We're getting into the meat of the Stanley Cup Playoffs and The Hockey Show is elbow deep.
This week, hosts Roy Bellamy and David Dwork welcomed one of their favorite hockey broadcasters that both grew up watching.
NHL on ESPN host and play-by-play voice Steve Levy was kind enough to join the show and discuss the latest happenings in the playoffs, including the red-hot Edmonton Oilers and tightening series between the Carolina Hurricanes and Washington Capitals.
Steve also spoke about longtime friend and colleague Barry Melrose, and the boys all discussed their favorite This Is SportsCenter commercials.
As for this week's wins and fails of the week, we had polite chirping by Canadian fans, a historic run by Edmonton and a collective fail for one an embellishment call that had everyone scratching their heads.
Roy and Dave then get into the latest on the Florida Panthers, who trailed the Toronto Maple Leafs 2-0 in their best-of-seven second-round series.

Panthers 2025 training camp tracker: Top takeaways and observations from Day 5

The Carolina Panthers, for the first time this summer, have thrown on the pads. Here are the top takeaways and observations from Monday's (partially heated) outing of training camp . . . Activated Before the start of practice, the Panthers officially activated defensive lineman Bobby Brown III and punter Sam Martin from the active/non-football injury list. Both Brown and Martin were dealing with minor hamstring injuries. They are now cleared to return to the field. T-Mac hits back Rookie wideout Tetairoa McMillan was bested by starting cornerback Mike Jackson during one-on-one drills at Saturday's session. But the eighth overall pick got his lick back on the veteran this morning . . . Head coach Dave Canales talked about McMillan's breakaway speed. "He plays fast," Canales told reporters. "That was kinda going back to his film from Arizona. His play speed is what you look at. And yes, we take into consideration what the 40 time looks like. He ran a 4.5. He's fast. But he's a tall guy. And a lot of times, those guys, their stride builds up as they get going—in particular when he's running across the field. He can pretty much separate and run away from anybody, regardless of what the 40 time says." Quarterback Bryce Young then talked about McMillan's spectacular catch. "Yeah, that was a great job of him going and tracking the ball," Young stated. "It was great coverage, and that's the league. It's gonna be a lot of great corners out there, a lot of contested catches. It was a great job by T-Mac understanding leverage, fighting pressure with pressure, fading out at the last moment." McMillan also notched a few more impressive grabs, putting a stamp on what was his best showing of the summer. Still hunting McMillan wasn't the only receiver who shined on Monday. Veteran Hunter Renfrow also turned heads, continuing his standout offseason with another strong day. Renfrow, however, knows his journey to the initial 53-man roster is far from over. The former Pro Bowler praised his fellow wideouts. "We have a bunch of different personalities, bunch of different ages. But amazing," he said. "I think we have a really good group, I think we have a really talented group. It's the deepest I've ever been around. We have seven or eight guys that can comfortably go out there and play and a lot of young guys that are proving they can. "And so, it just pushes you. It pushes you every day. I think the Bible talks about iron sharpening iron—and that's what it is. And hopefully, we can do that every day and then the other people we have out there can see that and be inspired from that and make every day the best we can." Canales, who lauded Renfrow for his work again on Monday, did not rule out using the 29-year-old as a returner moving forward. Hunter Renfrow says Panthers have the deepest WR room he's ever been in

Hunter Renfrow knows that keeping a spot in the Carolina Panthers' receiver room won't be easy, but he's well on his way. The 29-year-old veteran has become one of the early standouts from this summer's training camp. He was asked, following yet another impressive practice on Monday, why he believes that's been the case. "I think just doing what the coach is asking you to do," Renfrow replied. "I think, just trying to get better every day. I think we have a good group of receivers, and deep. Very similar to when I was at Clemson. Everyone pushed each other. We had Mike Williams, we had Tee Higgins, we had Justyn Ross, Amari Rodgers, Deon Cain, Ray-Ray McCloud. We had all these five-stars. And if you didn't show up every day, you're gonna be out. It could be one little thing, one little route you didn't run the right way. Next thing you know, they get the opportunity. "So, I think that's part of it. I think having an appreciation for being back out here. Being able to feel like I can run again, feel like I can go out there and have fun with my teammates, be a part of a team, be a part of pushing towards something special. So I think it's all kinda a part of it." That appreciation stems from a lost 2024 campaign, when Renfrow was not able to suit up due to his bout with ulcerative colitis. The Myrtle Beach, S.C. native and Clemson product dove back into the NFL this past spring, signing with the Panthers on a one-year deal shortly after the 2025 draft. Renfrow has taken full advantage of his opportunity thus far, earning rave reviews from a number of staffers and teammates including head coach Dave Canales and quarterback Bryce Young. He does, however, realize that the work is far from over. "It's interesting," Renfrow said of the team's wideouts. "We have a bunch of different personalities, bunch of different ages. But amazing. I think we have a really good group, I think we have a really talented group. It's the deepest I've ever been around. We have seven or eight guys that can comfortably go out there and play and a lot of young guys that are proving they can. "And so, it just pushes you. It pushes you every day. I think the Bible talks about iron sharpening iron—and that's what it is. And hopefully, we can do that every day and then the other people we have out there can see that and be inspired from that and make every day the best we can." Carolina's depth chart, in addition to Renfrow, includes first-round picks Tetairoa McMillan and Xavier Legette, two-time Pro Bowler Adam Thielen, 2024 standout Jalen Coker and veteran David Moore.
