Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson's Action Channel Launches In UK: 'This Is Big – I've Got A Huge Audience Out Here'

Yahoo20-06-2025

EXCLUSIVE: Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson is taking his action channel to kick ass overseas.
Just six months after the 50 Cent Action Channel debuted as a FAST channel in partnership with Lionsgate in the U.S., it has launched as a subscription service in the UK via Prime Video Channels, we can reveal.

In an exclusive interview with Deadline, Jackson said the UK was always likely to be the channel's first overseas home. 'You know, everybody loves London,' he explained. 'If you're from New York, or you're a recording artist from America in general, the first stop and your first dose of international love is London.'
The UK might start to feel like a second home for rapper, actor and producer Jackson this year, with three June tour dates plus last week's announcement of Fightland, a Starz series set in the east London boxing world that he is exec producing. Fightland goes into production this year.
The news marks the first international expansion for Jackson's FAST network. As opposed to the FAST distribution in the U.S., the UK network is being offered as a Prime Video add-on for £3.99 ($5.43) a month following a seven-day free trial. It launched just before Jackson headlined the Parklife Concert Festival in Manchester, UK, on Saturday (June 14), and QR codes linking to the free trial offer were distributed at the concert.
Jackson and Lionsgate also see an opportunity to tap into the rapper's original UK fanbase, many of whom are now into middle-age after buying his first albums in the early 2000s. 'My audience, my core audience – the people that were enjoying my music in the very beginning – is at home,' he said. 'They're older. They'll understand the entertainment choices that I make creatively. I've used music to merge with entertainment.'
Lionsgate library and originals plans
50 Cent Action includes the 'In Da Club' rapper's favorite films and television series, action films such as Kill Bill: Volume 1 & 2, The Expendables, Righteous Kill, Nightcrawler and Mechanic: Resurrection, and many other films and television series drawn from Lionsgate's library comprising up to 1,000 hours of content.
Jackson and Lionsgate have a long-standing relationship with the latter owning Power network Starz until last year and continuing to sell the crime drama series internationally. 'It's been a cool partnership because they've been able to completely engage and get involved and they really enjoyed the concept, too,' said Jackson.
He told Deadline the more 50 Cent Action expands, the more likely it is we'll see original programs on the channel. 'There's an opportunity for me to launch originals that wouldn't even pitch out to the other networks,' he added. 'Creatively, I'll make it and put it onto the platform. You know you'll be ahead of the curve just following the culture.'
In the U.S., where Jackson and Lionsgate first partnered, 50 Cent Action has become the top action channel on The Roku Channel and LG Channels, as we revealed in April. It's also available on Prime Video, Plex, DirecTV, Vizio and Xumo.
While it will be an SVoD proposition in the UK, 50 Cent Action is considered one of the first talent-led FAST networks, using the power – pun intended – of 50 Cent's personality to drive fan engagement editorially and through direct social media. Jackson said this connection was crucial to the success.
'I don't think that they've figured out how to market the FAST channels,' said Jackson, noting that many simply repeat one popular show, limiting the scope and ambition. 'They just package portions of their content, put it up and let it roll, instead of trying to figure out a whole brand, a whole vibe. I want my FAST channel to feel like a cable network.'
Jackson admitted that being able to 'reach 110 million people through my phone' at any time does give him a unique advantage, as he outlined how he keeps his followers in the loop. 'It's on my mind all the time,' he said. 'I end up talking about it or I hashtag the actual '50 Cent Action', or the concept of a show, and then it works. It results in being number one on Roku and LG platforms.'
'Being able to launch out here [in the UK] is big because I have a huge audience here that hasn't been able to participate with us. Now they get a chance to see it.'
'Staying tapped in'
Social media has been a huge part of 50 Cent's public persona, with his cheeky digs at long-term rival Sean 'Diddy' Combs' very public legal troubles and other public issues keeping fans engaged. Jackson said 'staying tapped in' to his audience's experience has been vital, adding that this is part of the reason why he's recently been commenting socially on the very public beef between President Donald Trump and Elon Musk.
'It's [about] going into other relatable things that [the audience sees], because they're subject to it too,' he said. 'I've said stuff about Elon and Trump not getting along. You can't miss it. I don't have political aspirations, but you still see and still understand that there's something else that's going on there.'
50 Cent has sold more than 30 million albums around the world, while his Power drama series universe at Starz has been expanding as fast as Ghost's criminal empire, with Deadline revealing last week that two new spin-offs are in the works. The latest, which is currently untitled, comes from Gary Lennon (Power Book IV: Force) and Kendra Chapman (Power Book IV: Force), with Lennon also serving as showrunner. A writers room for the project, also known as Power: Legacy, will open soon.
There were rumors one of the Power spin-offs could be set in the UK's capital, but Jackson has just had Fightland – a boxing drama series set in London – greenlit at Starz, which spun out of Lionsgate last year. Jackson is exec-producing through G-Unit Film & Television. The plot will follow a disgraced, formerly incarcerated boxing champion who returns to London to seek vengeance against the crime family he thinks betrayed him.
Jackson has also pushed into true crime through the likes of Peacock's The Gilgo Beach Killer: House of Secrets, which launched last week, and an upcoming Netflix doc about Combs that will address the recent charges facing the music mogul, including sex trafficking and racketeering, along with multiple allegations of sexual assault and violent abusive behavior.
Expect more on that front, with Jackson planning to expand the number of projects he exec-produces. He noted how he had learned to produce and create in different genres and mediums to keep himself fresh.
'It's amazing, because I met the audience as '50 Cent,' the entertainer, the rapper,' he said. 'Then when they see you consistently have success on a whole other genre, they go, 'wow,' because it's not like everybody's pivoting well. A lot of people stay in that same space. They're just known for that one thing that they've done great, and it's just that, the whole way. But I can't escape my passion for film and television, it just came through music first.'
Jackson is repped by IAG, attorney Steve Savva and AKR Public Relations.

7 top new movies to stream this week on Netflix, Prime Video, HBO Max and more (July 1-7)

It's set to be an exciting week for new movies across the best streaming services and premium platforms. Netflix, Prime Video and HBO Max are offering new additions for subscribers, and several noteworthy flicks are trading the big screen for home viewing. I expect 'The Old Guard 2," premiering on Netflix on Wednesday (July 2), will be the big winner of the week. The superhero sequel has been a long time coming after a five-year gap since the original arrived back in 2020. However, I'm most hyped about the PVOD premiere of 'Ballerina,' the heart-pounding 'John Wick' spin-off, and 'Bring Her Back,' the acclaimed indie horror flick. Whatever your personal tastes, there's sure to be at least one movie that appeals down below. So, if you're looking to watch something fresh this week, here are all the new movies you can enjoy across streaming services. And don't forget to see our companion guide to the best new TV shows you'll want to binge-watch this week. The 'John Wick' franchise's latest attempts at expansion, following 2023's pretty lackluster Peacock series 'The Continental,' is a spinoff film starring Ana de Armas as a seriously lethal ballerina/assassin who is trained under the watch of Anjelica Huston's Director (who was introduced in 'John Wick 3'). Despite a reportedly tricky production cycle, the final result is an action-thriller more than worthy of the 'Wick' name. Action fans will love this thrill ride. I'd go as far as to say 'Ballerina' contains some of the franchise's best ever action sequences, with one involving an ultra-powerful flamethrower a personal highlight. Armas also proved to be a suitable candidate for leading a high-octane action romp, even if her character's backstory feels pretty routine. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. Those who feel that anything Wick-related isn't the same without the inclusion of Keanu Reeves will also be pleased to know that Mr. Wick is involved more than you might expect, considering 'Ballerina' is technically a spin-off. Buy or rent on Amazon from July 1 2022's 'Talk to Me' wasn't just one of my favorite movies of that year; it ranks as one of my favorite horror flicks of the 2020s. It's the most a chiller has spooked me since 'Hereditary,' and considering how much I adore Ari Aster's horror masterpiece, that's a high compliment. The Australian directing duo, Danny and Michael Philippou, follow-up effort to "Talk to Me" is 'Bring Her Back," and it's heading to premium streaming this week. I cannot wait to dive into this very scary-looking movie. The "Bring Her Back" has been well received by critics, scoring 89% on Rotten Tomatoes, and stars Sally Hawkins, Billy Barratt and Sora Wong. The logline reads, 'A brother and sister uncover a terrifying ritual at the secluded home of their new foster mother,' and such a brief summary has me even more excited to watch. In my experience, whenever an indie horror movie plot seems simple on the surface, there's usually some very terrifying layers to be unwrapped. Buy or rent on Amazon from July 1 Being talked about in some fan circles as the Marvel Cinematic Universe's return to form, 'Thunderbolts' might not quite be vintage Marvel, but it's certainly a significant step up compared to some of the connected franchise's recent lackluster efforts, at least, in the opinion of this lapsed MCU fan Rather than being overstuffed with cameos or increasingly knotty multiverse shenanigans, in 'Thunderbolts," the focus is on a smaller group of compelling misfits and their attempts to prove themselves heroes capable of saving the world. Starring fan-favorite Marvel characters including Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Bucky 'Winter Solider' Barnes (Sebastian Stan), Red Guardian (David Harbour) and Dollar Store Captain America, John Walker (Wyatt Russell), the 'Thunderbolts' are a motley crew of oddballs, who prove to have pretty great chemistry. But the real show stealer is Lewis Pullman as Bob, a mysterious individual with a surprisingly impactful (and pretty dark for the MCU) arc. Buy or rent on Amazon from July 1 Prime Video's big summer original movie is an action-comedy that brings together John Cena and Idris Elba as the President of the United States and the British Prime Minister, respectively. But the so-called 'special relationship' has gone sour in this case, with the duo embroiled in a very public rivalry. However, when Air Force One is shot down, they're forced to band together, put aside their differences, and kick some butt to save the free world. Frankly, this looks like a shlocky blockbuster that isn't going to turn around Prime Video's reputation of churning out underwhelming original efforts, but at least it's got plenty of star power, and the supporting cast includes Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Jack Quaid, Carla Gugino and Paddy Considine. This probably wouldn't be a big-budget action effort worth a trip to your local movie theatre, but as a streaming exclusive, it might serve up some passable entertainment. Watch on Prime Video from July 2 'The Old Guard' dropped on Netflix at a time when many of us were quarantined in our homes, and craving pure cinematic escapism, and despite its faults, the Charlize Theron-fronted superhero movie delivered exactly that. The sequel has been a long time coming, but five years later, it's ready to make its arrival on Netflix this Wednesday. The movie returns to the world of immortal warriors, and those battling to protect humanity from the shadow. Andy (Theron) is the team's leader and is still adjusting to losing her immortality, and if getting her head around morality wasn't enough, she's also got to contend with the return of a dangerous figure previously thought to be lost to time. Uma Thurman and Henry Golding are joining the crew this time, and I expect this sequel to very quickly claim the No. 1 spot in Netflix's top 10 ranking. Watch on Netflix from July 2 If you thought 2018's 'Batman Ninja' sold itself on its ludicrously compelling name alone, its sequel, 'Batman Ninja vs. Yakuza League,' looks to be going for the same strategy. Offering slick anime-style animation and a plot that sounds completely bonkers, but in the best possible way, this Bat-flick might be the perfect way to keep yourself occupied until 'The Batman 2' finally hits theatres. Seriously, Matt Reeves, we're getting desperate here. The direct sequel to the original 'Batman Ninja,' this sequel sees Bruce Wayne return from the past to discover the world he left behind has changed. Gotham City is under attack from a group of Yakuza members that resemble the Justice League, and so Bats must assemble his allies, including Red Hood, Red Robin and regular Robin, to fight back against this powerful new threat. While 'Batman Ninja' isn't one for superhero fans wanting a more grounded take on the Dark Knight, it's great fun for those craving a more fantastical tone. Watch on HBO Max from July 3 'Sinners' was a breakout hit in theatres in April, and a best seller when it arrived on PVOD streaming last month, so it's a pretty safe assumption to say its HBO Max debut will be another feather in the cap of a rare original movie that has captured the interest of moviegoers across the global. The action-horror solidifies Ryan Coogler as one of Hollywood's most high-profile directors, and if you somehow missed the boat up to this point, now is the time to correct that mistake. 'Sinners' is worthy of all the hype. Set in the 1930s, 'Sinners' follows twin brothers (both played by Michael B. Jordan) who return to their Mississippi hometown to open a juke joint in an old sawmill. Opening night is a swinging success, that is, until a group of vampires arrive on the scene. This horror-thriller is a wild ride bursting with cinematic flair, incredible performances from the entire cast (Jordan especially), and one of the best musical scores of the 21st century. It's a real must-watch. Watch on HBO Max from July 4

Photo by Jim Ruymen/UPI | License Photo June 30 (UPI) -- Lionsgate announced Monday that From the World of John Wick: Ballerina will be available on premium video-on-demand Tuesday. Additional streaming and DVD, Blu-ray and 4K UHD dates have yet to be announced. Ballerina stars Ana de Armas as Eve Macarro, a student at the Ruska Roma ballet and assassin school. She meets John Wick (Keanu Reeves) when he visits the school during John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum and fights him later in the film. When Eve visits the Continental hotel, she also sees Winston (Ian McShane) and Charon (Lance Reddick) from the John Wick films. Angelica Huston reprises her role as the Ruska Roma Director from John Wick 3. The film opened June 6 in theaters. UPI praised the film's inventive action sequences in its review. The film's cast, including de Armas, McShane, Norman Reedus and Catalina Sandina Moreno also discussed adapting to John Wick style action and the Continental mythology. Director Len Wiseman also emphasized Eve's choice to become an assassin as a contrast to John's attempts to leave the world behind. The home video edition includes a bonus feature showing how Eve wields a pair of ice skates like nunchucks. 'Ballerina' streaming date revealed — here's when you can watch the hit 'John Wick' spin-off at home

"From the World of John Wick: Ballerina," or simply "Ballerina," was one of our most anticipated summer movies when it landed in theaters on June 6. The next high-octane chapter in the "John Wick" franchise has been a hit with critics and audiences alike, and it's had a solid performance at the box office to boot. In our "Ballerina" review, streaming writer Martin Shore called it "a successful spinoff with thrills to spare." It's absolutely worth catching in theaters (and yes, it's still playing!), but I understand if fitting a movie night in your budget isn't everyone's priority these days. If you want to know when you can stream "Ballerina" from the comfort of your own couch, look no further. Here's everything you need to know about when "Ballerina" is coming to streaming. "From the World of John Wick: Ballerina" will be available to buy or rent on premium video-on-demand (PVOD) services on Tuesday, July 1. You'll be able to buy or rent it from Amazon, Apple or your preferred digital storefront. Its purchase price will be $24.99, and since PVOD rentals tend to list for $5 less than purchase prices, "Ballerina" should be available to rent for 48 hours for $19.99. While the date of a streaming release still hasn't been revealed, "Ballerina" will premiere exclusively on Starz at some point in the future. If history serves, we expect "Ballerina" to arrive on Starz around November. Past releases have taken anywhere between 69 to 180 days to release on streaming after their box office debut. With these averages, a streaming release sometime in mid-November seems likely. Though "Ballerina" swaps out Keanu Reeves' iconic character for a new protagonist, the story beats will be familiar to fans of the series. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. Set between the events of "Parabellum" and "John Wick: Chapter 4," "Ballerina" follows Eve Macarro (Ana de Armas), a deadly ballerina-assassin trained by the Ruska Roma under the guidance of The Director (Anjelica Huston) after Winston (Ian McShane) introduced her to the group. Years after her father's death at the hands of The Chancellor (Gabriel Byrne) and his elite team of killers, identifiable by the x-shaped scars on their arms, Eve begins spotting those same marks on criminals she encounters. Driven by vengeance, she sets out to uncover the truth and hunt them down.
