After the anticipated success of 12th Fail, Vikrant Massey is diving into White, where he will take on the role of Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.
Vikrant Massey has been on a roll, captivating audiences with his nuanced performances in critically acclaimed films like 12th Fail and The Sabarmati Report. With a string of hits under his belt, he's solidified his position as one of Bollywood's most talented actors. Now, he's taking a bold step into mainstream commercial cinema, promising to redefine his on-screen presence. His upcoming film is Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, helmed by director Santosh Singh.
Now, in an interaction, Vikrant Massey expressed his aspirations for '12th Fail'. He said, 'I hope it does. And I'm sorry, without the cost of sounding pompous, and with utmost humility. I hope it does. I hope the film wins an award. I hope Vidhu Vinod Chopra wins an award. I hope I win an award. I've always aspired to have one. I've prayed for one."
The actor recalled, 'When I was that young kid wanting to become an actor, I always wanted a National Award because that's the greatest achievement an actor in India can have—to be presented an award by the president of the country. And I hope it happens. So, fingers crossed."
Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan will be followed by White, where Vikrant Massey will embody the spiritual leader Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, with early preparations underway. 'There's one film that I'm also soft-prepping for. It's called White, where I play the honourable Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar," he shared.
Furthermore, Vikrant Massey shared his thoughts on playing Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. He added, 'I'm very nervous. I've been spending a lot of time with him and with the script. We start shooting in August. Spending time with him is also quite unnerving because he's something else—he's God-sent for me. This film, this opportunity, everything feels like it's God-sent."
Later, the actor fondly recalled his experience of working with Shanaya Kapoor on Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, calling her a breath of fresh air. He elaborated, 'It was lovely working with Shanaya. She is a breath of fresh air. There's so much that I learned from her."
However, taking on this project wasn't without its challenges for Massey, who confessed, 'I was very nervous because I've never done something like this, which is an outright commercial Bollywood Hindi movie wherein I'm lip-syncing for the first time. I was very nervous."
Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, starring Vikrant Massey and Shanaya Kapoor, hits theatres on July 11.

Karan Johar Says Shanaya Kapoor Makes 'Every Frame Come Alive' In Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan Trailer

Karan Johar also praised Vikrant Massey for immersing himself in his role. Shanaya Kapoor and Vikrant Massey's Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan trailer was released recently, and Karan Johar is in awe of the film. He took to his Instagram Stories and penned a note for Shanaya Kapoor for her film debut. He also praised Vikrant Massey for his acting prowess and shared the trailer on Instagram. Karan Johar said, 'A heartfelt love story with the promise of deep and solid emotion. Shanaya, you're so gorgeously sincere and make every frame come alive. Vikrant, you are so amazing and have immersed yourself into the part! Badhai ho, Sandy! Can't wait to watch." Have a look here: Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan is directed by Santosh Singh and is based on Ruskin Bond's story — The Eyes Have It. Produced by Zee Studios, Mini Films and Open Window Films, the film is scheduled for release on July 11. The film marks Shanaya Kapoor's long-awaited Bollywood debut. After Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, Shanaya Kapoor will be seen in director Bejoy Nambiar's survival thriller, Tu Yaa Main, where she will star alongside Adarsh Gourav. In a recent chat with us, Shanaya called facing the camera a 'surreal" experience. She said, 'Facing the camera is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. It's such a surreal feeling. Like, after the cut, you go back and you're like, 'Oh my God, that's going to last forever'. So, you cannot take this lightly. You owe it to the camera and the audience. You owe it to the actor you're working with, the crew that is there waiting for you to get that shot, and, of course, also owe it to yourself. That's the least amount that I can do to have something so big that it's everlasting. I'm just happy with how things have happened." 'There were moments where I was thinking this is just not going to happen, or maybe this is not meant to happen, and it's it. You had those feelings, but you had to pick yourself up. You have to keep working. And what was like, my mom always says, 'The universe has a plan and trust the universe, put your head down. What's in your control, you control that,'" she concluded.
