Here is the timeline of events leading up to and following their disappearance, which ended with the heartbreaking discovery in Sungai Korok:
JULY 5
The victims, Mohd Azim Ezzat Ishak, 32, his wife, and their four children who lived in Jerlun, arrived at his sister's home in Taman Aman, Jitra, to spend the night.
JULY 6
Azim's sister, Nur Adliah Shuhada, lodged a police report after the entire family could not be located since that morning following their overnight stay.
She said that the family regularly stayed over and would usually leave early in the morning so Azim, who worked as a security guard, could report for duty.
The family's disappearance, including wife Nurul Hidayah Khalijah Razman Effendy, 31 and their four children aged between six months and nine years, was noticed when they did not return home to Jerlun and could not be contacted.
Adliah also clarified that the couple's eldest child, a 12-year-old, was not with them and had stayed behind with their grandmother in Jerlun.
She added that the night before the disappearance, everything seemed normal and the couple had not shared any issues or concerns.
News outlets began reporting on the missing family and public alerts were widely circulated.
JULY 7
The missing family was found dead on Monday morning inside their Proton Iswara, which was discovered submerged in Sungai Korok.
The vehicle was located at the bottom of the river, prompting a response from the Kedah Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM).
Zone 1 Fire Chief and Senior Fire Superintendent Ahmad Aminuddin Abd Rahim confirmed they received an emergency call regarding a vehicle that had fallen into the river at 8.38am.
The bodies were confirmed to be that of one adult male, one adult female, three children and an infant.
Recovery efforts were still ongoing, and the identification of the victims was being carried out by their next of kin.

JOHOR BARU, July 13 — An individual is feared drowned after falling into a seawater channel following a two-motorcycle accident along Jalan Bazar Karat, near Pos Malaysia, last night. According to the Johor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Centre, an emergency call was received at 10.49 pm, and the first response team arrived at the scene six minutes later. 'The Operations Response Team found that the accident involved a Yamaha motorcycle and another bike with an unconfirmed registration number, believed to have been flung into the river. 'One victim is suspected to have fallen into the seawater channel, while three others were taken to the hospital before rescuers arrived,' the statement read. Search operations were carried out within a 30-metre radius of the site, including three dives to a depth of 12 feet, but the missing victim has yet to be found. The Yamaha motorcycle was successfully retrieved, and the operation was called off at 1.14 am. The case has been handed over to police for further action. Hit-and-run crash in Tuaran claims motorcyclist's life

TUARAN: A motorcyclist was killed in a suspected hit-and-run incident in Kampung Lok Batik here on Saturday. Police said the 7.50am crash involved a Modenas Kriss motorcycle and a Perodua Kembara, which was allegedly struck by a Proton Iswara. The Iswara driver fled the scene and abandoned the vehicle about 200 metres away in front of an unoccupied house, police added. The motorcyclist, who suffered serious head injuries, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two hospitalised after bus, car collide in Ranau

The Fire and Rescue Department responded to the 10.16pm call and arrived at the scene 21 minutes later. Of the 23 people involved, 20 passengers were uninjured, while the 65-year-old bus driver sustained injuries and a female passenger was found unconscious. Both received immediate medical attention before being transported by ambulance to Ranau Hospital for further treatment.
