Bindi Irwin shares sad update on 'crippling' endometriosis journey
Bindi Irwin has been vocal about the reality of living with endometriosis since receiving her diagnosis two years ago. The wildlife warrior has now shared a painful update with her fans.
One in nine girls, women and people assigned female at birth live with endometriosis, many of whom have to miss work, school, events and commitments due to flare-ups and complications.
Bindi Irwin has been open about her battle with the often debilitating condition, and has shared a health update after she had to miss the annual Steve Irwin Gala, instead spending the night in the hospital.
The 26-year-old went public with her diagnosis in early 2023, and has given followers updates on her personal struggles online since, as a way to help others feel less alone.
She even received the EndoFound Blossom Award in 2024 for her work.
The wildlife warrior posted a series of photos to Instagram, including one from a hospital bed.
Irwin wrote she is 'healing' after previously revealing she had her appendix removed, 'along with 14 lesions (after having 37 endometriosis lesions and a cyst removed two years ago)'. Surgeons also repaired a hernia she 'acquired through childbirth four years ago'.

Ever dedicated to raising awareness of life with endo, she thanked her followers for their support before writing, 'The reason I share my health journey is because more girls and women desperately need answers to their undiagnosed pain.'
'This disease is crippling and can make you feel incredibly isolated. We need to raise awareness and change the narrative for women's health. I see you, your pain is real, and you deserve answers and genuine health care', she wrote, before linking to The Endometriosis Foundation of America (EndoFound).
Irwin's family shared their support for the 26-year-old, with mum, Terri, commenting 'Thank you for sharing your journey.', while her husband of five years, Chandler Powell, wrote 'Thank you for always helping others.'
Steve Irwin's eldest child has 'battled with endometriosis for more than 12 years', and dealt with 'insurmountable fatigue, pain & nausea', while being told these symptoms were 'simply something you deal with as a woman'.
She also posted a video earlier this month, addressing her followers while still tired in her hospital bed just an hour after surgery, to share details of her health journey and thank her supporters.

Teddi Mellencamp doesn't want 'hard conversations'
Teddi Mellencamp is ignoring "hard conversations" about the future. The 44-year-old reality star was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer earlier this year after she was found to have multiple tumours on her brain and lungs, and though she has successfully undergone immunotherapy, which has seen the growths "significantly" shrink, Teddi is "in denial" of her physical condition and doesn't want to speak to her family about the reality of her situation. And when other people are not in denial, it's hard. "My family wants to have like the hard conversations, and I don't... Her co-host Tamra Judge said: "You don't want to talk about that with anybody." Her pal quipped: "I don't want to talk about it with you either, for the record Judge revealed that." Tamra admitted Teddi rarely speaks about her health and she can only gauge what is happening by studying her pal's social media accounts. She said: "I have to pull it out of you... It's like, I know when you're not feeling well is when you're not posting on Instagram." The former Real Housewives star revealed last month that her body has been responding well to treatment. She said on her podcast: "Last time, they had checked solely my brain, and those tumours are shrinking. And then, today I had the scan, where they checked my lungs and they are shrinking and one of them has shrunk so much you can barely even see it." Despite this, Teddi will have to continue with immunotherapy - which uses a patient's own immune system to fight cancer - for the next two years. She said: "So every four weeks for the next two years, I have to come in and get that done. And then every three months I get another scan and we check to make sure that everything is where it is." Asked whether immunotherapy was controlling or curing her cancer, Teddi replied: "It's both. "It's making sure that it's getting smaller and then let's say that it gets so small that it disappears, it's making sure that it won't form anywhere else in my body. "I was a little bit worried about having to live on immunotherapy because you know how I am when I get super emotional on certain days. But I think that the fact that this is all moving in a smooth path forward is really good news."

Ben Askren: Former UFC fighter dies four times while having double lung transplant after getting pneumonia
A tough nut UFC fighter has tearfully told how he died four times in the past month. Ben Askren was known for his trash talk and heavy hitting in the ring but it was outside the canvass where he met his biggest challenge. The 40-year-old American was put in hospital in June with severe pneumonia stemming from a staph infection. His condition quickly deteriorated and he had to be put into a medically induced coma. But the real kick came when he then had to have both of his lungs replaced. Askren took to social media from his hospital bed on Wednesday to give fans an update on his progress. At times losing breath and coughing, the fighter revealed that he had lost 22kg throughout the ordeal. 'I actually just read through my wife's journal cause I don't remember anything from May 28 to July 2,' he says in the video posted on Instagram. 'No recollection, zero idea, no idea what happened. We'll kind of go through it all, and I just read through my wife's journal. 'It's like a movie, it's ridiculous. So I only died four times. The ticker stopped for about 20 seconds. 'That's not ideal. I hope you guys know that but I got the double lung transplant.' Askren said that he was slowly regaining his strength. 'I made it out to the other side of it,' the father-of-three said. 'And I'm gaining quite a bit of strength and learning to use everything again. 'I was actually on a scale yesterday and I was weighing 147 pounds (about 66.6kg). I haven't been 147 pounds since 15 years old. 'It was like 50 pounds in a 45-day period. So, man, that was a battle. I don't remember most of it.' Askren was able to get the lifesaving double lung transplant thanks to the UFC, martial arts and wrestling communities rallying around to raise the money. He said that he plans to give back and take his second chance at life by coaching the next generation of wrestlers. 'I'm more motivated than ever to keep giving and get back and do what I can and help out the best I can help out,' he said. 'I love you guys, I appreciate you guys. It's been tough not only on me, but my whole family and my close community. 'So I appreciate everything. I hope you guys appreciate the update.'
