Deaf-mute minor girl found killed on railway track in Bidadi
BENGALURU: A 14-year-old deaf-mute girl was found murdered next to the Bengaluru-Mysuru railway track at Bhadrapura in Bidadi on Monday morning. The body was in a semi-nude state and the victim's head was smashed with a blunt weapon, said the police.
'The postmortem was conducted at Rajarajeswari Hospital. The killer is yet to be arrested. The Forensic Science Lab report will throw light if there was an assault on the victim,' said R Srinivas Gowda, Ramanagara District Superintendent of Police.
The victim was a ninth standard student at a residential school at Tavarekere in Magadi and had come home due to summer holidays. The girl, who stays at Hakki Pikki Colony in Manchanayakanahalli in Bidadi, had gone missing around 5 pm on Sunday. The next morning around 7 am passersby saw the body and alerted the police.
The victim's mother, who was informed by the villagers, rushed near the railway track and identified that it was her daughter. She then filed a complaint with the police on Monday morning.
The police suspect that the victim must have been murdered late Sunday night elsewhere and the body was thrown next to the railway track to mislead investigations. 'Even the victim's elder sister and elder brother are also verbally challenged and cannot hear. Her father has died,' a police officer said.
DCM visits victim's family, gives Rs 4.25 lakh compensation
'She has a stepfather and mother. A few suspects have been taken into custody and are being questioned,' said a police officer. Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar visited the family and said the government would provide justice to the family.
'The family is not suspecting anybody. Probe will be done from all angles, including that of rape. We have given Rs 4.25 lakh as compensation to the family,' the DCM told the media.
G Pallavi, Chairperson of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Nomadic and Semi- Nomadic Development Corporation, visited the family and also held a meeting with the Ramanagara DC and Superintendent of Police.
'As per the police, the accused must be locals. The family had to be convinced to cremate the body on Wednesday,' Pallavi said.

The husband and in-laws of a 27-year-old woman have been arrested after she died by suicide in Tamil Nadu's Tiruppur, allegedly after facing physical and mental abuse over dowry. The woman, Ridhanya, daughter of garment manufacturer Annadurai, had married 28-year-old Kavin Kumar in April this year. The match was allegedly sealed with a promise of 500 sovereigns (about 4 kg) of gold jewellery and a luxury Volvo car worth Rs 70 lakh, police officials said. According to investigators, only 300 sovereigns were handed over during the wedding, and pressure for the remaining 200 grew steadily, allegedly leading to repeated abuse. On Saturday, Ridhanya left her in-laws' home, saying she was heading to the Mondipalayam temple. Several hours later, police were alerted to a car parked in the area. Inside, they found Ridhanya unresponsive, with foam at her mouth — she had reportedly consumed fumigant pesticide tablets. Her body was sent to the government hospital in Avinashi and handed over to the family on Sunday following a post-mortem. Speaking to PTI, Vipin Raghuvanshi said, '…The jewellery was found at a location in Ratlam linked to one of Shilom James's acquaintances. If Shilom James, the property dealer, took the jewellery there, others were likely involved as well. He must be interrogated thoroughly." He also said that he would approach the Meghalaya High Court and file a petition seeking a narco test. 'I believe more accused individuals may come to light in this case," he added. This comes only a day after the Meghalaya Police recovered the jewellery, and a laptop, and pen drive of Sonam from the house of the in-laws of Silome James. Notably, James was the lessee of the building at Heera Bagh Colony in Indore, where Sonam had stayed and stored valuables. Earlier the SIT team revealed that Sonam's boyfriend, Raj Kushwaha, had also kept a firearm, jewellery, and a laptop in the flat, which was rented by murder co-accused Vishal Chauhan. The flat was leased by James on May 30 for Rs 17,000 per month. The box in which the jewellery was stored was burnt by James before his arrest. Earlier on June 26, the Meghalaya Police recovered a country-made pistol, two magazines and ammunition that were purchased by Raja's wife's alleged lover, Raj Kushwaha, for a second murder attempt in case the first attempt failed. Raja Raghuvanshi was allegedly killed by three hitmen hired by Raj Kushwaha in Meghalaya. His decomposed body was found days after the couple was reported missing from their honeymoon.
