family loved her more than words can say.
"Her life mattered. Her death must mean something. No sentence will ever bring her back."
Sentencing has been adjourned until July 17 at Cardiff Crown Court.

Moment drug dealer tells cops ‘good day at the office, lads' as he's caught with £1MILLION of cocaine after 120mph chase

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) THIS is the moment a drug dealer jokes with cops after he is caught with more than £1 million of cocaine following a high speed chase. The wisecracking dealer led officers on a 120mph car chase down the M5 before finally being arrested. Footage of the dramatic scene shows cops chasing Sherratt down the busy three lane motorway as he flees ahead of them in a desperate attempt to avoid arrest. After the dealer is flashed by the officers blue lights he pulls over onto the hard shoulder and accelerates hard. Pursued by police cruisers and a helicopter Sherratt reaches speeds of 120mph in his bid to evade the law. Video shows officers at the side of the motorway deploying spike strips across the road, known as stingers, and bursting two of fleeing Sherratt's tyres. He continues to run with cops in hot pursuit before one of his tyres explodes and comes loose, rolling across the now empty motorway. Sherratt pulls over after losing the tyre and is quickly dragged from the car by officers. After they detain the fleeing drug dealer officers search the vehicle and discover a massive haul of cocaine in the boot of his car. Several bricks of cocaine, wrapped in brown plastic and concealed in Sports Direct bags, are found. Sherratt is quickly arrested for being in possession of more than £1 million worth of cocaine and surprisingly proceeds to joke with the coppers. Dramatic moment idiot driver speeds off road, spins out of control and crashes into police car As Sherratt and two officers stand by the dealers wrecked motor he can be heard saying: "Good day at the office isn't it for you? Good day at the office lads." The shameless dealer is then frisked and bundled into the back of a police vehicle. Each of the Sports Direct bags discovered by officers was carrying 18kg of cocaine, the total wholesale value of which was up to £1.3 million. Sherratt told officers that their discovery amounted to "not a bad day" for them. 5 The cocaine was discovered in the boot of his car after a 120mph chase Credit: PA 5 Officers found the cocaine in Sports Direct bags Credit: SWNS 5 Officers discovered 18kg of cocaine in David's car Credit: PA He was also seen smashing an object, later confirmed to be his phone, against the dashboard of his car in a bid to destroy evidence. Officers from West Midlands Police were able to examine the phone and discovered the drug dealer had been involved in collecting a further 135kg of drugs, worth up to £5 million in total. Sherratt delivered the drugs across the country and was paid £200 per kilo delivered. The dealer was expecting to make £20,000 in just six weeks for his work. At Birmingham Crown Court last Monday, July 7, Sherratt, was jailed for 12 years and nine months after admitting being concerned in the supply of cocaine, possessing the drug with into to supply, and dangerous driving. The career lag has 12 convictions for 19 offences dating back to 1995. He was jailed for six years in 2016 for conspiracy to supply class A drugs, and more than four years in 2020 for further drugs offences. Det Ch Insp Peter Cooke, of the Regional Organised Crime Unit for the West Midlands, said: 'This is a major recovery of drugs that would have ultimately been sold on the streets of the UK and caused untold misery. 'Sherratt's attempt to get away from our officers was dangerous and put other road users at risk, but great work by the Road Crime Team meant the pursuit was brought to a safe conclusion. 'He played a significant role in the distribution of drugs around the country, but will now be spending years behind bars.'

Florida man who killed 2 people outside a bar is scheduled to be executed

STARKE, Fla. — A man who fatally shot a man and woman outside a Florida bar as part of an attempted revenge killing is scheduled to be executed on Tuesday. Michael Bernard Bell, 54, is scheduled to receive a lethal injection at Florida State Prison near Starke, barring a last-day reprieve. He was convicted in 1995 and sentenced to death for the murders of Jimmy West and Tamecka Smith. Bell would be the eighth person put to death in Florida this year, with a ninth scheduled for later this month. The state executed six people in 2023, but carried out only one execution last year. Twenty-five men have already been executed in the U.S. this year, tying last year's total. Florida has executed more people than any other state this year, while Texas and South Carolina are tied for second place with four each. Alabama has executed three people, Oklahoma has killed two, and Arizona, Indiana, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee each have killed one. In December 1993, Bell spotted what he thought was the car of the man who fatally shot his brother earlier that year, according to court records. Bell was apparently unaware that the man had sold the car to West. Bell called on two friends and armed himself with an AK-47 rifle, authorities said. They found the car parked outside a liquor lounge and waited. When West, Smith and another woman eventually exited the club, Bell approached the car and opened fire, officials said. West died at the scene, and Smith died on the way to the hospital. The other woman escaped injury. Witnesses said Bell also fired at a crowd of onlookers before fleeing the area. He was eventually arrested the next year. Bell was later convicted of three additional murders. He fatally shot a woman and her toddler son in 1989, and he killed his mother's boyfriend about four months before the attack on West and Smith, officials said. Attorneys for Bell have filed appeals with the Florida Supreme Court and the U.S. Supreme Court. The lawyers argued in their state filing that Bell's execution should be halted because of newly discovered evidence about witness testimony. But justices unanimously rejected the argument last week and pointed to overwhelming evidence of Bell's guilt in a 54-page opinion.
