Biker killed in six-vehicle crash on popular Scots tourist route
A 71-year-old man has been killed in a six-vehicle crash on a busy tourist route on the hottest day of the year so far.
The pensioner was riding a Harley Davidson motorbike with side car when it was involved in the horror incident along with five cars on the A82 near Renton, West Dunbartonshire, on Saturday, July 12.
He was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. The road was closed for over six hours for investigations following the collision at 1.45pm, eventually reopening at around 8.10pm.
The man's next of kin have been informed. The drivers of all five cars, a Volvo XC90, a Nissan Juke, a Vauxhall Corsa, an Audi A6 sport and a Seat Leon, were not injured.
Police are now appealing for any information or footage of the incident as their enquiries continue.

Sergeant Kenny Malaney of Road Policing West said: 'Our inquiries are continuing to establish the full circumstances of what happened. Sadly, the male motorcyclist died, and our thoughts are with his family and friends.
'The road would have been busy at the time and I would ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or who may have dash-cam footage to contact us as soon as possible.
'Anyone with information should call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 1927 of Saturday, 12 July, 2025.'
The crash happened as Scotland recorded its hottest day of 2025 so far, and the hottest for over two years.
Temperatures reached as high as 30C in some parts of the country, as health bosses advised revellers attending TRNSMT festival at Glasgow Green over the weekend to cover up and stay hydrated to avoid sunburn and sunstroke.

Amazon delivery driver dies after horror collision with train at level crossing
The circumstances surrounding the incident are currently under investigation. An Amazon delivery driver has died after their van was hit by a train at a level crossing. British Transport Police said it was called to the railway line in Tonge, near Sittingbourne, Kent, shortly after 12.45pm on Sunday following reports of a train striking a van. Local police, ambulance and fire and rescue services also attended, but the driver died at the scene. Footage shared on social media appeared to show a large fire producing black smoke in a rural area lined with trees, while other images showed helicopters landing on fields next to the railway line. Southeastern Railway, which runs services on the line, said major disruption was expected until the end of the day. Services running between Gillingham and Faversham reopened shortly after 8.30pm. No one else was injured in the incident. An Amazon spokesperson said in a statement: 'This is a terrible incident and our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with the delivery driver's family and loved ones during this difficult time. 'We will work with police and the delivery service provider as they investigate.' It is understood the victim was delivering Amazon parcels when the incident happened. The cause of the collision is under investigation. David Davidson, chief operating officer at Southeastern Railway, said: 'A train was involved in a collision with a van at a level crossing near Teynham earlier this afternoon. In a later update, Mr Davidson said: 'We are deeply saddened to confirm that the driver of the road vehicle involved in the collision with a train earlier today has tragically died. 'Our thoughts are with their family and loved ones at this incredibly difficult time. 'No one else was injured in the incident. We are working hard to reopen the line later this evening and expect to run a full service tomorrow.' Replacement buses are currently running between Gillingham and Faversham and Sittingbourne and Sheerness-on-Sea with the line still blocked, while ticket acceptance was in place on other Southeastern high-speed trains, Thameslink and Fast Track buses, Mr Davidson said. Passengers on the train involved in the crash were transferred on to another train and taken to Sittingbourne for onward travel. Kent Police said it was called to a report of the collision at a level crossing in Lower Road, Teynham, at 12.43pm, and that patrols remain at the scene. South East Coast Ambulance Service said crews including its Hazardous Area Response Team attended the scene, and were joined by regional Air Ambulance providers.

Police update from 'fireball' plane crash at UK airport
Police have warned people to stay away from the area while they work at the scene. Police have issued an update from the scene of a horror plane crash at a UK airport. Initial reports from the incident at Southend Airport in Essex suggest the light aircraft, which was travelling to the Netherlands, plunged to the ground during take-off on Sunday, July 13. Witnesses claim to have saw a "huge fireball" as plumes of black smoke billowed into the sky at around 4pm, the Mirror reports. It is not yet known how many people were on board. Essex Police, who are in attendance with all emergency services, have said the crash is a "serious incident", and warned they will be on scene "for several hours" as they urged locals to avoid the area. A statement from the force reads: "We remain on the scene of a serious incident at Southend Airport. We were alerted shortly before 4pm to reports of a collision involving one 12-metre plane. "We are working with all emergency services at the scene now and that work will be ongoing for several hours. We would please ask the public to avoid this area where possible while this work continues. "As a precaution due to their proximity to the incident, we are evacuating the Rochford Hundred Golf Club and Westcliff Rugby Club. Updates will be issued as soon as is possible." My thoughts are with all those involved, and with the emergency services currently responding to the incident." East of England Ambulance Service said in a statement: "Four ambulances, a rapid response vehicle, four Hazardous Area Response Team vehicles, three senior paramedic cars and Essex and Herts Air Ambulance have been sent to Southend Airport responding to reports of an incident involving an airplane."
