Minister stresses tech-driven farming
Speaking at Zilla Parishad general body meeting in Kurnool on Saturday, chaired by ZP Chairman Errabothula Papireddy, the Minister urged officials to expedite the formation of farmer groups to meet the target of deploying 35 drones, with only 17 sanctioned so far. He instructed mandal-level agricultural officers to educate farmers on drone spraying to boost productivity and efficiency.
The meeting addressed several key issues, including NTR health scheme. Responding to the complaints from Adoni MLA Parthasarathi about network hospitals charging patients, Bharath ordered the health department to establish a vigilance committee to ensure proper implementation. He also directed the District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) to investigate high oxygen procurement costs in government hospitals and recommended adopting Comprehensive Maintenance Contracts (CMC) over Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMC) for critical equipment like ICU setups.
On sanitation and education, the Minister emphasised the need for a centralised, high-quality supply of bleaching powder State-wide to maintain hygiene standards. He instructed the District Education Officers (DEOs) of Kurnool and Nandyal to inspect school buildings over 20 years old and implement safety measures. Additionally, he sought details from irrigation officials on pending flood risk mitigation proposals along the Handri River, requesting a copy of the submitted plans.
District Collector P Ranjith Basha and Nandyal Collector G Rajakumari addressed local concerns, including counterfeit seeds in C Belagal mandal, horticulture crop expansion, cotton seed subsidies due to high rainfall, and health infrastructure upgrades in Adoni. The Collector announced that the Mega DSC exams would conclude by July 2, with results expected by July 15, facilitating teacher recruitment. He noted that the district's 10th-grade pass rate improved to 88.88% with virtual classrooms. Proposals for new KGBVs, BC hostels, and model schools have been submitted to the Central government.

25,640 houses completed under PMAY in Nellore district
Nearly 89,577 houses have been sanctioned to the people in SPSR Nellore district under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) and 25,640 houses have been completed so far, said Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy during the second DISHA (District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee) meeting, at Nellore Zilla Parishad office, on Tuesday. Mr. Prabhakar Reddy addressed the meeting as the DISHA Committee Chairman. Along with him, Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister (MA&UD) Ponguru Narayana, District Collector O. He said that there are nine mega industrial projects and 33 large industries in the district, which provide employment to about 19,000 people. 'If there are any problems in the implementation of the schemes, we will immediately bring them to the attention of the Central government and steps will be taken to resolve the issues. The coalition government will provide the best support for the development of the district,' Mr. Prabhakar Reddy said. 'Of the total 31,231 soil tests, 29,714 samples have been collected so far. Drip irrigation sprinklers have been provided to over 5,700 farmers through the Andhra Pradesh Micro Irrigation Project. 24 projects have been undertaken under the Rural Infrastructure Fund at a cost of ₹30 crore. Infrastructure has been provided to 2,934 anganwadi centers in the district,' he added.

Kurnool: YSR Congress Party's district-level meeting focused on exposing the alliance government's failures and launching the 'Recall Chandrababu Manifesto', accessible via a QR code, to highlight unfulfilled promises. The meeting, held at Lakshmi Kalyana Mandapam in Kurnool on Sunday, was presided over by district president SV Mohan Reddy. Key leaders, including Regional Coordinator Peddi Reddy Ramachandra Reddy and District Observer Gangula Prathap Reddy, attended. Peddi Reddy and Gangula Prathap Reddy criticised the TDP-JSP alliance for making deceptive pre-election promises, distributing fake bond papers worth Rs 2.4 lakh per household, and failing to deliver on their 'Super Six' guarantees. They accused Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan of responding aggressively to questions about these promises. SV Mohan Reddy questioned the alliance's credibility, noting that pro-TDP media spread false claims about new industries, while none were established. Former MP Butta Renuka highlighted public regret over the coalition's betrayal, with growing discontent within a year of its tenure. MLC Madhusudan, Zilla Parishad Chairperson Errabothula Papi Reddy, and several MLAs and former MLAs raised concerns about rising essential commodity prices, increased land registration charges, and deteriorating law and order. The party resolved to conduct constituency-level outreach programmes to inform every household about the alliance's failures and restore public trust, emphasising their commitment to addressing these issues.

Tamil Nadu approves rates for land acquisition in Parandur
CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu government has approved land acquisition rates for the second Chennai airport proposed at Parandur in Kancheepuram district. The rates have been fixed from Rs 35 lakh to Rs 2.57 crore per acre based on the Guideline Value (GLV), sale value and private negotiations held at the district- and state-levels to arrive at a 'fair' price. A Government Order was issued by V Arun Roy, secretary of the Industries, Investment Promotion and Commerce Department, on June 25. However, residents protesting against the project — since July 2022 — alleged that the state government, in its G.O., has 'misleadingly' shown the GLV and sale value to be the same in a majority of cases in order to 'deceive people'. Women getting pensions under four schemes can avail KMUT The G.O. stated that eligible female family members of women receiving monthly pensions under four other schemes — the Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme, Destitute Widow Pension Scheme, Destitute/Deserted Wives Pension Scheme and the Pension Scheme for Unmarried Poor Incapacitated Women Aged 50 and Above — will also be allowed to apply for the KMUT scheme. 'Only after receiving the applications will we know how many female family members of beneficiaries under the four social security schemes will benefit from these relaxations. The beneficiaries themselves are not eligible to apply for KMUT,' said an official from the revenue department.
