Rock star Dave Edmunds critically ill in hospital after dying in wife's arms from cardiac arrest
Rock icon Dave Edmunds is in a critical state in hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest and dying in his wife's arms before he was revived. The 81-year-old, who made Christmas number one with his hit song I Hear You Knocking, is said to have died in his wife's arms before being resuscitated. The musician is now in hospital with brain damage and severe memory loss.
Dave's devastated wife shared the news in a Facebook post, where she recalled the terrifying moment in which Dave had CPR performed on him by a nurse. In the post, she wrote: "My beloved husband of 40 years has had a major cardiac arrest".
Cici explained that Dave had "died in my arms while I desperately tried to keep him alive". She added that a nurse was with her at the time and performed "heavy CPR" on the rockstar.
Devoted wife Cici revealed the nurse said she was "gonna stop" as "Dave is gone" but Cici "refused to give up" and the nurse continued "heavy duty CPR" on the star, the Mirror reports.
She then revealed "by a miracle" Dave was revived by doctors at an intensive care unit operating room.
However, the incident has left Dave with brain damage, severe memory loss and is 'at risk' of another cardiac arrest as his wife said he has a "long journey ahead of him".
Cici also admitted she has "PTSD from the horrific experience".
She concluded the post: "Dave will have a very long journey ahead of him if he survives. We both have. But knowing that there are kind hearted people such as you all makes this tremendously difficult journey a little easier. Bless you all. Sending you all much love and light and always."
Cici was flooded with messages of love and support by fans as the comments as one wrote: "All my love, support and prayers to Dave, and please stay on your road to recovery, CiCi."
Another penned: "Sweet Cicci. The nightmare you both are going through is unimaginable... All my [heart] your way..."
A third commented: "Dear Cici, what you're both going through is unbelievable, and I hope it all comes to a happy end! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you and wish you both all the be".
Dave was born in Cardiff and had a string of hits throughout his career in the 1970s and 1980s including his Christmas number one.

Love Island couple ordered to leave the villa just hours before ITV final
One Love Island couple are being voted out of the villa by their former islanders. As we gear up for the semi-final of one of the most explosive Love Island seasons yet, two more islanders are set to be ruthlessly dumped from the villa, as they are voted out by their former friends and rivals, who aren't holding back. One couple won't make it to the final of the show, as the latest teaser reveals a tense moment where all the previously dumped Islanders return to the villa for one last, game changing decision. The official Love Island account took to Instagram to share the short clip from Sunday evening's episode, alongside the caption: "First look! Ex-Islanders return for a savage dumping, and they're not holding back." Host Maya Jama appears to have returned to the villa one last time before she gets ready for the final, and is seen entering the villa to announce the latest twist. After a dramatic slow-motion walk into the villa, Maya shouts: "Hello, hello, hello. Are you alright my loves? How was the dates? Are you all loved up? Well I have some very important news. Can you come and join me on the lawn?" The remaining couples in the villa are Yas and Jamie, Cach and Toni, Harry and Shakira, Ty and Angel, and Meg and Dejon, the Mirror reports. Maya delivers the news: "Well today, one more couple will be dumped from the Love Island villa and that decision will be made by some very familiar faces." Among the returning islanders is Sophie Lee, who joined at the start of the series and became the first to be dumped on day two. Viewers will also see the return of Tommy who was once considered a frontrunner to win, before being dumped by Shakira. The teaser sent fans into a frenzy as they speculated which couple the dumped islanders would be giving the boot. One viewer wrote: "Sorry, but after Thursday and Friday, it's gotta be Meg and Dejon. Their time is up", while another simply stated: "Harry & Shakira.. your time is up!" A third shared their thoughts and penned: "For all the years of watching Love Island, it's my first time feeling this nervous about the finals. I swear my anxiety level is through the roof." A forth fan stated: "Do the right thing and only let Yas, Jamie, or Cach near that money for goodness sake," while another expressed: "I swear if Shakira, Toni, or Yaz go home, I might have to have some therapy sessions" Only time will tell who the dumped Islanders will vote for and which couple will say their goodbyes just a day before the final. Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX, and the final will air tomorrow (August 4) at 9pm.

Another Oasis fan responded, saying they had a "panic attack" after they witnessed the tragic moment. They said: "I was block 502 row 32. I have never felt so sick in my life. I got to my seat and had a full blown panic attack which has never happened before. "I was shaking and crying. I was so scared to get down and have to go back up as it was such a high demand show. But with the state I was in, Wembley moved me to block 501 row 8. Still high up but no where near as steep. I was so grateful." Another concertgoer, in a lower tier, described seeing emergency crews rush to the spot where the fan hit concrete after the plunge. She wrote: "I was directly underneath in section 211. "At first glance I thought it was a coat falling from the above tier but then I looked and saw the bloke on the concrete. It was horrific to see." A Wembley Stadium spokesperson said: "Last night, Wembley Stadium medics, the London Ambulance Service and the police attended to a concert goer who was found with injuries consistent with a fall. Despite their efforts, the fan very sadly died. "Our thoughts go out to his family, who have been informed and are being supported by specially trained police officers. The Police have asked anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them. "Tonight's Oasis concert will go ahead as planned." The Mirror reports it has contacted both the Metropolitan police and reps for Oasis for comment.
