Eric Stonestreet is 'so happy' about his friend Travis Kelce's romance with Taylor Swift

Yahooa day ago
Eric Stonestreet is "so happy" that Travis Kelce is dating Taylor Swift. The Modern Family actor is close friends with NFL star as he is a supporter of the Kansas City Chiefs and believes that the tight end is the perfect man for the pop mega star. Eric told Page Six: "Travis is awesome. "I've known Travis for a long time, and I was so happy for him when they started dating because I know him. "She deserves a great guy, and he's a great guy." Travis and Taylor went public with their relationship in September 2023 but Eric isn't sure if he would get an invite to the pair's potential wedding. The 53-year-old actor said: "Oh my god, I don't know about that. I love both of them very much. It would obviously be amazing if that happened, but I wouldn't want to go if it wasn't the right thing. "I wouldn't want to force my way in there." Eric features in the new series Dexter: Resurrection as a serial killer and was thrilled to be asked to play such a wicked character. He said: "(The producers) thought of me right off the bat. It would be different if I'd never heard of the show before, but I'm a big fan of the show before, and these guys have a great reputation. "The fact they thought who'd be right for this would be me immediately flatters you, right? And then once I saw the material, I was in. (It's) just an awesome experience." Meanwhile, Travis feels that he has got a "lot more to prove" in the NFL as he contemplated retirement after the Kansas City Chiefs lost the Super Bowl earlier this year before opting to continue his gridiron career. The 35-year-old sports star - who will return for a 13th season with the Chiefs - said last month: "It wasn't a very tough [decision] for me. "I know I'm getting older, but at the same time I still feel like I got a lot that I can prove in this league. It really wasn't that hard of a decision for me." Travis felt hurt after losing the Super Bowl, but his passion for the sport hasn't dimmed. He said: "I love football. I don't think I really thought about it that much. My friends and family and the team and the guys and women in this building, I love coming into work every single day."

It took me 0:30 to complete today's NYT Mini. I'm quite happy with that time, especially given how much I struggled with the Across clues. I did get INSTA (I cover technology for a living, so it would have been embarrassing if I didn't). That refers to Instagram, for which you need an account to use Threads, Meta's Twitter-like app. TOWEL and HMMPH both seemed very nebulous to me. I didn't get CRAMP (thankfully), but it was on the tip of my tongue. PEA was no problem. Luckily, I was able to zip through the Down words with no problem at all. Box Office: ‘Superman' Flies to $217 Globally, ‘Jurassic World Rebirth' Crosses $500 Million, ‘Lilo & Stitch' Hits $994 Million

'Superman' ruled the box office as the comic book adventure touched down with $217 million globally. That breakdown includes $95 million overseas and $122 million domestically. Attendance was slightly softer than expected at the international box office, though box office watchers believe that's partially due to Superman's deeply patriotic roots. His motto, after all, is 'Truth, justice and the American way.' More from Variety How 'Superman' Inspired a Movie-Review War: When Is It Fair to Say That Too Much Fun Is No Fun at All? 'Superman' Soars to $122 Million, Third-Biggest Box Office Opening Weekend of 2025 'Superman' Star David Corenswet Recalls Getting 'Wildest Bruise' on His Groin During 'Epic' Flying Scene: 'There's Footage From Filming' 'Superman has always been identified as a quintessentially American character and story,' says David A. Gross, who runs the FranchiseRe movie consulting firm. 'And in some parts of the world, America is currently not enjoying its greatest popularity.' James Gunn directed the well-reviewed 'Superman,' starring David Corenswet as the Man of Steel and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. In the new movie, the optimistic hero is trying to prove to the world that he's fighting for good after the evil tech billionaire Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) attempts to public opinion against him. The $225 million-budgeted film marks an important reset in the Warner Bros.-backed DC Universe. After its last iteration of superhero movies flamed out with 'The Flash,' 'Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom' and others, Gunn and Peter Safran were hired in 2022 to overhaul DC Studios. They have outlined a 10-year-plan of interconnected stories and spinoffs, including 'Supergirl' and 'Clayface' in 2026. Global appeal will be key in the franchise's big screen longevity. In the case of 'Superman,' top-earning territories were the United Kingdom with $9.8 million, Mexico with $8.8 million, Brazil with $5.9 million and Australia with $5.3 million. The film bombed in China, earning just $6.6 million in its opening weekend. By comparison, 'Jurassic World Rebirth' opened last weekend in China with $25 million. In second place on international charts, Universal's 'Jurassic World Rebirth' collected $68 million from 82 overseas markets in its sophomore outing. Those ticket sales boost the dinosaur adventure's international tally to $297 million. 'Jurassic World Rebirth,' which rebooted the decades-old property with Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey and Mahershala Ali, has crossed the $500 million milestone globally with $529 million to date. Third place went to 'F1: The Movie,' which added $38.5 million overseas and $51.5 million in its third lap around the track. The Apple Studios racing drama, starring Brad Pitt, is impressively nearing $400 million worldwide. Revenues currently stand at $257 million overseas and $393 million globally, strengthening its position as Apple's highest grossing movie to date. In other box office news, Disney's 'Lilo & Stitch' is moments away from becoming the year's first billion-dollar release. The live-action remake has become hugely profitable, generating $579 million overseas and $994 million globally after eight weeks on the big screen. That's a relief for Disney because another big-budget offering, Pixar's 'Elio,' is cratering with $53 million internationally and $117 million worldwide. Despite positive reviews, the $150 million-budgeted film will end its theatrical run as a major money loser for the studio. Bears QB Caleb Williams' phone wallpaper is the Lombardi Trophy

Caleb Williams wallpaper on his phone. 👀📸: @_ColeBennett_ Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams has made it clear he had lofty goals for his NFL career. And despite a rocky rookie season, Williams hasn't been deterred. And he keeps a reminder of his top goal right there on his phone. In a photo shared by Cole Bennett on Instagram, Williams is tagged on a photo of a phone wallpaper that features the Lombardi Trophy, which no doubt is to remind Williams about his ultimate goal: Winning Super Bowls. Back in April 2024, Williams shared a look at his phone screen wallpaper that included motivational quotes and goals. That included being the first pick in the NFL draft (which the Bears made him) and the second was winning not one, but eight Super Bowls (as he wants to surpass the great Tom Brady). Williams' rookie season didn't go as planned in what was a chaotic environment that featured an in-season head coach firing, three different head coaches, being sacked a league-high 68 times, a 10-game losing streak and a 5-12 record. Still, Williams impressed with his impressive arm to the tune of 3,541 yards, 20 touchdowns and just six interceptions. This offseason, the Bears have prioritized building around Williams. That started with the hiring of head coach Ben Johnson to develop Williams into the star Chicago believes he can be. The Bears also overhauled the entire interior offensive line and added even more weapons that has Williams poised for a breakout season. While Chicago is far from being a Super Bowl contender, as there are still questions to be answered on both sides of the ball, there's no denying the pieces are in place that, if Williams becomes a star, the Bears could ultimately contend for a championship and achieve Williams' top goal.
