Jury in Manchester Airport case sent out to consider verdicts

The jury in the trial of two brothers accused over assaults on police officers at Manchester Airport has been sent out to consider its verdicts. Pc Zachary Marsden, Pc Lydia Ward and Pc Ellie Cook approached Mohammed Fahir Amaaz, 20, at a ticket machine after a report that a male fitting his description had headbutted a customer at Starbucks cafe in T2 arrivals on July 23 last year. Amaaz allegedly resisted, and his brother, Muhammad Amaad, 26, is then said to have intervened as the prosecution said they inflicted a 'high level of violence' on the Greater Manchester Police officers. The Crown say CCTV footage showed Amaaz threw 10 punches, which included one to the face of Pc Ward that knocked her to the floor, and that Amaad aimed six punches at firearms officer Pc Marsden. Amaaz is also said to have kicked Pc Marsden and twice struck fellow firearms officer Pc Cook with his elbow. He is said to have punched Pc Marsden from behind and then had hold of him before Pc Cook discharged her Taser device. Mobile phone footage of a kick and stamp by Pc Marsden as Amaaz lay on the floor was shared on social media and went viral. Amaaz and Amaad, both from Rochdale, Greater Manchester, told the court they acted in lawful self-defence, or in defence of the other. Giving evidence at Liverpool Crown Court, Amaaz said he feared the 'lunatic' male officer would 'batter him to death' and Amaad said he believed he was under attack. The defence said the officers used 'unlawful force' as they grabbed Amaaz from behind without announcing themselves. Amaaz is alleged to have assaulted Pc Marsden and Pc Ward, causing them actual bodily harm. He is also accused of the assault of emergency worker Pc Cook, and the earlier assault by beating of a member of the public, Abdulkareem Ismaeil, at a Starbucks cafe in T2 arrivals – in which he also claimed he was acting in self-defence Amaad is alleged to have assaulted Pc Marsden, causing actual bodily harm.

Bloodcurdling audio of cops finding couple executed in front of children at Arkansas Devil's Den State Park

Bloodcurdling audio reveals the horror police faced as they discovered the bodies of a husband and wife who were executed in front of their two young daughters at an Arkansas state park over the weekend. Clinton, 43, and Cristen Brink, 41, were found dead at around 2.40pm on Saturday on a 'remote and rural' trail at Devil's Den State Park. Officers heard desperate cries for rescue as they descended on the rugged terrain, newly released audio revealed. 'We hear yells calling out for help. We're hiking down,' one officer told the dispatcher. 'We're hearing them too towards the end of the lower part of Devil's Den trail,' another replied. The officers later confirmed they found 'two bodies'. In a terrifying revelation, officers said the couple appeared to be slain in a targeted assassination by a fleeing suspect who actively tried to cover his tracks. 'The suspect is going to be a white male wearing black gloves, sunglasses, with dark colored pants and a dark colored tank top,' one officer reported. The officer added that the suspect 'took off in a small, black sports car with taped over plates'. He reportedly drove across a bridge, left the park and got on the highway. Authorities have ruled that Clinton and Cristen's deaths constituted a double homicide. Their bodies will be sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab, where their cause and manner of death will be determined. The couple's two daughters, ages seven and nine, were hiking with them. They were uninjured and are now safe with family members. It is unclear why the couple were attacked, as they had recently moved to the state, according to police. Their public Facebook profiles show they had previously lived in Montana. Investigators are pursuing all leads and are working with state and federal authorities to track down the suspect. The area of the park where the murders occurred is described by police as 'a remote and rural area, where the terrain is rugged, vegetation is thick and there is no cellphone service'. Devil's Den State Park was closed off and secured by law enforcement after the brutal attack. The park's website noted that 'all trails are closed until further notice'. A manhunt remains underway for the suspected murderer, who was seen driving toward a park exit in a black four-door sedan, possibly a Mazda, with duct or electrical tape covering the license plate. It is believed he then traveled on State Route 170 or 220. Officials have described him as a white male with a medium build, wearing a long-sleeved shirt with the sleeves rolled up, dark pants, a dark-colored baseball cap, sunglasses and fingerless gloves. He was also carrying a black backpack with him at the time. As police continue to hunt down the suspect, they have asked anyone who was at the state park on Saturday to check any photos and videos they took for images of the suspect. Those photos should then be sent directly to the Arkansas State Police and should not be posted to social media, which authorities said could hinder the investigation. Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders said she was 'heartbroken' by the 'horrific' attack at the park and that her office is 'in close contact with State Police and the Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism as they work to apprehend the suspect'. 'We are praying for the family and friends of the victims and know that law enforcement will not rest until the perpetrator is brought to justice,' she added. Shea Lewis, the Secretary of Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism issued a statement saying: 'We are deeply saddened by the tragic events that occurred at Devil's Den State Park. 'Our hearts are with the victims' loved ones during this incredibly difficult time,' she continued, noting that 'the safety of our visitors and staff is our highest priority and we are working closely with the Arkansas State Police and various law enforcement officials as the investigation continues.'
