Alabama football 2025 season preview, predictions: Isaiah Horton

USA Today4 days ago
When taking a look at the Alabama Crimson Tide's offseason transfer portal class, there are likely few players who bring to Tuscaloosa a greater level of hype surrounding their potential impact this upcoming fall than wide receiver Isaiah Horton.
An experienced wideout, Horton comes to Tuscaloosa as a proven prospect at the power four level, joining Alabama after three seasons at Miami. Included in that span were two seasons in which Horton did not play as significant a role, as well as a campaign in which he broke out as one of the Hurricanes top receiving options.
Looking ahead to this season however, Horton now comes to Tuscaloosa where he is expected to play a key role for the Crimson Tide in 2025, likely as one of Alabama's top wideouts.
A player set to make an impact in 2025, here is everything you need to know about Alabama wide receiver Isaiah Horton entering this season.
Isaiah Horton player information
Isaiah Horton career stats
While new to Alabama, Horton is certainly not an unfamiliar face to college football overall, spending each of the last three seasons in the ACC with the Miami Hurricanes. As a member of the Hurricanes, Horton appeared in 29 games where he hauled in a combined 70 receptions for 790 yards and six touchdowns, a majority of which came in 2024 while catching passes from eventual No. 1 overall NFL draft pick Cam Ward.
Isaiah Horton 2024 stats
As mentioned previously, a majority of Horton's collegiate production while at Miami came during the 2024 season in which he enjoyed a breakout campaign for the Hurricanes. A year ago, Horton hauled in 56 receptions for a total of 616 yards and five touchdowns, each of which were career-high's.
Isaiah Horton recruiting ranking
Coming out of high school, Horton was rated as a four-star prospect before heading to Miami, as well as ranked at No. 372 overall nationally in the 2022 recruiting cycle, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. Horton also was considered as the nation's No. 56 wide receiver in the class, as well as No. 11 player in the state of Tennessee where he attended Oakland High School.
Prior to Alabama, Horton was considered as the No. 63 overall player in the transfer portal this past offseason, per 247Sports, while also rated as a four-star prospect. Horton was also considered the No. 14 overall wide receiver in the portal, and was the highest-rated of Alabama's transfer additions.
Isaiah Horton 2025 season outlook
With the duo of Ryan Williams and Germie Bernard likely cemented as Alabama's top two receiving options, the lone question mark entering the fall is likely who emerges alongside those two.
A group that includes the likes of Cole Adams, Horton however projects as the likely favorite in that conversation as we enter the fall however, in part due to his experience and size. Yes, Horton is one of Alabama's bigger wideouts in 2025, and has the proven experience at the power four level that should translate to playing in the SEC.
No, Horton might not necessarily have the same impact as former Alabama star Jameson Williams as a transfer wide receiver, but expect the former Miami standout to still rank among the Crimson Tide's most productive wideouts this fall.

Teddy Bridgewater says he has been suspended by Miami HS he coached to state title

Former NFL Pro Bowl quarterback Teddy Bridgewater has been suspended as the head football coach at his alma mater, Miami Northwestern High School, Bridgewater confirmed on social media on July 13. The suspension comes less than a week after Bridgewater detailed in a Facebook post, in which he was asking for donations for the program, that he spent $2,200 per week to feed his players pregame meals, $14,000 to conduct a training camp, $9,500 for uniforms, $1,300 a week for recovery services for players, $300 a week to keep the team's field painted and $700 for Uber rides. Advertisement Bridgewater alleged that administrators at Northwestern 'want me gone apparently.' 'The suspension came from MNW and it's impossible to suspend someone who doesn't work for you,' Bridgewater wrote. 'So if im suspended from MNW im free to go to another school of my choice but IM NOT GOING ANYWHERE. And if it comes down to it, I will volunteer from the bleachers like I used to in 2018 and 2019 when no one had a problem.' Advertisement In his first season as head coach, the 32-year-old Bridgewater led Miami Northwestern to a Class 3A state championship in Florida, with the Bulls winning each of their playoff games by at least 40 points. A former first-round pick of the Minnesota Vikings, Bridgewater played in the NFL for 10 seasons, from 2014-23, before retiring after the 2023 season. He briefly came out of retirement to join his former team, the Detroit Lions, late last December for their final two regular-season games and their divisional round playoff loss to the Washington Commanders. He resumed his role as Miami Northwestern's coach shortly after that run. Bridgewater finished his NFL career with 15,120 passing yards, 75 touchdowns and 47 interceptions while completing 66.4% of his passes. He was a Pro Bowler in 2015 after leading the Vikings to the playoffs, but suffered a catastrophic knee injury during a preseason practice in 2016 that nearly required his leg to be amputated and altered the trajectory of his career. Alabama football 2025 season preview, predictions: Noah Carter

A defensive prospect who was a new face to Tuscaloosa last season, could this mark a breakout year for Alabama Crimson Tide linebacker Noah Carter? One of the first prep commits of the Kalen DeBoer era, Carter was previously a long-time pledge to the Washington Huskies, but decommitted to eventually end up following the head coach to Tuscaloosa. With a year of collegiate experience now, Carter enters 2025 looking to make an impact as a redshirt freshman in a loaded Alabama outside linebacker room. Here is everything you need to know about Alabama linebacker Noah Carter entering the 2025 season. Noah Carter player information Noah Carter career stats Carter was a new face to college football last season, appearing in only three games for the Crimson Tide as a true freshman. Last season, Carter amassed two total tackles. Noah Carter 2024 stats As mentioned previously, Carter appeared in only three games a year ago for the Crimson Tide as a true freshman. Carter had two tackles, both of which came against Western Kentucky. Noah Carter recruiting ranking According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Carter was considered as the nation's No. 109 overall player in the 2024 recruiting class, as well as the No. 9 edge rusher nationally. A four-star prospect who committed to Alabama in Jan. 2024, Carter was also considered the No. 2 player in the state of Arizona where he attended Centennial High School. Noah Carter 2025 season outlook Yet another option to make an impact at outside linebacker, Carter is a name to watch for in 2025 when it comes to potential breakout candidates on defense. At Alabama's "Wolf" position, the Crimson Tide will return a 2024 starter in Qua Russaw, as well as other top backup options such as Jah-Marien Latham and Yhonzae Pierre. Also in that group is Carter, who is alongside others that could end emerging into larger roles as the season progresses. Overall, expect Carter to see some time defensively, but for a majority of the outside linebacker's impact to actually come on special teams. Dolphins may 'feel the most pressure to cave' to 2nd-rounder's contract demands

The Miami Dolphins signed seven of their eight 2025 NFL draft picks back in May, but with training camp set to start, they're still waiting for one more rookie to sign. Barring a last-minute contract breakthrough, offensive lineman Jonah Savaiinaea is set to officially become a holdout when rookies report to camp Tuesday. The issue isn't really Savaiinaea's fault nor does it fall on the Dolphins' shoulders. Almost every team is still working to get a second-round pick under contract after the Cleveland Browns and Houston Texans dished out fully guaranteed deals to the No. 33 and 34 overall selections, Carson Schwesinger and Jayden Higgins. Now there's a standoff between second-round picks who want a fully guaranteed contract of their own and teams that are hoping to avoid setting a precedent that can't be undone. So who will blink first? One analyst thinks the Dolphins may "feel the most pressure to cave" to Savaiinaea's demands sooner rather than later. "Savaiinaea, who is one-half of the team's offensive guard overhaul with veteran James Daniels, needs to be ready to roll when the season starts," Kyle Crabbs of A to Z Sports wrote Monday. "Missing time with an official holdout over a few million dollars off a rookie contract isn't the hill this team should be willing to die on relative to the opportunity cost of grooming Jonah to be an asset up front." While the Dolphins' starting lineup will be sorted out in camp, there's not much mystery about Savaiinaea's role up front. After Miami allowed Robert Jones and Isaiah Wynn to exit in free agency, it seems a no-brainer that the second-round pick will take over one of the starting guard roles with free agency addition James Daniels taking the other. Before the draft, Dolphins general manager Chris Grier made it clear that the team needed to find players prepared to contribute right away. "We're going to need NFL-ready players," Grier said in April. "There's no like, 'Hey, let's hope this guy is ready.' These guys are going to be forced into play." Savaiinaea's readiness will go a long way toward determining if the Dolphins can get back to the offensive explosiveness that defined the first two years of Mike McDaniel's tenure with the team. And that could mean Miami doesn't have the luxury of playing hardball with the contract holdout.
