Shaikha Al Nowais participates in VivaTech 2025 in Paris, highlights importance of localizing advanced solutions to develop tourism products and destinations
Her Excellency Shaikha Nasser Al Nowais, Secretary-General-elect of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) for the 2026–2029 term, participated in VivaTech 2025 exhibition and forum, held under the theme 'New Frontiers of Innovation.' The latest edition of the event saw extensive participation from decision-makers, business leaders, and innovation pioneers from around the world.
Her Excellency visited the UAE Pavilion at the exhibition, where she was briefed on the most prominent projects and innovations presented by Emirati small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), particularly those specializing in tourism and related sectors. She praised the digital solutions and services developed by these companies and highlighted their role in offering innovative solutions that serve the community.
During her meeting with Emirati entrepreneurs at the exhibition, Her Excellency underscored the importance of localizing advanced technologies and artificial intelligence in the development of hospitality services and tourism destinations, in line with international best practices. She noted that technology has become a key enabler in delivering distinctive tourism experiences, improving service quality, and enhancing the competitiveness of the sector.
Her Excellency also toured pavilions of several other international companies operating in the fields of advanced technology, artificial intelligence, and digital solutions. She was apprised of the latest innovations in these fields, which are reshaping the future of digital economy and advancing smart tourism.
VivaTech is the largest technology event and startup exhibition in Europe. This year's edition attracted approximately 165,000 visitors, and featured more than 13,500 startups, along with 3,500 exhibitors and 3,200 investors, serving as a unique platform for accelerating innovation, exchanging ideas, and building strategic partnerships.

The meeting, held at the organisation headquarters in Madrid, focused on exploring ways to enhance cooperation in the tourism sector, reviewing regional and global developments, addressing current challenges, and identifying collaborative efforts to promote sustainable tourism, according to a PDTRA statement. Braizat highlighted the 'significant' impact of regional instability on Jordan's tourism sector, particularly in Petra, which witnessed a 74 per cent decline in international visitors in 2024 compared to 2023. He stressed the 'vital' role of UNWTO in shaping tourism policies and facilitating the exchange of knowledge and expertise among countries and affiliate members. The chief commissioner praised the ongoing partnership between PDTRA and UNWTO, noting that Petra has been an affiliate member since 2023. He underscored that this cooperation opens new horizons for promoting Petra globally and supporting the site's tourism development. Vilcu welcomed the collaboration with PDTRA, praising Jordan's efforts in promoting cultural and heritage tourism. He highlighted the organisation's commitment to supporting initiatives that contribute to the development of tourism destinations and sustainable growth for local communities. Dubai Land Department Expands Real Estate Broker Programme to Emirati Citizens
The Dubai Land Department (DLD) has opened registration for Emirati citizens to join its 'Dubai Real Estate Broker Programme' through a dedicated portal, reinforcing its commitment to increasing national participation in the real estate sector. The move comes in response to high interest from citizens since the programme's launch. Already surpassing 180% of its annual target, the initiative has trained a growing number of Emiratis, supported by partnerships with accredited institutions and private sector stakeholders. Participants who complete the required training receive a three-year real estate broker card, enabling them to operate legally in the market. To date, transactions by programme brokers have exceeded AED 500 million, and 231 new brokerage firms have been licensed. DLD has held over 10 collaborative meetings with 71 strategic partners, including real estate developers, brokerage firms, and training institutes, to build an integrated support ecosystem. The programme is also introducing an incentive system, awarding evaluation points to firms that employ Emirati brokers, boosting their competitive market standing. Aligned with the Dubai Social Agenda 2033, the programme aims to empower Emiratis through skill development, employment opportunities, and participation in major real estate projects. Hamdan bin Mohammed Approves Strategic Policies to Boost Dubai's Global Competitiveness
H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, has approved a series of new strategic policies and development projects aimed at strengthening Dubai's role as a global hub for education, innovation, sustainability, and governance. Chaired by Sheikh Hamdan, The Executive Council of Dubai approved wide-ranging initiatives during its latest meeting at Emirates Towers. These include policies focused on higher education, career guidance, air quality, corporate dispute resolution, and construction governance — all aligned with the goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 and the Education Strategy 2033. The Council endorsed a major project to attract top global universities, aiming to position Dubai among the world's top 10 student destinations by 2033. The initiative targets having international students make up 50% of total enrolments, with the higher education sector expected to contribute AED5.6 billion to Dubai's GDP. An Academic and Career Guidance Policy was also approved to support students in making informed career decisions. Led by the KHDA, the policy sets key targets including 90% employment for Emirati graduates within six months of graduation and enhanced collaboration between schools, universities, and employers. To further bolster Dubai's legal and business environment, the Council greenlit the Dubai International Mediation Centre, designed to offer globally recognised, cost-efficient dispute resolution services and attract foreign investment. Environmental sustainability was another key focus, with the approval of the Air Quality Strategy 2030. The plan aims to ensure 90% of days meet clean air standards by the end of the decade, with targeted reductions in major pollutants. Lastly, the Governance Policy for Government Construction Projects was introduced to standardise processes, boost transparency, and optimise public spending.
