Ex-NFL star Donald Driver becomes chief motivation officer to help empower girls to stay in sports
He built a lasting legacy on the field, and he is looking to grow it off the field as the first chief motivation officer for SURGE by BSN Sports. He will help lead a program dedicated to empowering girls to stay in sports as the company provides tools for coaches to help female athletes.
"We really want to bring awareness and strength to women in sports because, right now, we all know that 72% of coaches in youth sports are males. There's not a lot of females that do this," Driver said in an interview with Fox News Digital. "What we want to do is say, how do we bring awareness but then also give coaches the tools that they need to be successful in coaching young women in sports."
Driver explained that his children are different in the way they need to be coached and properly motivated.
He said he can yell at his son about the things he does, who can move on from it, but his daughter is different.
"I have to go into more of that heart-to-heart conversation with them, like, 'Hey, let's work together to address the issue. I understand this must be a frustrating situation.' I really have to talk to them different ... than I talk to my son.
"With this program, we really want to just continue to aim to empower women to play sports and never stop."
Driver was named the chief motivation officer last week.
He helped the Packers to a Super Bowl title in 2010. He had 743 catches for 10,137 yards and 61 touchdowns during his career.

Matthew Stafford update: How long will Rams QB be out?
The defending NFC West champion Los Angeles Rams invested resources this offseason to ensure they have one of the top offenses in the league. Los Angeles retained left tackle Alaric Jackson and signed three-time first-team All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams. 'We've got a good plan in place,' McVay said. 'We are going to still take some more time with him, though. Nothing that's changed in terms of the setback. I probably spoke a little bit too soon, but the ultimate goal is [Week 1 game against] Houston and being mindful of that. So we'll take it a week at a time with him." There's no clear timetable for Stafford's return to the field at training camp as the Rams are taking this week-to-week approach. McVay reiterated that there's no "reason for concern" as to why Stafford won't be practicing. Los Angeles' preseason games start Aug. 9 against the Dallas Cowboys, but it was unlikely Stafford would play in that matchup even if fully healthy. McVay will likely provide more updates in the coming days and into next week about Stafford's availability. Stafford missed just one game in 2024, the regular season finale against Seattle, to rest ahead of the playoffs. In 16 games (all starts), Stafford completed 340 of 517 passes for 3,762 yards, 20 touchdowns and eight interceptions. The Rams went 10-7 during the regular season and advanced as far as the divisional round of the NFC playoffs, where they lost to the eventual Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, 28-22.

Jets' Joe Tippmann making most of competition on offensive line
New York Jets center Joe Tippmann was among the bright spots in a dark 2024 season. The then-sophomore blocker made a successful full-time transition from guard. Since moving to center, Tippmann's 70.6 overall Pro Football Focus grade ranks 14th among centers who have played at least 500 snaps. Tippmann's improved play is why it was surprising when the Jets signed veteran center Josh Myers to a one-year deal worth $3.5 million earlier this offseason. The experienced Myers started 56 total contests for the Green Bay Packers over the previous four campaigns. His arrival incited a competition at center between Tippmann and himself. Tippmann is making the most of the situation, he recently told The New York Post at training camp. 'At first, I mean, it took me by surprise a little bit,' Tippmann said after Wednesday's first day of training camp in Florham Park. 'But Coach [Aaron Glenn] actually called me first, and he kind of let me know the situation beforehand. So after that, I was just excited.' Tippmann started all 17 contests for the Jets last season, playing every single offensive snap. Coach Glenn provided clarity, repeatedly reiterating that there is an open competition 'at every position." It lit a fire under Tippmann, who didn't expect to be competing for a starting gig. "It was certainly made clear that it's a competition," Myers said at the podium, reiterating that he's been told he'll receive every opportunity imaginable this summer to compete for a starting job. It'll be worth monitoring how the Jets split first-team reps between Tippmann and Myers throughout training camp. It would be shocking if Myers actually defeated Tippmann for the starting job. Instead, the Jets should have terrific depth behind their young, ascending center this year.
