BTS Reportedly Recorded An Unreleased Michael Jackson Song For Icon's Tribute Album
Now, word is spreading that a tribute album is currently in the works, featuring unreleased songs from the icon's music vault. Reports suggest that global K-pop sensation BTS (방탄소년단) will be among the artists contributing to the project. Here's what we know so far:
According to The Irish Sun, Michael Jackson had been working on an album at Grouse Lodge Studios in Ireland in 2006, which has been described as the 'next Thriller'. It remains unclear whether the singer recorded demos for the tracks, but the report indicates that the songs were at least written. Unfortunately, the sessions were never completed, as Jackson left the country and tragically passed away 3 years later.
The studio's owner, Paddy Dunning, told The Irish Sun that they decided to proceed with the project as a tribute album, recruiting artists to record the songs originally intended for the King of Pop. The Estate of Jackson has reportedly approved the album's release and among the artists contributing is K-pop boyband BTS.
'The sessions started last year, and we've already had BTS over with us, recording one of the songs. There are about 10 more, written especially for Michael by the collaborators he worked with in Ireland, including producer Rodney Jerkins and rapper Nephew, who have signed up for the project,' Paddy revealed.
Although news of the collaboration has received mixed reactions from both BTS and Michael Jackson fans, members of the K-pop group have previously cited the legendary performer as one of their musical inspirations. They have also paid tribute to his music and iconic choreography in their own performances.
With this in mind, if the reports are true, there should be little doubt that BTS will do the track justice. What do you think about this possible collaboration? Who else do you think will be part of this tribute album?

(Video) BOYNEXTDOOR Allegedly Faced Discrimination During Recent US Trip
It isn't uncommon for idols to face discrimination when performing or travelling in countries outside their own. For example, when the iconic K-pop group Stray Kids attended the Met Gala, some members of the press were openly rude and dismissive toward them. This kind of behaviour has been called out for years, and while progress has been made, incidents like this still happen. On 2nd August (Saturday), the rising group BOYNEXTDOOR (보이넥스트도어) shared details of an alleged case of mistreatment during their time in the U.S. The incident quickly sparked concern among fans and industry watchers. It has also reignited discussions about the ongoing discrimination that non-Western artists continue to experience, both subtle and direct, when navigating global platforms. Following their performance at Lollapalooza 2025 — one of the world's biggest music festivals — BOYNEXTDOOR went live from their hotel room to share an unsettling experience. Earlier that day, they had eaten at a restaurant where something felt off. The group explained that they were already seated in a booth when they tried to place their order. They called over a waiter, but he had told them to wait and walked away to serve another table instead. The same waiter eventually returned to pour their drinks, but when Riwoo (리우) told him they were ready to order, the waiter interrupted again, asked them to wait, and left. Member Leehan (이한) quickly called it out as discrimination. Afterwards, the group began discussing how restaurant roles can vary — with some staff responsible only for certain tasks — though the tone of the conversation suggested they questioned whether this was just a misunderstanding or something more deliberate. ONEDOORs (BOYNEXTDOOR fans) were quick to voice their frustration online. Many fans argued that once seated, it's standard courtesy to start taking orders and expressed concern that the group was being overlooked due to race or nationality. Others urged caution, noting that fans might lack full context — for example, certain restaurant staff aren't tasked with taking orders, and the waiter could have simply been busy. Even so, Leehan's strong reaction raised concerns. It suggested that this may not have been the group's first encounter with subtle racial profiling. Whether or not the restaurant intended to discriminate, the moment struck a chord with fans. It served as a reminder of the everyday challenges international artists still face when navigating unfamiliar spaces, even in casual, everyday settings. Malaysian-born actress Lee Sinje to star in Netflix thriller ‘The Resurrected', marking her debut in a Chinese-language Netflix series
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 5 — Malaysian-born actress Lee Sinje (Angelica Lee) will star in the upcoming Netflix thriller series The Resurrected, co-directed by acclaimed Taiwanese filmmakers Leste Chen and Hsu Chao-jen, marking her debut in a Chinese-language Netflix series. Lee is no stranger to the world of cinema, having starred in acclaimed films such as The Eye (2002) — a role that earned her the prestigious Golden Horse Award for Best Actress — and The Garden of Evening Mists (2019). She also appeared in the political drama series The Election (2014) and served as a producer on the critically acclaimed Malaysian film Abang Adik (2023). In a statement, Lee shared, 'I've never encountered a female-driven story that's so intense, a little wild, and deeply emotional. 'It was such a thrill to be a part of it, and of course, I'm even more excited for the day we get to share it with audiences around the world,' she said. Lee will star alongside acclaimed Hong Kong–Taiwanese actress Shu Qi, who also makes her first appearance in a Chinese-language Netflix production, sharing that she was immediately drawn to the script, which she felt was bold and groundbreaking, not just for her as an actress, but for Chinese-language series as a whole. 'I've already seen some rough cuts during dubbing, but when I saw the teaser, I still went, 'Wow!'' she added. Set in the fictional city of Benkha, The Resurrected centres on two mothers Wang Hui-chun (Shu Qi) and Chao Ching (Sinje Lee) united by hatred, seeking revenge for their daughters caught in a fraud and kidnapping case. As dark secrets unravel, their alliance is tested in a story of vengeance, betrayal, and the limits of justice and morality. The cast also features Alyssa Chia, Fu Meng-Po, Sukollawat Kanarot (Weir), Chung Hsin-ling, Caitlin Fang, Lin Ting-yi, Liu Chu-ping, Vivi Chen, Rexen Cheng, and Patrick Nattawat Finkler. The Resurrected premieres exclusively on Netflix on October 9, 2025.
