Trick Liam and Noel Gallagher are using to protect voices on Oasis tour
Liam and Noel Gallagher are using humble paper straws to help keep their voices in top shape on the Oasis multi-million pound reunion tour. The brothers kicked off the Oasis Live '25 tour last weekend with two nights at Cardiff's Principality Stadium with fans blown away by how the band sounded after 16 years away, with both Liam, 52, and Noel, 58, praised for their vocals.
The secret to the siblings' performance is a vocal warm-up technique which involves humming into a paper straw for 30 minutes before they step on stage.
The technique, which is recommended by doctors and vocal coaches, is known as straw phonation and it is medically proven to relax the vocal cords and improve vocal efficiency as the resistance provided by the straw allows for a more balanced and coordinated vibration of the vocal folds, reducing strain.
Noel was seen walking through the backstage area, blowing into the straw just before he got on stage to sing classics like Half The World Away and Little By Little, whilst Liam has used the technique for his solo shows for the last few years.
A source said: 'Noel and Liam are doing everything in their power to ensure they sound at their very best for these mammoth sold-out shows. It is well know that Liam has had issues with his voice in the past and he has found straw phonation to be a great way to warm-up his vocal cords.
'Noel has been an advocate of it for years since he had issues with his voice when he supported U2 on tour in 2019. It has made a huge difference to how he sings. There will be plenty of paper straws backstage for the brothers, but they won't be used to sip cocktails.'
Noel previously spoke about using the paper straw technique on The Matt Morgan Podcast in 2022. He said: 'When I was on tour with U2 and there was a lot of parties.
"At one point, when we were in Australia, my voice was shattered, it was in a bad way. We'd been out late the night before and we had a gig the next day and I woke up and my voice was f***** and wasn't coming back.
'So, I went to see a vocal specialist in Melbourne. I go in there and the guy says, 'Sit down Mr. Gallagher, so I believe your voice is a bit crook?' I said, 'Yeah. It's a bit f*****, I've been on the road for a couple of years.'

He said, 'Do you warm up before you go on stage?' I said, 'A bit, but I don't really like belting it out.' To cut a long story short he gave me this straw, just a normal paper straw, and he said, 'Half an hour before you go on, in your room, put some music on and put this straw in your mouth and just hum along to whatever comes on and your vocal cords will warm up.' I went, 'Really?' And he said, 'Just try it mate, it will change your life.' I did and it's an amazing little trick.
'I was a bit sceptical, but it really does work. Usually it would take me a couple of tunes to get into it and now I'm straight into it, straight off the bat. I carry them everywhere now, I have a little pot of paper straws. Some of the girls in the office went, 'Are you smoking again? People saw you carrying around a cigarette backstage, looks so cool.' I was like, 'No, it's just a straw to warm up with.'
'The doctor said to me, 'Maybe do it for half an hour after so you warm down.' I would get on the bus and it would take half an hour to get back, I'd hum a little ditty on the way back whilst checking messages on my phone and you're all good.'
The tour moves to Manchester's Heaton Park on Friday before dates in London, Edinburgh and Dublin and a world tour.
viagogo and resale tickets
Sites such as viagogo, Stubhub, and Vivid Seats allow fans to buy resale tickets from other fans. However, it is important to note that ticket conditions often prohibit resale after initial purchase. Those tickets may not be valid for admittance to gigs.
Fans intending to buy tickets for live events through resale websites should check the ticket terms and conditions, to confirm whether resale is prohibited, before they buy. Ticket terms and conditions can be checked with the original seller, such as Ticketmaster or Live Nation. If resale is prohibited, tickets bought second-hand could be voided and admission to the event refused.

Kelsey Parker surrounds herself with family after loss of baby son in poignant snap
Podcast host Kelsey Parker has made a return to social media for the first time since announcing the devastating death of her third child as she takes a break away Kelsey Parker has surrounded herself with her family as she takes a much-needed trip away following the death of her third child. The Wanted star Tom Parker's widow sadly announced her third child was born stillborn last month. She shares her child with her partner Will Lindsay, and broke the devastating news on social media as she revealed they had a little boy named Phoenix. Since then, Kelsey has taken time away from social media and a break away from her day-to-day life. Marking her return to Instagram, Kelsey shared a family photo with Will and her two children with Tom, Aurelia, six, and Bodhi, four. They soaked up the sun in a hot location as they looked out at a stunning view together. The podcaster chose not to share where they have decided to take a break to, but said: "Exactly what we needed. Thank you @jet2 for making it so easy. X." Just last month, Kelsey shared the heartbreaking news of her son on her account. Her devastating tribute to her son included one simple heartbreaking caption: 'Phoenix Parker-Lindsay, you will forever be loved." She added a moving poem, entitled For Phoenix, Born Sleeping, Forever Loved. The poem read: 'The world grew quiet as you arrived, So loved, so longed for, yet not alive. Our precious boy, our angel light, Born with wings, took silent flight. 'We named you Phoenix, brave and bright. A soul of love, of warmth and light. Though we never heard you cry, You'll live in hearts that won't ask why. No breath you drew, no eyes to see, Still, you mean everything to me. You'll journey with us, softly near, In every sigh, in every tear.' Kelsey was flooded with support from her followers as well as celebrity pals, which she preempted with a message. In her post, she wrote: "Before I receive an influx of lovely messages and heartfelt wishes, I wanted to just say that I truly appreciate everything you are all going to say and share. "But with the news being so raw, I would really like to ensure that we as a family are given space and time to process this devastating and earth-shattering news. I love you all and thank you for your understanding and space. Love always, Kelsey, Will, and the Parker Family." Kelsey shares children Aurelia, five, and Bodhi, four, with The Wanted star Tom Parker, who tragically died from brain cancer in 2022 at the age of 33, four years after they married. She had opened up to the Mirror in January about her excitement at welcoming a third child into the family home which she now shares with tree surgeon Will, after finding love again last September. Confessing that the baby, which would have been Will's first child, was a "happy accident", Kelsey said she was gently preparing Aurelia and Bodhi for a new sibling. Will also told us: "I'm over the moon. This is something I've wanted for a long time. I couldn't be happier and I know Kelsey is going to be an amazing mum, as she already is." Prince William and Kate Middleton 'eyeing up move to bigger Royal home'
The Prince and Princess of Wales have reportedly been looking for a new home just three years after moving to Adelaide Cottage. Prince William and Kate Middleton are reportedly on the hunt for a new, grander Royal residence, despite only moving to their current spot just three years ago. The couple moved to Adelaide Cottage in 2022, and while it's a comfortable abode within the grounds of Windsor Castle, it was never expected to be their permanent base, reports the Mirror. The four-bedroom property is relatively modest by Royal standards, and it's understood that they've been discreetly exploring other options, with insiders suggesting they have a preferred choice. Adelaide Cottage pales in comparison to the family's previous full-time residence - a lavish apartment in Kensington Palace - and they're seeking a larger home for their children, George, Charlotte and Louis. It seems that the top contender is Fort Belvedere, a magnificent gothic revival mansion located in Windsor Great Park. Sources told the Mail on Sunday that William and Kate might be considering the 18th Century estate. It was the favourite home of Edward VIII before he abdicated to marry Wallis Simpson. Edward renovated the property, adding a swimming pool, tennis court, and stables. It's a vast estate with a long driveway leading to the entrance and even boasts a moat. It's believed that William and Kate had previously considered the vacant Fort Belvedere before settling on Adelaide Cottage. At that time, they reportedly felt that Adelaide Cottage was more suitable as it was closer to Queen Elizabeth, and they also wanted to provide their children with a more grounded upbringing. However, the situation has evolved and the Grade II listed property could be the solution to their current itchy feet. The Mail source said: "They feel they have outgrown Adelaide Cottage and need somewhere more substantial. This is the perfect new home for them. It has a swimming pool and tennis court, and Charlotte loves playing tennis." Previously, it was suggested that the Wales family could expand their living space through an annex building by Adelaide Cottage, thus avoiding a move. Another insider told the Express: "Nobody knows that there is quite a spacious red-brick annex building that's not being used next door to Adelaide Cottage. It's currently inhabitable and needs extensive renovation works if it were to be used. "Discussions have been ongoing for a while about using the property as part of the overall cottage grounds, but it's just about finding the right time to kick the project off." The Wales family's impending move isn't the only upheaval in the Firm at the moment. Speculation about potential peace negotiations between Prince Harry and King Charles has intensified in recent days. It comes after reports that senior advisers to both Royals were seen at a London meeting. But a Royal commentator was unconvinced that healing the family divide is possible any more. A confidant of Princess Anne had suggested that Harry should have turned to his aunt during his difficult period. But former BBC Royal correspondent Jennie Bond reckons it's now too late for the Duke of Sussex to seek counsel from the Princess Royal or rely on her to repair the fractured bond between himself and his father. Ms Bond claimed Harry had been "extremely disloyal" to the Firm, which wouldn't be looked on well by Anne. She said: "To Anne, loyalty is paramount, and I suspect she feels that Harry has been extremely disloyal to his father, his brother and the monarchy. She might well find that hard to forgive."
