Formation of Youth Commission in Bihar will directly benefit crores of youth: MoS Nityanand Rai
Speaking to ANI, MoS Rai said that this decision will prove beneficial in providing more employment opportunities to the youth of Bihar and making them self-reliant.
'The formation of the Youth Commission is important and historic in the direction of making the youth of Bihar self-reliant and capable of moving forward towards development and progress,' the minister said.
Rai also welcomed the state cabinet's decision to provide 35% reservation for women in state government jobs, saying that this will provide large-scale employment opportunities for women in Bihar.
'They will get more employment opportunities. This will lead to faster progress of women. Participation of women ensured more rapidly in strongly advancing the resolution of developed India and developed Bihar,' he said.
'Under the leadership of Modi Ji and Nitish Kumar, the progress and prosperity of women, youth, poor, and farmers are the first priorities, so I congratulate Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well as the NDA government of Bihar,' he added.
Highlighting the 'many historic decisions' of the Janata Dal (United)-led government, the Ujiapur MP said that such decisions are for the empowerment and upliftment of women and weaker sections.
'The NDA government of Bihar has already taken many historic decisions,' he said.
Earlier today, the Bihar cabinet approved 43 schemes and projects, including the formation of the Bihar Youth Commission, a 35 per cent reservation for women native to the State, and a Rs 100 crore diesel subsidy for farmers.
Bihar Chief Secretary S Siddharth said, 'Today, 43 agendas have been stamped in the Council of Ministers, in which the most important agenda is the formation of the Youth Commission. This commission is related to the youth of 18-45 years, which will have one chairman, two vice-chairmen and seven members.'
The Cabinet has approved a 35 per cent horizontal reservation for women from Bihar in state government services.
Taking into consideration irregular monsoons and drought, a diesel subsidy of Rs 100 crore has been approved for farmers.
Apart from this, the cabinet approved the Divyangjan Civil Seva Protsahan Scheme, under which differently abled individuals will be given Rs 50,000 and Rs 1 lakh upon passing the preliminary exams of the UPSC and BPSC. (ANI)

Chandigarh: In a move that has reignited tensions over local governance authority, the Haryana urban local bodies (ULB) department has expanded financial powers for bureaucrats overseeing municipal bodies — sidestepping long-standing demands by elected mayors and council heads for greater administrative control. A notification issued last week grants municipal commissioners and executive officers significantly higher sanctioning authority for development projects, a shift that came just days after a national conference of urban civic bodies in Gurugram called for empowering elected local representatives. In Gurugram, municipal commissioners can now approve development works up to Rs 2.5 crore (previously Rs 50 lakh). Projects worth Rs 2.5-10 crore will require approval from a finance committee chaired by the mayor. Projects above Rs 10 crore and Rs 25 crore will go to the ULB minister and the chief minister, respectively. In other municipal corporations, commissioners can now sanction works up to Rs 1 crore independently. Finance committees can approve up to Rs 10 crore, with larger projects routed to higher authorities in a similar tiered structure. Municipal councils and committees will follow the same slabs as smaller corporations. The move deepens concerns of elected civic heads being reduced to figureheads. "There were cases where mayors were unaware of final work orders despite chairing finance committees," said the northern Haryana mayor.

Land in 2k villages within 15 days: CM Nayab Saini in outreach to Kumhars; assures aid under Rural Industrial Scheme
Chandigarh: Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday announced land allocation for Prajapati community in 2,000 villages of the state within 15 days, marking another move by the BJP govt to woo the state's backward classes (A) community. Saini's announcement came during an event to mark the birth anniversary of Maharaja Daksha Prajapati in Bhiwani. The Prajapati community is linked to the Kumhars, who are traditionally associated with pottery and clay work. They make up for 2.7% of the state's population, according to a 2019 estimate. During the day, the CM also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 19 projects worth Rs 234.38 crore. This included the inauguration of six projects worth Rs 87.42 crore and the foundation stone of 13 projects worth Rs 147 crore. Saini announced that in the next 15 days, land will be allocated to the Prajapati community in 2,000 villages of the state where panchayat land is available, ensuring the community has access to soil for making earthen pots. Beneficiaries will receive detailed information, including khasra numbers, about the land, he said. The CM also distributed land rights letters to Prajapati community members in Bhiwani. Apart from this, an interest subsidy of 7% per annum on term loans, with a maximum benefit of Rs 8 lakh annually, for a duration of 7 years would also be provided. Saini said the art of crafting clay utensils was a treasured heritage. "Pottery making is not just an art; it symbolizes the artistic vision, skill, and expertise of the Prajapati community," he said. The CM announced Rs 1.29 crore for various works in the Prajapati community dharamshalas across the state.

Tension in Harda as police clash with Karni Sena protesters
Bhopal: Tension gripped Harda district on Sunday after police resorted to lathi-charge, water cannons, and tear gas to disperse Karni Sena Parivar volunteers protesting over the arrest of their leaders. Over 60 members, including national president Jeevan Singh Sherpur, were arrested, prompting authorities to impose prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Considering the situation, police force from nearby districts was also called in. On Sunday morning, volunteers of the organisation blocked a road and staged protests. Police initially tried to disperse the crowd with persuasion. When protesters refused to budge, tear gas shells were fired, and water cannons were used. Police then resorted to baton charge to clear the area. "The situation is under control now. More than 60 people were arrested, and prohibitory orders under Section 163 of BNS were issued," SP Harda Abhinav Chouksey told TOI. He added, "Mild force had to be used to disperse the crowd. The protestors who came from nearby districts were also sent back. Security has been beefed up. Police force from nearby districts were also called upon." Sources said that an office bearer of Karni Sena Parivar, named Ashish Singh Rajput, made a complaint with police earlier that he was defrauded of Rs 18 lakh by accused Mohit Verma and two others. On Saturday, police arrested Mohit Verma and were taking him to court when the volunteers of Karni Sena Parivar allegedly intercepted police and demanded to hand over the accused to them. "They were carrying sticks and seeking custody of the accused," Chouksey said. Sources said that when the situation escalated on Saturday, police arrested Karni Sena district president Sunil Rajput, Ashish Rajput, and two others. Sunday's protest was in response to those arrests, added sources.
