Eva Larue leaving 'General Hospital': 'They just hated my character so much'
After joining "General Hospital" over a year ago as domineering and intolerant mother figure Natalia Rogers-Ramirez, LaRue's character is getting the boot.
"I was originally only supposed to be on the show for a couple of months," LaRue told Soap Opera Digest, in an interview published Monday, June 30, announcing her exit. "And it ended up being a much longer run, which was great — and really fun because there are so many 'All My Children' actors there and so it felt like home."
LaRue cut her teeth as a soap star on "All My Children," appearing as Maria Santos Grey on the series for stints in the mid '90s and 2000s.
She told Soap Opera Digest that months before her exit, she began to see the writing on the wall.

"I started to feel it in January," she said. "They tried to rehabilitate my character."
"People just weren't buying it, because they just hated my character so much," she explained. "I was so vilified that no matter what (the writers) did, it just wasn't a solid enough rehabilitation," especially in relation to her character's onscreen romance with Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), one of "General Hospital's" central characters.
"When they finally let that idea go, I realized, 'OK, I'm probably not much longer for this world,'" she explained, citing the writer's decision to abandon the relationship.
While LaRue's exit may feel like a welcome reprieve for the show's dogged fanbase, who often derided her character's bad mothering, those who work on the soap are sad to see her go.
"Eva's been a dear friend for years, and I am so pleased we found an opportunity to work together," Frank Valentini, the show's executive producer, said in a statement to Entertainment Weekly.
"What originally was meant as a guest star arc turned into a longer and more satisfying arc, in thanks to Eva's terrific work and chemistry with our cast," he added. "I was thrilled Eva was available to us in this extended role. I wish her all the best in her upcoming projects."
As for LaRue, while she enjoyed her time on the show, she's glad to leave the villainess arc behind.
She said it was a "hard" role "for me as a person."
"In daytime, when you play a character like Maria Santos (her 'All My Children' role), love her or hate her, she was not ever meant to be a vilified character. And so it was hard from being that character, being a fan favorite, to being, like, literally hated," she told Soap Opera Digest.
"The GH fans couldn't stand (Natalia)!" La Rue said. "So that was tough, because especially if you are accustomed to being rooted for, to be rooted against is not as comfortable."

Days of Our Lives' Linsey Godfrey Says Sarah: "Doesn't Want Xander to Have 50-50 Custody"
Days of Our Lives' Linsey Godfrey Says Sarah: "Doesn't Want Xander to Have 50-50 Custody" originally appeared on Daytime Confidential. Things are about to get ugly for Days of Our Lives' Xander () and Sarah Horton Kiriakis () as the duo prepare to square off for custody of their daughter, Victoria, in the aftermath of Xander beating the brakes off of little brother Philip () for his duplicitous scheme of forging a letter from their late father Victor (the late John Aniston) that made him co-CEO of Titan. Now that Philip has regained consciousness, Sarah was hoping he'd snitch on Xander to help bolster her case, but alas, he's not ratting his bro out. In an interview with Soap Opera Digest, Godfrey discusses where she sees things playing out with the two regarding little Victoria. Sarah doesn't want Xander to have 50-50 custody of their daughter. She's just too afraid of the variables that come with being alone with Xander and with being attached to Xander. This story was originally reported by Daytime Confidential on Jun 21, 2025, where it first appeared.

Audience groans as Mark Consuelos jokes about Kelly Ripa's breast size, says wife needs 'toddler-sized' workout vest
The Live audience groaned in a mix of shock and awe at Mark Consuelos' latest observation about his wife, Kelly Ripa. Morning TV's spiciest couple kicked off Tuesday's live show with a host chat about weighted vests that are used for exercise purposes, with Ripa admitting "I love my weighted vest," but that her body poses a particular problem when she attempts to use it. "I have the extra small, because — I'm going to say something. I'm going to say it, and I'm just gonna say it, and you're all going to have have to deal with it," Ripa said. "Because I don't have boobs — yes, I said it! There, I said it!" The studio audience applauded Ripa's candor, as Consuelos assisted the description, telling his spouse, "There needs to be something in there" to assist her workout. "There needs to be something to anchor it down, because mine fastens here, so when I walk, it just slides up, and the next thing I know, my weights are around my throat," Ripa explained. "I find myself walking while holding my vest in place." One-upping the bit, Consuelos then joked, "I guess they don't make toddler-sized weight vests just quite yet," to which the Live studio audience responded with a collective groan as Ripa turned toward them to smile. "That's right, my audience, an audience of witnesses!" Ripa said. "Anyway, they're saying it does help with things like bone density and improving your cardiovascular health." The joke came ahead of the couple's interview with ABC News broadcaster David Muir, which included a portion where Ripa told the journalist that she's taken "indecent photos" in front of his portrait inside the network's headquarters in Manhattan. "I've got to tell you, I have some very indecent photos of me standing in front of your picture that I can't show on the air," she told Muir. "Because they told me it was not suitable for broadcast."Consuelos jumped in, furthering the bit as he said that "HR was right next to her," so they "had to make sure" in the end.
