Daisy Edgar-Jones just wore this $40 Australian-made fake tan on the red carpet in Cannes

7NEWS23-05-2025
Let's be honest, red carpet beauty prep feels a long way from our everyday bronzing routine, but when Daisy Edgar-Jones stepped onto the Cannes red carpet looking like a glowy goddess, we collectively needed answers.
The actress, known for her roles in Normal People, Twisters, and On Swift Horses, wasn't glowing by chance; she was tanned to perfection by celebrity tanner James Harknett using Australian-made, certified organic Three Warriors self-tan.
Yep, this local legend of a beauty brand helped Daisy look like she'd just returned from a week on the Amalfi Coast, not stepped off a plane and into the glare of international flashbulbs.
So, how can you get Daisy's lit-from-within bronze without a glam squad?
James Harknett, aka the man behind the glow, spilled his red carpet tanning secrets, and it starts with prep.
'Daisy's prep is always on point,' James says.
'She always follows my tips to a T. A cool rinse, exfoliation, and making sure the skin is clean and oil-free. She uses the Three Warriors Tasmanian Sand Scrub, which creates the perfect canvas.'
Step 1: Start with a smooth canvas:
Exfoliating Tasmanian Sand Scrub, $29.95 at Adore Beauty
This gentle, natural scrub is packed with real Tasmanian sand (no microplastics here) and works to buff away dead skin cells while hydrating with Aloe Vera and Coconut Oil.
It's ideal for removing any patchy remnants of last week's tan and smoothing the skin pre-application.
Step 2: Go for glow, not orange:
Self Tan Mousse, $38.95 at Adore Beauty
Described as ' nothing too strong ' by James, this lightweight mousse builds a natural-looking tan with warm bronze tones that suit fair to medium skin beautifully.
It smells like vanilla and lime (not the usual biscuit), dries quickly, and fades like a dream.
'I use fine layering to build colour and even contour,' James shares. 'The olive and violet tones in Three Warriors neutralise orange, which is key.'
Step 3: Don't skip the aftercare:
James swears by cool showers, no oily body products, and gentle moisturisers to make your glow last. Avoid harsh face products too; anything with AHAs will strip your tan fast.
His favourite trick to maintain the glow? Three Warriors' Hydrabronze Tanning Drops added to your night cream.
'The perfect colour and hydration boost,' he says.
From Hobart to Hollywood
Three Warriors founder Corbin Halliday says seeing his brand go from small-batch beginnings in Tasmania to the Cannes Film Festival is still surreal.
'I never dreamed it would end up on the red carpet with A-list celebrities,' he said. 'Seeing it grow from Hobart to Hollywood is honestly surreal.'

Julian McMahon dies weeks after WA-shot The Surfer released

Just weeks after audiences witnessed one of Julian McMahon's finest performances, opposite Nicolas Cage in the WA-shot psychological thriller The Surfer, the Australian actor has died from cancer aged 56. Wife Kelly Paniagua confirmed the star died on Wednesday in Clearwater, Florida, after a private battle with the disease but did not go into specifics. 'With an open heart, I wish to share with the world that my beloved husband, Julian McMahon, died peacefully this week after a valiant effort to overcome cancer,' she said. 'Julian loved life. He loved his family. He loved his friends. He loved his work, and he loved his fans. His deepest wish was to bring joy into as many lives as possible.' One of McMahon's last interviews was with The West Australian, and the son of former Prime Minister Billy McMahon spoke in glowing terms of his experience making The Surfer with Cage in Yallingup in 2023. But hindsight casts a very different light on one of his last public appearances, at the film's US premiere at South by Southwest in Texas, where the star looked considerably more gaunt than his character in the movie. His death brings an end to a fascinating career of highs and, ultimately, unfulfilled potential, which began with a 150-episode stint on Home and Away as main character Ben Lucini. He met future wife Dannii Minogue in Summer Bay, and even starred in the music video of the singer's hit, This Is It, recorded as a tribute to their relationship. The marriage lasted 18 months. By that point, McMahon was living in America and trying to make it big on US network television, starting with a 22-episode character arc on the NBC soap opera, Another World. The actor's biggest film role came playing the villainous Victor Von Doom, AKA Dr Doom, in the 2005 superhero movie The Fantastic Four and its 2007 sequel, Rise of the Silver Sequel. For you, your family and loving fans all over the world, I pray comfort'. Former Mr Fantastic, British star Ioan Gruffudd, posted his own tribute. 'Even though we played each other's nemeses, there was always so much lightness and laughter working together. Every encounter with him was a joy,' Gruffudd wrote. Speaking to The West in May, the actor gave no indication he was in a fight for his life, and even dreamed of returning to WA. 'Take me back to Yallingup, if you don't mind,' he said. McMahon was born in Sydney on July 27, 1968, and is survived by Paniagua, and his daughter, Madison, from a previous marriage.
