Wilson Phillips singer Carnie Wilson admits her 'sexy' UNCLE from The Beach Boys gave her 'butterflies'

Daily Mail02-05-2025
Singer Carnie Wilson was taking a walk down memory lane, when she admitted something interesting about a member of her family.
The Hold On singer, 57, whose daughter Lola is launching a singing career, admitted to getting 'butterflies' when she was around her late uncle Dennis Wilson who was with The Beach Boys.
'He was always, like, this mysterious, sexy man, and he was my uncle,' she told Smashing Pumpkins lead singer Billy Corgan, 57, on his The Magnificent Others podcast on Wednesday.
'But like, I'd get butterflies around him,' she said of her time with Dennis who died when she was only 15, 'He's very handsome. He was very sensitive. They all three had big, big talent.'
Carnie is the daughter of Beach Boys legend Brian Wilson, 82, and Dennis, like her father, struggled with drug and alcohol abuse.
He was reported to have been drinking heavily before he jumped from a boat into the cold ocean waters in Marina Del Rey, CA and drowned on December 28, 1983 at age 39, leaving behind a young widow and one-year-old son, Gage, now 42.
The singer was also dad to Jennifer Wilson, 58, Michael Wilson, 54, Carl Wilson, 52, and Scott Wilson from previous marriages and relationships.
The Beach Boys were formed in 1961 and quickly reached fame with their song Surfin' USA.
Their struggles were reported in the 2024 documentary The Beach Boys.
Carnie, who reached her own fame as a singer with sister Wendy Wilson, 55, and childhood friend Chynna Phillips, 57, also praised her uncle Carl, who died from lung cancer in 1998 at age 51.
'Carl was an amazing writer, amazing singer. He really had such a great sound. He was protective,' Carnie said of the Good Vibrations artist.
'Dad just wasn't… We just weren't spending time with him,' she said of Brian, who was very reclusive due to mental health issues and is currently under a conservatorship due to major neurocognitive disorder (such as dementia,) according to court record.
'But then he said to us, "I follow you on the charts every week," so he was watching [from] behind his door. But Carl was like, "You guys just have to keep going."'
Speaking of her late uncle Dennis, Carnie said, 'He was always, like, this mysterious, sexy man, and he was my uncle, but like, I'd get butterflies around him'; Pictured circa 1964

'I miss him very much,' the still grieving niece said of the God Only Knows singer.
'I think about him all the time, and I have pictures around my house and I feel his spirit a lot. And my dad really misses his brothers, like a lot,' she admitted.
Carl provided some backup vocals for Wilson Phillips on their holiday hit Hey Santa. Wilson Phillips are still making music together and will be performing at various venues over the summer.

Justin Bieber Releases New Album, 'Swag,' With Surprise Drop

Justin Bieber shocked fans by dropping a surprise album, his first in more than four years, after days of posting photos of himself in the studio. The 31-year-old singer released his seventh studio album, titled'Swag,' on Friday, July 10. The LP was made available on streaming platforms at midnight. Bieber's last album, 'Justice,' which included his hits 'Holy,' 'Lonely,' 'Hold On' and 'Peaches,' dropped in March 2021. In 2023, he was featured on the acoustic version SZA's single 'Snooze' and Don Toliver's 'Private Landing,' which also featured Future. The Grammy winner had teased his new album July 9, sharing photos of his album cover on billboards around the world. Prior to the official drop, he shared what appeared to be the album cover, which included him holding his almost-1-year-old son, Jack, whom he shares with wife Hailey Bieber. In another post, which appeared to be in New York's Times Square, Bieber shared the record's 21-song track list. He also shared a photo of the track list on a billboard near State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. On July 7, Bieber shared a handful of photos of himself in the studio. Jack was also included in the jam session. In one pic, the toddler stands by a wooden table, dressed in striped overalls as some musicians strum on guitars. Over the years, Bieber has taken breaks from music to focus on his mental health. In 2019, he shared on social media that he was stepping back from his work to deal with some private issues 'so that I don't fall apart.' 'I read a lot of messages saying you want an album. I've toured my whole teenage life, and early 20s,' he began. 'I realized and as you guys probably saw I was unhappy last tour and I don't deserve that and you don't deserve that, you pay money to come and have a lively energetic fun light concert and I was unable emotionally to give you that near the end of the tour.' After releasing 'Justice,' he canceled the rest of the North American leg of his tour in June 2022 after sharing that he was suffering from Ramsay Hunt syndrome, a rare disorder caused by a virus that affects the facial nerve and can lead to paralysis. The pop star continued touring shortly after, performing six shows in Europe and one in Brazil. However, he then announced he would be taking a break from touring.

'Bewitching' LA singer-songwriter to perform live in Glasgow

Jessica Pratt will play at Saint Luke's on Monday, July 14. The musician, who is known for her 'bewitching' acoustic guitar and vocals, will present her new album, Here in the Pitch, to Scottish fans. This is her fourth album, which was released after a five-year hiatus. From the opening seconds of "Life Is", the album promises to be a unique musical experience. The album begins with a percussion roll, a departure from the usual blend of her vocals and guitar. Ms Pratt said: "In a way, it's kind of a false flag. "But I also feel like it's a statement of intention." READ MORE: 'I hear I got a mention': John Swinney responds to Kneecap Her team for this project included multi-instrumentalist and engineer Al Carlson, keyboardist Matt McDermott, bassist Spencer Zahn, and percussionist Mauro Refosco. Discussing her new venture, Ms Pratt said: "Having done a studio record prior, I learned how to get to the things you want and how to communicate it to people. "The process this time was less about exploration of a new tool and more about taking what I learned and going further." She introduces a diverse range of instruments, including timpani and glockenspiel, baritone saxophone and flute. This is complemented by layered vocal arrangements that deliver an uplifting mood, even in the face of melancholic lyrics. Her inspiration for the album came from the Beach Boys' Pet Sounds, but she was particularly drawn to the "atmospheric silence" in those recordings. Describing her fascination, she explained: "There are times when you feel like you're just hearing the studio for a moment. "Those were always so intriguing for me as a young person, feeling like you could reach out and touch the texture of the sound in the air." Tickets for her Glasgow show are available online. Ms Pratt confessed: "I spend a lot of time worrying and imagining bad things happening. "So maybe the idea of creatively inhabiting a character who wields the power is interesting." The final track The Last Year is reminiscent of classic compositions from the Great American Songbook. The "pitch" in Here in the Pitch refers to both "pitch darkness" and bitumen, a black viscous substance found deep in the earth. Despite the dark undertones, Ms Pratt's optimism shines through in her performance. She explained the album's long creation process: "I never wanted it to take this long. "I'm just a real perfectionist. "I was just trying to get the right feeling, and it takes a long time to do that."

Carnie Wilson seen for first time since death of dad Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys fame as she hugs her husband

Carnie Wilson put on a brave face as she was seen for the first time since the death of her father Brian Wilson at age 82. The Beach Boys band member passed away in mid June. The 57-year-old singer — who followed in her music icon dad's footsteps — stopped by a car dealership on Sunday. She was joined by her longtime husband, fellow singer Rob Bonfiglio, during the outing. At one point the couple warmly wrapped their arms around each other. Wilson, who shares daughters Luciana, 16, and Lola, 20, with Bonfiglio, wore cropped white cargo pants and a blue blouse. Beach Boys founder Brian, one of the most acclaimed and influential songwriters of the 20th century, died on June 11. The God Only Knows hitmaker rose to prominence as the frontman of the Beach Boys in the 60s. Last year, weeks after the death of his longtime wife Melinda, it was revealed that he had been diagnosed with a neurocognitive disorder similar to dementia. His seven children announced his death on his official Instagram page, alongside a recent photo. 'We are heartbroken to announce that our beloved father Brian Wilson has passed away. We are at a loss for words right now,' they wrote. The mourning brood added, 'Please respect our privacy at this time as our family is grieving. We realize that we are sharing our grief with the world. Love & Mercy.' One day later Carnie wrote on Instagram: 'I have no words to express the sadness I feel right now. My Father was every fiber of my body. 'He will be remembered by millions and millions until the world ends. I am lucky to have been his daughter and had a soul connection with him that will live on always.' The Wilson Phillips singer added, 'I've never felt this kind of pain before, but I know he's resting up there in heaven... or maybe playing the piano for Grandma Audree his Mom.' She concluded, 'I will post something else soon but this is all my hands will let me type. I love you Daddy....I miss so much you already.' On July 3 Carnie performed with her family at The Tribe's All-Star Tribute to the Beach Boys in Agoura Hills, California, calling it 'a total joy.' Wilson and her husband celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in late June, days after her devastating loss. She wrote online, '25 years my love... I knew you were the one when I saw your smile. You gave me the sweetest gift I've ever known... our girls. I love you baby @rob_bonfiglio now and forever! Happy Anniversary!' Rob shared a tribute of his own, writing on Instagram, '25 years, two beautiful children and a lifetime of adventures to go! I love you now and always!'
