Former Strictly Come Dancing star 'excited' to announce baby news

Daily Record7 days ago

A former Strictly star has announced her excitement at becoming a first-time grandmother.
A Strictly Come Dancing star has shared the delightful news that she is soon to become a grandmother. Annabel Croft, 58, has announced that her daughter Amber, 31, is expecting a baby later this year.
The former professional tennis player, who partnered with Johannes Radebe on Strictly in 2023, revealed that her first grandchild is expected in September. She expressed her joy, stating that the news is "something positive to look forward to".

She said: "I'm really excited to become a grandmother. When you have children yourself, it's such a whirlwind and you spend your life sort of treading water, and you don't enjoy the good bits.

"But now I'm looking forward to just enjoying every second."
Annabel participated in Strictly following the loss of her husband Mel Coleman, who tragically passed away from colon cancer, reports OK!.
Preparing for the arrival of her first grandchild, she conceded that she misses her late husband more than ever.
However, speaking to Hello! magazine, she affirmed that the family will continue to move forward and focus on the future: "When you deal with what we've dealt with as a family, you start to live in the moment, and that's our motto."
Annabel is scheduled to go on tour later this year where she will likely share updates about her experiences as a new grandmother.

In other Strictly news, speculation is rife about who will be participating in the upcoming series of the dance competition. Footballer Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is rumoured to be one of the contestants.
While the BBC has yet to confirm the official line-up, the 53 year old could potentially follow in the footsteps of fellow footballers Alex Scott and Tony Adams.

An insider disclosed: "Jimmy has a huge fanbase from his years playing in the Premier League and is a very likeable character.
"Show producers are always keen to book a retired footballer as it gets footie fans tuning into the series and becoming unlikely fans of the show."
The source further told The Sun: "Jimmy has a competitive edge and is going to get his head in the game."

Viewers won't have to wait too long for the new series, which typically kicks off in September.
Last year's series saw comedian Chris McCausland clinch the trophy with Dianne Buswell.
One of last year's Strictly contestants, Wynne Evans has also received huge congratulations after announcing his engagement to long-term partner Liz Brookes.

The Welsh singer disclosed that he had asked for Liz's hand in marriage during a romantic Moroccan getaway.
Sharing the news on social media, Wynne posted: "Big news... I got engaged!" alongside an image showing the glinting engagement ring and the couple celebrating with champagne.
It comes after Wynne faced a number of scandals during his time on the BBC show, including his infamous 'spit-roast' comment, which contributed to his BBC Wales Radio show being axed.

BBC reignites nepo baby row as it's revealed Noel Gallagher's daughter Anais will host new podcast series ahead of Oasis' reunion tour

BBC has reignited its nepo-baby row by revealing that Noel Gallagher 's daughter Anais will front a new podcast series. Ahead of Oasis much-anticipated reunion tour, Mad For Oasis will tell the stories of their music through the eyes of the superfans. Anais, 25, who is Noel's oldest child with ex Meg Matthews, will explore the band's lasting impact in the series, with the first episode already available on BBC Sounds. Speaking about the new show, Anais said: 'Obviously, Oasis have always been a big part of my life. 'But to have the opportunity to hear these incredible stories from people about how their music has impacted their lives, has been amazing. I'm thrilled to be a part of it.' Chris Burns, Head of Local Audio Commissioning said: 'Whether it's your favourite band reuniting, your football team winning, or losing, our BBC teams live and breathe the rollercoaster of local life with our audiences. 'BBC Radio Manchester really gets to the heart of how this local band made its mark upon ordinary people's lives and is told fantastically through Anais.' In the show, Oasis fans will hear from the Oxford-based artist Paul Fellows, who first saw the band more than 20 years ago, and the experience left a lasting impression. His deep love for Oasis inspired him to create art dedicated to the band - work that has since helped raise funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital. It's a cause close to his heart, as the hospital once cared for his ill son. Paul said: 'Oasis have had a massive influence on my life. If someone came up to me in the field of Knebworth and said in 25 years' time, you're going to meet him on stage and raise money for a great cause, I would never have believed it!'. Karen from New Ross, in Ireland has been a devoted Oasis fan since day one, with the band's music a constant companion through both her teenage years and adult life. In the series, she recalls how one song in particular became the bridge that helped her reconnect with her mother, who had dementia. She said: 'An Oasis song helped me connect with my mother in a way I never thought I'd be able to again. Happy or sad, it will always be a massive part of me'. Brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher will reunite on stage at Cardiff's Principality Stadium on Friday - in their first gig in 15 years. The iconic Britpop band will perform stadium shows across the United Kingdom, Ireland, Japan, South Korea and North, Central and South America, where it will conclude with a show at São Paulo's Estádio do Morumbi on November 23. The BBC have previously come under fire for offering huge gigs to off-spring of famous stars, known as 'nepo-babies.' Roman Kemp was criticised by viewers last year when he interviewed his own parents on The One Show. Fans of the BBC show were in uproar over the segment, which showed the Radio DJ sat on the green sofa chatting to his famous father Martin and mother Shirlie. Viewers accused the show of nepotism and demanded an Ofcom investigation, while others branded it terrible television. And those watching took to X to share their grievances about the segment, writing: 'Tonight on #TheOneShow, nepo kid Roman Kemp interviews his parents Martin & Shirlie at his workplace'. Another said: 'Not Martin & Shirlie Kemp again, hat trick with Roman presenting too'. While others fumed: 'Nepo Baby gets to interview parents. Wow great television; 'All we're missing is Gary and we've got the full set of Kemps. Jesus. This is just wrong. ' While one person quipped: '@BBCTheOneShow What's this tonight, 'Bring Your Parents To Work' Day'. The BBC was also accused of nepotism back in 2023, after casting the real-life son and niece of one of the main stars on its popular prime-time drama Waterloo Road. Parents of young actors shared their fury that Teddy and Scarlett Thomas were given roles as the on-screen children of Adam Thomas, who plays Donte Charles, one of the show's main characters. The Mail on Sunday was contacted by parents of other young actors who went for the roles and they describe the casting as a 'fix'. In an echo of the 'nepo-baby' story that rocked the American celebrity world last year, one said: 'It is a blatant fix. My daughter went for the role and she didn't hear anything back at all. Now we know why. It seems very suspicious that two children from the same very close-knit acting family got two of the important parts.' Adam Thomas, who previously appeared on Emmerdale, admitted in an interview last week that he helped Teddy and Scarlett win their roles, saying: 'If I can help put a foot through the door, then I'm going to do it. 'But at the end of the day they've still got to do the talking and they do that on the show.'

While the discussions about Bob Vylan and Kneecap's inclusion continues, other questions were posed just how much artists get paid to play at Worthy Farm. Sir Rod Stewart, in an interview before the festival, reveals how much he was paid to perform - and how much it cost him to play the legends set this year. The dust is finally settling, the clean-up begins, and bookmakers have already published their favourites ahead of 2027's festival – that indeed was another Glastonbury for another year. As the fallout continues after the controversial sets from both Bob Vylan and Kneecap, leading to questions addressed to the BBC for the broadcasts, for a lot of musicians the idea of performing on the hallowed ground of Worthy Farm is almost priceless. Almost, being the operative word. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Rod Stewart revealed that despite his fee for performing at Glastonbury 2025, he lost money appearing at Worthy Farm. | Getty Images/Canva Questions have been posed ahead of this year's festival regarding the notion some acts are 'paying-to-play' at the festival , stumping up a fee or doing some general festival bar work for the chance to include the festival on their musical CVs. Reports have also suggested that, generally, headline acts such as Neil Young and Olivia Rodrigo this year don't get paid more than £500,000 for their performance. Previously, Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis admitted that he paid £200,000 for both Paul McCartney and Coldplay for their previous headline sets, with the admission that the bands 'could have charged me far more.' For many, it's the notion of playing one of the biggest music festivals in the world, including a legend such as Sir Rod Stewart , who, in an interview with the Radio Times before this year's event, revealed how much he was paid for his 'legends' slot alongside how much it cost him just to perform this year. How much did Rod Stewart get paid to perform at Glastonbury 2025, and how much did it cost him? Sir Rod Stewart revealed in the interview with Radio Times that while Glastonbury paid him approximately £120,000 for his Legends slot performance, it cost him £300,000 to put on the show. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad This significant personal outlay was due to the expenses of bringing his band and equipment over from America, a commitment he described as worth it for the honour of performing in such an esteemed slot. Despite the financial hit, Stewart emphasised that it "doesn't matter," highlighting that the honour of performing in the prestigious Legends slot, a position previously held by artists like Barry Gibb, Diana Ross, and Shania Twain, outweighed the cost. What did Rod Stewart perform during his legends set at Glastonbury 2025? Zara McDermott left in tears as she confronts harrowing stalking cases

Love Island alum Zara McDermott could be seen choking back her tears on her new BBC docuseries as she told a stalking victim she 'did not deserve' to be treated that way Zara McDermott became visibly emotional while exploring the devastating impact of stalking in her new BBC Three documentary series, To Catch A Stalker. At one point in the programme, the former Love Island star can be seen fighting back tears as she hears the traumatic story of a woman whose ex-partner subjected her to relentless stalking and harassment. Over the course of To Catch A Stalker, Zara meets up with victims of stalking and domestic abuse in an effort to shed light on how crimes like this affect the lives of people across the UK. ‌ Zara also does a deep dive into people who have decided to report their experiences to the police, and tracks how their cases move through the legal system. ‌ In the second episode of the show, which will air on Tuesday evening at 9pm on BBC Three, Zara sits down for a chat with an anonymous woman who opens up about how she started to see the sinister side of her ex after breaking up with him. She looked back wistfully on the early days of their romance, saying he was "very charming, caring, I didn't even imagine there was another side to him". But once they got to know each other better, things took a turn for the worse. The stalking victim told Zara he forced her to video call him "24 hours a day, every day, morning until night". After the relationship ended, the stalking escalated further. The woman shared: "The continuous harassment, being outside of my house every other day, he would cry his eyes out and make me feel bad." Zara asked: "Was he calling you and texting you?" The woman then revealed the extreme lengths her ex went to in a bid to get ahold of her, saying: "He would call me more than 500 times a day and I would literally chuck my phone in some corner of my house." ‌ She became emotional as she described how he "made me hate myself for being in that situation" and drew a line across her neck to demonstrate the way he would threaten her with violence from outside her window. She added: "He didn't leave outside of my house for another five, six hours. I was terrified." "That breaks my heart, hearing that," Zara responded. The woman then explained that she had provided video evidence of her ex's behaviour as well as calls and text messages she received from him to the police and would be giving a witness statement in court. Zara gently asked, "How are you feeling through this?" She held the woman's hand as she sadly replied, "Like I'm rubbish." Zara could be seen choking back tears as she told her: "You did not deserve any of that, you know that?" Over the past few years, Zara has developed a reputation for tackling difficult topics in BBC documentaries. She has previously addressed issues such as revenge porn, sexism, rape culture in UK schools, and eating disorders among young people. After she finished filming To Catch A Stalker in March, Zara described it as one of her "most emotional" projects yet. She told fans: "It's our final week of filming for my documentary about stalking, and honestly it's been one of the most eye opening, emotional films I've ever made. I've learnt so much about the strength of victims / survivors through this process… some of these women are the strongest I've ever met."
