The Malaysian delegation landed at Pavillon d'Honneur Orly Airport at 4.10 pm local time after concluding a three-day working visit to Rome. Malaysia's Ambassador to France, Datuk Eldeen Husaini, along with French officials, welcomed Anwar upon arrival. The visit underscores France's commitment to strengthening diplomatic and economic ties with Malaysia since Anwar became prime minister in 2022.
Advertisement Tonight, Anwar will engage with 250 members of the Malaysian diaspora in France. On Friday, he is scheduled for a one-on-one meeting with Macron at the Élysée Palace, where discussions will cover trade, investment, renewable energy, semiconductors, defence, education, digital economy, and artificial intelligence. Both leaders are also expected to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The prime minister is accompanied by several ministers, including Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan and Investment, Trade, and Industry Minister Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz. A key focus of the visit is attracting French investment, with Anwar set to meet industry leaders from companies such as Imerys, Arkema, Airbus, and Thales. France is among Malaysia's top five trading partners in the EU, with bilateral trade reaching RM15.95 billion in 2024. ASEAN security agendas for September meeting in Melaka
SEMPORNA: A total of 10 security agendas will form the consensus and focus of discussions at the ASEAN Ministers' Meeting on Security in Melaka in September. Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, who will chair the meeting, said among the topics to be discussed are tackling cross-border crimes, intelligence sharing, capacity building and joint operations. 'To tackle cross-border crimes, we will leverage our ASEAN Chairmanship this year as the best platform to exchange information and ideas that can be developed into strategies for effectively addressing security issues,' he said. MALAYSIAN-OWNED technology firm Zchwantech Titan Lda has successfully conducted a high-level technology showcase for the Timor Leste government by presenting its flagship National Digital Identity platform as part of the country's broader vision to modernise public services and accelerate digital governance. The strategic engagement took place during a recent official working visit by senior Timor Leste government representatives to Malaysia. This was when the regional digital identity systems specialist demonstrated its secure biometric-powered digital identity solution which is designed to integrate key public and private sectors spanning banking, healthcare, telecommunications, education and civil registries to the Timor Leste delegation. Zchwantech's presentation was well received with Timor Leste's government officials expressing strong interest and satisfaction in the platform's potential to support the country's E-Governance Roadmap and its Vision 2025 for an inclusive and connected society. In a nutshell, the system is designed to provide unique digital identifiers linked to biometric and demographic data, thus enabling secure, seamless access to services for over one million citizens. 'This is more than just a digital ID – it's about empowering people, creating transparent institutions and laying the foundation for inclusive digital growth,' commented Zchwantech's chairman Datuk Seow Gim Shen. 'We commend the Timor Leste government's leadership in prioritising national digital transformation and are ready to support Timor Leste every step of the way.' Reaffirming the delivery of its commitment, Zchwantech,'s executive director Alex Chan Chau Loong described the project as an undertaking where 'vision meets execution'. 'We're turning Timor Leste's Digital Revolution goals into reality. Our Digital ID platform is built to be both agile and rigorously secure, thus ensuring fast deployment while safeguarding citizen trust,' he envisages. Pilot showcase zone As part of the proposed phased deployment model, Zchwantech has earmarked Oecusse – Timor-Leste's Special Administrative Region – as the ideal pilot location to launch the Digital ID platform. The showcase envisions Oecusse as a controlled, scalable testbed that can demonstrate tangible benefits ahead of a full nationwide roll-out. This pilot concept aligns with Timor Leste's strategy to build confidence in new technologies through live demonstrations, stakeholder engagement and phased adoption across government ministries and institutions. If adopted, Timor Leste stands to become one of the first ASEAN nations to implement a nationwide digital identity framework powered by biometrics and secure data infrastructure – one which positions the country as a regional trailblazer in digital public service innovation. The proposed platform supports the country's aspirations toward ASEAN accession while reinforcing national goals for financial inclusion, transparent governance and cross-border digital interoperability. Angkasa approves RM255m for nine high-impact cooperative projects
KUALA LUMPUR: The 39th ANGKASA delegates' general meeting (MAPA) today approved an allocation of RM255 million to implement nine high-impact business projects set to benefit both the cooperative community and the general public. Angkatan Koperasi Kebangsaan Malaysia Berhad (ANGKASA) president Datuk Seri Dr Abdul Fattah Abdullah said the projects include the establishment of a cooperative-owned digital bank, food security initiatives, the development of affordable housing and the production of dairy products. 'Our goal is for cooperatives not only to remain relevant but to become major players in critical economic sectors such as food security, digital financial services and affordable housing. 'This RM255 million allocation aims to unlock greater potential and positioning cooperatives to be more competitive and sustainable,' he told reporters after the meeting, held at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur today. The meeting also saw elections for ANGKASA's top two leadership posts - president and deputy president. Abdul Fattah retained his position after securing majority support from delegates, while Associate Prof Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Abdul Razak Shaik was elected as deputy president for the 2025-2028 term. The annual meeting brought together 4,898 cooperative delegates from across the country to deliberate on key resolutions, the strategic direction of the national cooperative movement, and action plans to strengthen the standing of Malaysian cooperatives at both domestic and international levels. - Bernama
