Tom Felton reprises Draco Malfoy character for Harry Potter play
The Surrey-born actor, who starred in all the film adaptations of JK Rowling's fantasy novel until the last movie in 2011, will make a comeback as Harry Potter's school bully on Broadway at the Lyric Theatre in New York later this year.
The production said he was the 'first actor from the films to reprise' their role on stage, and this will be Felton's Broadway debut.
He said: 'Being a part of the Harry Potter films has been one of the greatest honours of my life.

'Joining this production will be a full-circle moment for me, because when I begin performances in Cursed Child this fall, I'll also be the exact age Draco is in the play.
'It's surreal to be stepping back into his shoes – and of course his iconic platinum blond hair – and I am thrilled to be able to see his story through and to share it with the greatest fan community in the world.
'I look forward to joining this incredible company and being a part of the Broadway community.'
Felton, 37, made his West End debut in the supernatural thriller 2:22 – A Ghost Story in 2022.
He will begin his run in Harry Potter And The Cursed Child on November 11 for a limited 19 weeks, the production said on Thursday.
Producers Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender said: 'It's not lost on us that this is a cultural moment charged with nostalgia, evolution, and emotion.
'Tom's return to Hogwarts bridges generations of fans and breathes new life into a beloved story. We're beyond thrilled to welcome Tom back 'home' but also into a new family: our Broadway company.
'We can't wait to see him inhabit this role once again with the same depth, gravity, and humanity he has always brought to Draco.'
The play, written by Adolescence co-creator Jack Thorne, began in 2016 in London and has had a Broadway run since 2018.
It was co-devised by Rowling, and is set 19 years after the events of the seventh and final book, with Ministry of Magic employee Harry and his wife Ginny Weasley waving off their youngest son Albus Severus to school.
The two-part play, which stretches over five hours, sees Albus struggle at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry with the weight of his family legacy and go to extreme and dangerous lengths to right the wrongs of the past.
Since the ending of the film franchise, Felton has been in 2011's Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes and had recurring roles in the TV series Murder In The First, The Flash and Origin.
He has also used his voice in the Harry Potter video games, based on the movie, and featured in the special Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return To Hogwarts alongside Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson, who played Harry, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger.
The seven Harry Potter books are set to be brought to the small screen by HBO, with production beginning at Warner Bros Studios Leavesden in summer 2025.
The young stars have been cast with Dominic McLaughlin as Harry, Arabella Stanton as Hermione, and Alastair Stout as Ron, while the new Draco has not yet been confirmed.
Earlier this year, British actor Paapa Essiedu and US star John Lithgow were confirmed as the cruel Professor Severus Snape and Hogwarts headmaster Professor Albus Dumbledore, respectively.

This Morning's Cat Deeley and Patrick Kielty have announced they are separating after 13 years of marriage, with the couple not seen together in public in over a year. Comedian Patrick Kielty and Cat Deeley have revealed their shocking separation after 13 years of marriage. It has now emerged that the pair appeared to be leading separate lives in the lead-up to their surprising split. The TV stars disclosed on Tuesday, July 29, that they are no longer together in a bombshell statement. However, prior to the announcement, the pair hadn't been photographed together publicly for more than a year. The final photograph of the couple together was captured in 2023, according to reports in the Mirror. They looked content in the picture as they attended the Ballywalter London premiere at The May Fair Hotel on September 18, 2023. At the time, This Morning presenter Cat posted on her social media showing the pair beaming as they prepared for the event and then sat amongst the audience. Patrick was subsequently invited onto the stage. Cat posted on her Instagram: "Magical evening last night at the London Premiere of @BallywalterFilm! . Celebrating the talents of @PatricKielty and @SeanaKerslake, director @PrasannaBanana, and the brilliant cast and crew! "Now, bear in mind at this point, Ryan, he was at the Maghera Inn down the end of the road, and in Ireland, I think it was approximately three o'clock in the morning, so I wasn't too sure! Wynne Evans accuses BBC of 'lies and cover‐ups' - 'Strictly is fundamentally flawed'
Welsh opera singer Wynne Evans has levelled accusations at BBC's Strictly Come Dancing, claiming it to be "fundamentally flawed in its duty of care". The 53-year-old tenor, famed for his appearances in the insurance adverts, took part in the 20th anniversary series of the popular dance show alongside professional dancer Katya Jones. In May, Evans revealed he had been let go by the BBC and would no longer host on BBC Radio Wales after apologising for using "inappropriate language" during the launch of the Strictly tour. His apology followed a report by the Mail On Sunday in January that he had directed a sexual joke at one of the other professional dancers, Janette Manrara. In an Instagram post featuring a photo of the Strictly professionals, Evans wrote: "What it Feels Like to See Pictures of Strictly? I'll be the first to admit I've made mistakes. Not quite the way the Daily Mail would have you believe, but mistakes all the same." Evans accused the BBC of engaging in a series of "lies and cover‐ups in order to absolve themselves of any wrongdoing" and said this was the "hardest part" for him. He continued: "From my dealings right at the very top with (BBC director-general) Tim Davie, through BBC Wales and the HR department, one feeling has been constant: the only thing they truly care about is protecting themselves and their jobs and Ratings – people come second. "When I first stepped into the rehearsal room at Strictly, I thought it would be a magical experience. And at the start, it was. But the very first thing I was told was: 'Don't trust anyone in this room - not even me.'". "That hit me hard. I've always worn my heart on my sleeve, and while I may sometimes sail close to the line, there's never malice in what I do. What I wasn't prepared for was the way people will protect their personal and BBC brands, at any cost." Evans alleged in his statement that the HR department "twisted facts, invented files and dates, and created a version of events that simply wasn't true". "Statements were issued in my name that I hadn't even seen, let alone agreed to. My voice was taken away," he said. Evans had previously stated he never authorised the statement released by the BBC in January where he apologised for making an "inappropriate and unacceptable" comment. At the time, a BBC spokesperson said: "The apology issued on Wynne's behalf by the Strictly Come Dancing Tour PR representative on Saturday January 25 was fully approved by Wynne." Evans also revealed in his Tuesday post: "Tim Davie publicly promised that the BBC would safeguard people who took part in Strictly. I thought about that promise while sitting in a psychiatrist's office near the BBC, staring out of the window at the BBC building, fighting to save my own life. That's how close I came to the edge. "I'm not writing this as a victim, as I said I will own my mistakes. I'm writing it because the system is broken. Strictly is now fundamentally flawed in its duty of care. It's allowed to continue because of ratings, while people's wellbeing is left in tatters." In 2024, the BBC conducted a review into allegations of bullying and harassment against former Strictly dancer Giovanni Pernice, which were made by his ex-dance partner Amanda Abbington. The broadcaster upheld some, but not all, of the complaints made and implemented a range of new measures to enhance welfare. This included having a chaperone present "at all times" during training room rehearsals. Evans has had a varied career, performing in the 25th anniversary of The Phantom Of The Opera and winning Celebrity MasterChef in 2023. In May, he told the Sun that a comment he made on the Strictly Come Dancing tour was not sexual or aimed at one of the female cast members, but was actually a nickname for fellow contestant, EastEnders actor Jamie Borthwick. In June, the opera singer announced his comeback to radio with The Wynne Evans Show, a live weekday internet broadcast. The Mirror has approached the BBC for comment on this story.
