‘Awards Magnet': New Emmy predictions — including those cutthroat lead categories
With the number of slots per category now set, it's time to make some tough decisions. Or maybe not-so tough? All the lead acting categories will have five slots this year, barring a tie. That sucks for the Emmy hopefuls, but some of these categories have a pretty firm top four — or even five — contenders, which makes chopping a sixth person slightly less difficult. But with fewer slots for voters to fill in, will that inspire more passion picks? Like for, say, underdog Bridget Everett, who's on her last shot to be nominated for Somebody Somewhere? She's in 10th place in the Best Comedy Actress odds. Two years ago, Jason Segel (Shrinking) surprisingly made the Best Comedy Actor lineup in a field of five over Steve Martin (Only Murders in the Building). Will history repeat?

Two actings acting categories that gained a lot are the comedy supporting ones, which went from six to seven. That's good news for the solid top seven in the supporting actress race: Hannah Einbinder (Hacks), Liza Colón-Zayas (The Bear), Catherine O'Hara (The Studio), Sheryl Lee Ralph (Abbott Elementary), Jessica Williams (Shrinking), Janelle James (Abbott Elementary), and Kathryn Hahn (The Studio). But don't count out Megan Stalter, who had a strong season on Hacks and could coattail off being in the reigning Best Comedy Series winner.

Dreyer made a point to say the couple 'will continue to co-parent our three wonderful boys together with nothing but love and respect for one another.' 'Thank you as always for your support,' she said, before signing off. Dreyer's message had nearly 90,000 likes by Monday, though the comments on Instagram were turned off. Dreyer has routinely shared insight into her marriage with Fichera, who works as a cameraman and operator for NBC. In a interview in 2023, the meteorologist said that the two bond over golf, and try to talk through the challenges of parenting three small children. 'It's a lot of kid time. It's like, 'Brian, I need to take Oliver to the doctor. I need you to take Calvin to karate. I'll see you at dinner!'' Dreyer said at the time. 'I don't want to say it's had any negative impact on our relationship — we've only gotten stronger.' She also revealed in 2022 that the two mostly communicate through text due to their busy schedules. 'Our schedules mean we don't see each other much, but we text all the time,' Dreyer said, explaining that 'it's even easier to have an important or deep conversation via text because we get all our thoughts out without being interrupted.' 'We don't find it impersonal. In fact, just the opposite,' she said. 'We know each other well enough to understand each other's tone so a lot gets accomplished through texting!'

Hathaway, Streep and Blunt aren't the only stars reprising their roles in the sequel. Stanley Tucci, who played Priestly's stylish left-hand man in the original film, Tracie Thoms, who portrayed the best friend of Hathaway's character, and Tibor Feldman, the chairman of Runway's parent company, will also return. New additions to the cast, according to Variety, include Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, B.J. Novak, Pauline Chalamet and Kenneth Branagh, who will portray the husband of Streep's character. Fashion, unsurprisingly, is at the forefront of the original beloved film. As Andy grows more comfortable in her new position, so does her inclination to express herself sartorially. We soon see her swapping cerulean blue sweaters for head-to-toe Chanel. Fans of the original can expect standout, high-end style to play just as significant a role in the sequel. Production of The Devil Wears Prada 2 appears to be well underway, but Hathaway initially had low expectations of it ever coming to fruition. 'Probably not,' she told V Magazine in 2024. 'We all love each other, and if somebody could come up with a way to do it, I think we'd all be crazy not to. But there's a huge difference in the world now with technology, and one of the things about that particular story is it was about producing a physical object.
