We asked for your views on who Aston Villa should buy if goalkeeper Emi Martinez leaves the club this summer.Here are some of your comments:Ian: If Martinez does leave let's make sure we get best price possible and we should look at either Henderson or Ramsdale to replace him. Both I feel are very good young keepers who have Premier League experience and can only improve. The other option is young Trafford from Burnley. We also need a good back-up as well.Richard: I'm surprised that no-one has mentioned Ramsdale as a potential replacement if Martinez goes.Rob: I'd rather Emi Martinez stayed at Villa next season. Goalkeepers with international pedigree and silverware are incredibly difficult to find at reasonable prices. Not to mention his leadership and charisma on and off the pitch! But if we have to let him go, I think Unai Emery should sign the goalkeeper that won him his most recent Europa League: Geronimo Rulli.Emma: If Martinez goes, Chevalier seems a good choice. At the end of the day no one player is bigger than the club.Matt: I'd rather take a 6/10 point deduction than use Martinez's sale to pass PSR. QPR seal signing of Peterborough winger Poku
Queens Park Rangers have confirmed the signing of winger Kwame Poku from Peterborough 23-year-old joins the Loftus Road club after four seasons at winger's Posh contract expired this summer but, due to his age, his former club were entitled to compensation for developing him and the two parties agreed on an undisclosed was linked with a number of clubs before finalising his move and QPR CEO, Christian Nourry, said: "His decision to join the football club in the face of interest from Europe-competing teams abroad and Championship teams with significantly bigger budgets than us is a fantastic validation of the direction we are moving in." Newcastle and Chelsea told price to seal Pedro transfer as two bids rejected
Brighton forward Joao Pedro is attracting interest from both Newcastle and Chelsea but Albion are ready to play hardball during transfer negotiations Brighton are seeking a £60million package to sanction Joao Pedro's exit. In the past week, the Seagulls have rebuffed an offer worth up to £50m from Newcastle for the Brazilian international forward. However, Amex chiefs are also understood to have rejected an undisclosed bid from another unnamed Premier League club for Pedro. Albion, who are notoriously stubborn negotiators, are well aware that Chelsea also have the 23-year-old on their attacking shortlist which could help inflate the player's price. The Blues are believed to have held initial discussions, though it's not clear at this stage whether Chelsea are the mystery team that's lodged a bid and their interest could yet be linked to the future of Christopher Nkunku. Brighton signed Pedro from Watford in a deal worth just shy of £30m in the summer of 2023 and they're determined to double their money. The Hornets also have an undisclosed sell-on clause which is poised to impact Brighton's thinking at the negotiating table. Pedro, who has scored 30 goals in 70 Albion appearances, was banished from Fabian Hurzeler's squad for the final two Premier League matches of the season following an alleged training ground spat with Dutch defender Jan Paul van Hecke. He is a target of long-standing interest to Newcastle as they were keen on a move in August 2022 when talks were advanced over a £30m swoop. Now Eddie Howe's side will have to cough up twice that figure as Pedro's value has sky-rocketed after two seasons on the South Coast. Newcastle have ramped up talks for three key targets as they also continue to pursue moves for Nottingham Forest's Anthony Elanga and Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford. An initial bid worth up to £45m including add-ons was knocked back by Forest for the former Manchester United winger but discussions are continuing between the parties. Meanwhile, Brighton have already brought in extra firepower at the top end of the pitch as they prepare to part company with Pedro. A £29.78m deal for Olympiakos forward Charalampos Kostoulas was completed earlier this month while fellow Greek talent Stefanos Tzimas is also due to arrive at the Amex from FC Nurnberg where he spent the second half of last season on loan. Bayern Munich's interest in Kaoru Mitoma has cooled but Albion are cautious that they may need to tie down the Japanese winger to fresh terms to fight off future bids as he only has two years left to run on his current contract. Saudi Pro League Al-Nassr are still looking for a left-winger after their £54.42m approach for Mitoma was rejected by Brighton in January. Liverpool's Luis Diaz also features prominently on their shortlist.

Manchester United are refusing to overpay for their biggest transfer targets this summer, which has reportedly led to a move for Bournemouth's Antoine Semenyo breaking down Manchester United have reportedly given up in their pursuit of Antoine Semenyo - who was once dubbed a 'younger version' of Mohamed Salah - after refusing to meet Bournemouth 's asking price. Having already wrapped up the £62.5million signing of Matheus Cunha to kickstart their summer transfer activity, United are in the market for a more multi-functional forward. Fitting that description is Semenyo, though the move now appears to have crumbled. The Ghanaian winger's impressive 13 goals and seven assists this season sparked United's interest, with talkSPORT claiming the player held talks with the club over a potential Old Trafford move. But the same performances that caught United's attention have prompted Bournemouth to set the 25-year-old's transfer value at a whopping £70m. That figure is part of a wider trend seen this summer, where Premier League clubs are charging more for their players as the traditional big clubs shift their attention to signing players with experience in England's top flight. The i Paper reports that, in addition to United, Spurs showed the most interest in Semenyo, having stayed in contact with the Cherries after making an initial enquiry last week. But there's an increasing belief he will stay at Bournemouth, with the Red Devils, Spurs and Newcastle all unwilling to meet their hefty asking price after he recently agreed a new four-year deal with the club. United's reluctance to pay so much is a clear indication of their approach to the summer transfer window, where they are under financial constraints and will not splurge as recklessly as they have done in the past. For example, Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo has emerged as Ruben Amorim's top target over Semenyo, but the Red Devils only want him for a reasonable fee. Despite the Cameroonian's desire to join the Red Devils, United are yet to agree a deal with Brentford, who rejected a second bid of £55 million plus £7.5 million in bonuses for the 25-year-old. The Bees want at least the same fee United paid Wolves for Cunha up-front and it is still unclear whether the Red Devils will pay it. After missing out on European football next season, Amorim's transfer budget this summer is not as big as it might have been if he had won the Europa League final in May. However, United's latest financial results for the first three months of 2025 revealed a more encouraging picture despite Sir Jim Ratcliffe earlier this year suggesting the club was on course to run out of money by Christmas. It's understood that United will therefore look to complete the signing of Mbeumo to go alongside Cunha with their current finances. But they will need to sell the likes of Tyrell Malacia, Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Antony before making any further additions beyond Mbeumo. If United bank the fees they are looking for for the aforementioned players, they will secure somewhere in the region of £170m. It is not expected that Amorim will sign a third forward, with those funds set to be invested in other areas of the pitch. That will mean missing out on Semenyo, who, former United striker Michael Owen, encouraged Liverpool to buy back in March as a replacement for Salah, whose future at the time was still unclear. Owen claimed the versatile winger could be a suitable heir to the Egyptian at Anfield, saying: 'I like Antoine Semenyo at Bournemouth, who plays in the same position as Salah. I like him, a younger version, but definitely got energy, scoring capabilities and a good player.' He added: 'That being said, you can't replace Mo Salah. I mean if you said Mo Salah and Darwin Nunez went and Alexander Isak and Antoine Semenyo came then I don't think it's the worst swap in the world if we're playing fantasy football here, but realistically Liverpool want to keep hold of their best players and Mo Salah is their best player so hopefully he doesn't leave." Semenyo now looks set to stay at Bournemouth unless the club drop their valuation or the player tries to force a move through.
