Lewis Capaldi takes to Glastonbury stage for iconic comeback after release of powerful new single
Lewis Capaldi has made an iconic comeback on Glastonbury's Pyramid Stage.
The Scots singer had rumour mills spinning for weeks about whether he would be returning to Glasto after his last performance there two years ago.
In 2023, whilst on stage, Lewis was visibly struggling with his Tourette's Syndrome to the point fans had to finish his songs for him.
The singer apologised to fans profusely as he was losing his voice and struggling with his vocals. Lewis could been seen looking visibly frustrated throughout the set as he made a heartbreaking announcement to the crowd.
But now, it seems the star is back bigger and better than ever as he delighted the masses in Somerset.
Fans believed that Lewis would be playing the mysterious 'TBA' slot on the iconic Pyramid Stage from 4.55pm until 5.30pm today as the singer dropped new song 'Survive' at midnight after billboards appeared at a station close to the Glastonbury site and in Glasgow City Centre with messages of lyrics to the track.
Festival goers were also pictured waving signs at the site carrying a picture of the star wearing sunglasses with the words: "Celebrity lookalike contest - Pyramid Stage 16:45 - Absolutely zero cash prize."
Last night, Lewis posted for the first time this year with a snippet to his new song. In the tune, Lewis references his mental health challenges and feelings of self-doubt and despair.
He sings: 'How long 'til it feels like I'm more than a spoke in a wheel?
'Most nights I fear that I'm not enough. I've had my share of Monday mornings when I can't get up. But when hope is lost and I come undone, I swear to God I'll survive. If it kills me to, I'm gonna get up and try, if it's the last thing I do.
'I've still got something to give. Though it hurts sometimes, I'm gonna get up and live. Until the day that I die.'
The Bruises hitmaker took time off in the lead-up to the festival in 2023 to focus on his mental health and told fans on stage he would likely be taking another extended break following the performance.
He said: "Look I'm really sorry before we go any further, because this is a pain in the arse," he said. "You've all come out and I'm apologising that my voice is f***ing packing in. Glastonbury I'm really sorry. I'm a bit annoyed with myself here.
"I recently took three weeks off, just because I've been non-stop since the start of the year and wanted a break for my head and my mental health. I wanted to come back and do Glastonbury because it's so incredible and I just want to thank you all for coming out.
"I was shit scared but you really made me feel at ease. I'm really sorry. I hope they will let me back on even though it's been a sh**show.
"I feel like I'll be taking another break over the next few weeks so you probably won't see me for the rest of the year. But when I do come back and I do see you I hope you're up for watching."

Scots TV icon Glen Michael laid to rest with fitting final farewell
'That's All Folks': Scots TV legend Glen Michael was given a heartwarming final send-off on Tuesday, July 15. Scots TV legend Glen Michael was given a final farewell by family, fans and friends as he was laid to rest yesterday. The Cartoon Cavalcade host passed away at his Ayrshire cottage last week following a short illness. He was 99. Glen was given a send off at Ayr's Masonhill Crematorium. And mourners were left smiling after the Cavalcade theme tune was played his final committal music - before cartoon character Porky Pig raised a laugh with his famous catchphrase 'That's All Folks'. Glen's son Chris Buckland, 66, and daughter Yonnie, 74, were among the mourners - and both paid glowing tributes to their dad. Born Cecil Edward Buckland on May 16, 1926 in Paignton, Devon, Glen came to Scotland in 1952 to try his hand as a stand-up comedian, and stayed here for the rest of his life. In 1966 he launched Cartoon Cavalcade on STV, featuring favourites including Bugs Bunny and Tom and Jerry which ran until 1992. It became essential Sunday tea time viewing for generations of Scots with Glen accompanied by his companions including Paladin the talking lamp, Totty the Robot and dachshunds Rudi and Rusti. He later took Cartoon Cavalcade on the road, performing live shows at schools across Scotland. One of Glen's proudest achievement was winning a BAFTA award for the Best Children's Programme in 1975. Chu, who also directed Wicked, so it's not hard to see how she got the part. She will star alongside Josh Gad, who is best known for voicing Olaf in Frozen, so she's in good company. Ariana will be back in cinemas in November for sequel Wicked: For Good. SZA hits back at Minaj NICKI Minaj has rowed with Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion and Taylor Swift, to name just a few. In a cryptic message, SZA tweeted: 'Mercury retrograde . . . don't take the bait lol. Silly goose.' But that was like a red rag to Nicki who posted a series of disses about the former Glastonbury headliner's appearance, before saying she sounds like a 'fkng dead dog'. Then she questioned SZA's achievements including the recent news that her 2022 album SOS had gone nine-times platinum in less than three years. 'Justice for SZA' say Glastonbury fans as headliner is hit by more sound issues She wrote on X: 'Does Sza think she's more successful than me? Sza, if every song you've ever done vanished right now the music business wouldn't even miss you.' But SZA insisted she wouldn't be getting involved. She wrote: 'I'm the most successful I ever been. GET SOME F***ING PERSPECTIVE n BARK AT THE WALL.' Hear hear. Busy Katy smugs off Orlando HER former partner Orlando Bloom might have been branded the 'worst boyfriend ever' after he was seen gallivanting around the world with a massive grin on his face. But Katy Perry isn't letting the pain of their heartbreak, or Orlando's smug mug, get in the way of her world tour. 4 Katy Perry isn't letting Orlando Bloom get in the way of her world tour Credit: Getty The Piece Of Me singer wore this futuristic outfit as she made her homecoming at the Kia Forum in California on her Lifetimes tour. The mammoth run of shows will see her playing a gig in San Francisco tomorrow before polishing off 19 more concerts in the US before she heads to South America. Just one look at Katie's jam-packed schedule, which gives her barely more than a few days off at a time, is enough to make us mere mortals quake. But given what's happening in her personal life, being busy, maybe for the best.

Will Poulter 'splits from model girlfriend 14 years his senior and is already sparking romance rumours with Top Boy actress'
Will Poulter has reportedly quietly split from his model girlfriend who was 14 years his senior after three years together. The Bear actor, 32, and model Bobby T, 45, decided to go their separate ways earlier this year after they were first seen kissing passionately in 2022. However it seems Will has already moved on and is getting to know Top Boy actress Saffron Hocking. Last week Will was spotted looking close with the actress, 31, over lunch after the pair had been also snapped hanging out together at Glastonbury in June. An insider told The Sun: 'Will and Bobby had a great time together but at the end of the day they realised it wasn't going to last long term.' Bobby's main priority is her son and she lives in America, and while Will is sometimes there for work at other times the distance can be hard to balance. Detailing the beginning of his relationship with Saffron they continued: 'He's known Saffron for a while but they have been spending more time together recently. 'They were both hosted by Barbour at Glasto and got on like a house on fire. It's very early days and while they might be telling people they are just friends, the sparks between them are obvious to everyone.' MailOnline have contacted Will's representatives for comment. Saffron is best known for her role in the rebooted Netflix series of Top Boy as Lauryn, a pregnant mum-to-be who suffers domestic abuse before taking matters into her own hands. She was been nominated for a TV BAFTA for her role. She has also starred in Strangeways Here We Come, Marvel Disney+ series Moon Knight as well as Prime Video series Riches and The Devil's Hour. She and Will are thought to have met two years ago when they both worked on a Friend of the Earth campaign. They both attended Glastonbury with Barbour. Meanwhile Will was first seen pictured passionately kissing Bobby, real name Erin Campaneris, on the streets of West Hollywood in 2022 with an insider close to the couple saying they spent Christmas together in the UK with Will's family. Bobby has modelled since she was 15 and is currently signed to agencies Ford Models, LA Models, and New York Models. Saffron is best known for her role in the rebooted Netflix series of Top Boy as Lauryn, a pregnant mum-to-be who suffers domestic abuse before taking matters into her own hands Will, famed for his roles in Netflix series Black Mirror and Leonardo DiCaprio film, The Revenant, had also grown close to Bobby's son, Daniel, eight, who she shares with former quarterback and NFL analyst Mark Sanchez. It comes after Will looked to be experiencing a slight fashion faux pas at Wimbledon last week as his trouser legs appeared different lengths as they looked wonky, with one showing off his odd socks. Aside from his odd trousers, Will opted for a white and light blue pinstripe summer suit which he paired with a white shirt and black tie. He completed the look with a pair of smart black shoes and securing shades to his pocket. While one sock appeared to have rolled down to show off a striped border, the other remained up as he seemed to don a slightly cropped trouser.
