Ant and Dec teen drama Byker Grove to return to screens in ITV streaming deal
Craig Morris, managing editor of ITV Channels and ITVX, said: 'We are so excited to bring this iconic coming-of-age series to ITVX, marking the first TV appearances of two ITV stalwarts.
'Relive all the great moments with us later this year.'
The show also launched the careers of actors Jill Halfpenny and Donna Air, and followed the lives and relationships of young people at a youth club called the Grove in the Byker area of Newcastle.
Byker Grove was known for tackling social issues, such as drug addiction, child abuse, homophobia and abortion, and in 1994, the series featured what is thought to be the first gay kiss on UK children's TV, when character Noddy Fishwick kissed Gary Hendrix at the back of a cinema.
McPartlin and Donnelly played PJ and Duncan respectively in the series, and went on to enjoy chart success under their characters' names with eight UK top 20 singles, including the number one Let's Get Ready To Rhumble.
The show was also the starting point for former writer Catherine Johnson, who went on to pen hit musical Mamma Mia!, and Tom Hooper, who directed episodes of the show in 1997 and went on to win an Oscar for best director for his work on The King's Speech.
The show being made available for streaming comes as part of a deal with McPartlin and Donnelly's production company Mitre Studios, which owns the rights to the series.
As well as hosting ITV talent show Britain's Got Talent, the pair have also presented I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! and Ant And Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway since leaving Byker Grove.

The BBC have also reportedly commissioned a full series of a new comedy starring Mrs Brown's Boys star Brendan O'Carroll alongside Tommy Cannon. Filming on the series is due to commence in July and will air on BBC One. Titled Shedites, Mrs Brown's Boys star Brendan Carroll plays the lead role 'Jimmy', with Tommy Cannon starring as his best friend. Produced by BBC Studios, Brendan's Mrs Brown's Boys co-writer Paddy Houlihan scripted Shedites. Speaking to The Irish Sun in December 2023, Brendan shared: 'I've been advocating for the BBC to make this show for a long time because as well as being really funny, it highlights men's mental health. A TV poll in 2004 found that Blackadder was voted the second-best British sitcom of all time Absolutely Fabulous (1992 - 2012) - Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley star as failing PR guru Edina 'Eddie' Monsoon and alcoholic fashionista Patsy Stone. The pair embark on heavy-drinking sessions and abuse drugs in a desperate attempt to stay 'hip'. Eddie constantly chases bizarre fads and fails to lose weight whilst her disappointed and neglected daughter Saffy (Julia Sawalha) looks on. Little Britain (2003 - 2006) - The premise is simple. A sketch show which features different British people from all walks of life that are engaged in all sorts of comical scenarios. Starring Matt Lucas and David Walliams, the pair created iconic pop culture characters. The Catherine Tate Show (2004-2015) - A sketch show starring the likes of Catherine Tate. She made iconic characters such as rowdy schoolgirl Lauren Cooper with her line 'Am I bovvered?'. Other characters featured Bernie the nurse, the aga saga woman, complaining couple Janice and Ray, and of course her infamous 'Nan', Joannie Taylor. The last character herself spawned multiple specials and even a movie. Gavin and Stacey (2007 - Present) The series tells the story of Gavin (Matthew Horne) and Stacey (Joanna Page). The pair embarked on an online and telephone romance for six months. But when they finally decide to be together properly, their friends and family get in the way. Ruth Jones and James Corden created the beloved show, which has been going for over a decade. The 2019 Christmas special was the most-watched comedy in 17 years and the most-viewed non-sporting event in a decade. "The sitcom isn't dead but it needs a couple of Berocca. And a black americano with two sugars." News of the Mrs Browns boys return comes after Brendan O'Carroll was forced to issue a grovelling apology after he cracked a 'joke' using the N-word in front of a junior member of production who was so upset they later quit. Last year, the BBC temporarily halted filming of the show's Christmas special after Brendan made the attempted gag which he later admitted it had backfired. A TV insider said: 'Virtually everyone in the room on the day that the outburst happened were shocked, but the reading continued for some time without anyone saying or doing anything as they were so stunned. 'There was no excuses for what he said or any kind of context or mitigation he could provide for making the slur, he just seemed to think it was amusing.' Brendan said of the incident: 'At a read-through of the Mrs Brown's Boys Christmas specials, there was a clumsy attempt at a joke, where a racial term was implied. 'It backfired and caused offence, which I deeply regret and for which I have apologised.'

One of Coronation Street's longest running characters is reportedly set to be killed off in explosive scenes after being told his time on the show was coming to an end A Coronation Street icon is set to be killed off, according to reports. After 11 years on the Weatherfield cobbles, time is said to be up on Daniel Brocklebank's Billy Mayhew. And in true Corrie fashion, it's said bosses are planning an explosive exit for the long-running star. The actor behind the man of the cloth was told earlier in the year that his character was to be written out of proceedings on the ITV soap. It has now been claimed the archdeacon will be killed off in one of the biggest storylines of the festive period. According to sources, bosses don't have any plans for Daniel's character to return. "There aren't any plans to bring him back onto the soap so it makes sense make his exit the most impactful and explosive it can be," a source told the Sun. "It's likely Billy will be a focus point of the Christmas / New Year storylines, with fans expected to be at the edge of their seats in the run-up.' With little else known on his exit, fans will eagerly await any big storyline. Daniel, meanwhile previously admitted he was "sad" to be leaving the soap. He recently said: 'I have been working on 'Corrie' for a quarter of my life. "I have adored every minute I have been in that building and have never not looked forward to going into work. I love everyone who works on this show and whilst I am sad to be going, I am equally excited to see what the future holds." The actor's partner, Jordan Coulthard later admitted the decision to leave the Corrie cobbles wasn't one that was led by Daniel. He also branded his axing as a "huge mistake" by bosses. According to MailOnline, he wrote on his Instagram Story: 'Nothing to say. Not his decision. Huge mistake. I can't believe we are having this conversation. No words can express how heartbroken I am for him.' Producer Kate Brooks previously paid tribute to Daniel and his work on the show in a gushing tribute to the star. She said: "Billy will be involved in a major storyline over the coming months, which will see him tested in ways he never imagined, as friendships and his faith are pushed to the limit. "We're incredibly sad to bid farewell to Dan, who has been fantastic in some of 'Corrie's biggest storylines over the past few years, most notably Paul's MND. "An actor of immeasurable talent and skill, and an absolute treasure behind the scenes - he will be missed by all of us on the cobbles."

Given recent scenes have shown Max ignoring her calls, it seems that the two haven't been in touch for quite some time. Now Linda faces a fresh hurdle – as she realises Max's son Oscar is living across the road. It couldn't come at a worse time for the landlady, as she prepares to give up her beloved Queen Vic and move onto pastures new. The auctioneer arrives to get the boozer under the hammer, with the Slaters planning to place the winning bid with Martin Fowler's (James Bye) life insurance money. Unfortunately for Kat (Jessie Wallace), her plans to reinstate herself behind the bar are stunted by Stacey (Lacey Turner), who drops the bombshell that she can't give her the money after all. This seems to come following a mysterious message from Kat's husband Alfie Moon (Shane Richie), who is in Barcelona searching for her eldest daughter Zoe (Michelle Ryan). As the family rally around to think of a solution, Stacey has a sudden change of mind and tells Kat to head back to the pub to get bidding.
