Who is Derek Dixon, ‘The Oval' actor who accused Tyler Perry of sexual harassment?
According to the lawsuit, Perry abused his power to sexually exploit him. Dixon, who worked in multiple episodes of 'The Oval' has sought $260 million in damages.
But who exactly is Derek Dixon?
Born Derek Alexander Dixon in Raleigh, North Carolina, he studied at Marymount Manhattan College and acted at The Terry Schreiber Studio in New York.
Derek Dixon is best known for his role as Dale on The Oval and Ruthless.
He is also the co-winner of the 2016 Essential Theatre Playwriting Award. He's performed in plays including: The Lion in Winter, Romeo and Juliet, and The Boys In The Band and has written several full-length plays, including: Homewrecker, Red Snow, Pictures of People, Work of Art, and Green Light. In 2015, he joined Working Title Playwrights.
Dixon was working with an events company when he met Tyler Perry at a party in 2019 and was offered a role on 'The Restless'.
Soon after, he also landed a role on 'The Oval', playing the character of Dale for more than 100 episodes before eventually quitting the show.
According to Dixon's lawsuit, Tyler Perry subjected him "to escalating sexual harassment, assault and battery, and professional retaliation when he did not reciprocate the showbiz mogul's unwanted advances," Dixon claims that this led to him allegedly quitting in Season 6.
Perry's lawyer denied the allegations in a statement shared with USA Today.
"This is an individual who got close to Tyler Perry for what now appears to be nothing more than setting up a scam. But Tyler will not be shaken down, and we are confident these fabricated claims of harassment will fail,' said attorney Matthew Boyd.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui Offers A Glimpse Inside ‘Nawab': His Nostalgic, Self-Designed Dream Home In Mumbai
Nawazuddin Siddiqui's self-designed bungalow 'Nawab' beautifully blends vintage charm with personal memories from his childhood in Budhana. From sharing cramped quarters with multiple roommates in Mumbai's Goregaon during his struggling years to now residing in a palatial bungalow, Nawazuddin Siddiqui's journey has come full circle. Five years ago, the acclaimed actor fulfilled a long-held dream by building his own three-storey mansion in Versova's Yari Road, which he lovingly named 'Nawab' after his late father, Nawabuddin Siddiqui. The luxurious home is more than just bricks and mortar—it's a heartfelt tribute to his childhood home in Budhana, Uttar Pradesh. In a recent video tour shared on Nayandeep Rakshit's YouTube channel, Nawazuddin welcomed viewers into his personal sanctuary, a space that reflects both his artistic soul and deep-rooted nostalgia. Muted Tones, Theatre Posters, and a Splash of Red Kicking off the tour in the living room, the space was a study in restraint, dominated by earthy tones like cream, beige, and warm browns. 'I always envisioned an old-world charm—something that reminded me of colonial-era homes," Nawazuddin said when asked about his design aesthetic. 'People gift me art, but I rarely hang them unless they match the room's palette. I prefer buying pieces that blend with the tone of the house." A bold pop of colour stood out in the form of a vivid red pool table. 'I play occasionally, but it's mostly for my guests," he chuckled. Adorning the walls were posters of iconic theatrical characters—Hamlet, Othello, Romeo—roles Nawazuddin once embodied during his time at the National School of Drama. 'These remind me of my roots. I wanted the house to echo those NSD days. That hunger to learn, to stay grounded. You won't find a single movie poster here," he revealed. Three Floors of Personal Passions The house spans three levels, each tailored to different aspects of Nawazuddin's personal and professional life. The ground floor features a spacious hall and a private mini-theatre with plush brown couches and a large screen. The room opens into a balcony that overlooks a serene green patch. 'I love colourful flowers. That corner was inspired by the Romeo and Juliet balcony. I wanted it to feel like a piece of theatre," he said with a smile. Upstairs, his personal makeup room is designed like a traditional green room—wood-panelled flooring and walls, and a large mirror framed by vanity lights. 'Whenever I have a shoot, I get ready here. It keeps me in the zone," he shared. He also revealed a compact home gym tucked away inside the house. 'I'm not exactly a fitness buff, but I built it anyway," he laughed. In a touching moment, Nawazuddin pointed out a framed certificate—his daughter's acting distinction from a London workshop. 'She's obsessed with acting," he said proudly. Where Memory Meets Mastery True to its inspiration, the bungalow is dotted with vintage architectural features—arched doorways, carved wooden pillars, railings, and patterned flooring that harken back to his village home. The final part of the tour featured a grand staircase, the walls lined with his numerous awards and accolades—a quiet nod to his career journey. However, Nawazuddin was quick to note, 'I don't work for trophies. But I am thankful to have received them." In every detail, from layout to lighting, 'Nawab' is not just a home—it's a narrative. A space that reflects Nawazuddin Siddiqui's artistry, humility, and enduring connection to his roots. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Their love story is shaping up to be one of the show's emotional anchors. Director Song Hae Sung describes Seok Chul as "a contradiction - a pure heart in a ruthless world," while writer Kim Hyo Seok notes, "These characters are messy, flawed, and human. They reflect real people trying to change." Trusted storytellers The Nice Guy brings together a powerhouse creative team. It's also the first TV drama produced by Hive Media Corp, known for critically acclaimed films like Inside Men and 12.12: The Day. The production promises both quality storytelling and cinematic scale, blending gritty crime drama with emotional depth. Fiery cast The drama features a stellar lineup of actors Lee Dong Wook as Park Seok Chul, a man torn between loyalty and love. Lee Sung Kyung as Kang Mi Young, whose courage grows through love. Director Song praised the ensemble, saying, "Casting was everything here. These actors embody their roles perfectly." Writer Kim Hyo Seok echoed this, calling the casting "fated." Romance, revenge, and redemption The love story between Seok Chul and Mi Young is not just about rekindled feelings - it's about healing. Their connection helps them face their pasts and imagine better futures. "They complete each other," says director Song, "He regains innocence through her, and she finds the strength to sing again through him."But with family tensions, rival gangs, and personal betrayals threatening to tear them apart, The Nice Guy promises a rollercoaster of emotions.
