Rahul Gandhi paid tribute to his grandmother and former PM Indira Gandhi as he arrived in Bhopal. He is set to attend various programmes in the city as a part of the Congress's 'Sangathan Srajan Abhiyan' (Organisation Rejuvenation Campaign).
According to the program schedule, Rahul Gandhi will chair a meeting of the Political Affairs Committee at the state Congress office and discuss the political situation of the state with the senior state leadership.
Thereafter, he will have interaction with MPs and MLAs and hold discussions on Sangathan Srijan with representatives. Additionally, the Congress MP will also attend a special meeting with newly appointed observers by the All India Congress Committee (AICC) in each district of the state.
Furthermore, Rahul Gandhi will participate in a meeting of Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) delegates, which includes representatives from AICC, state congress, district congress presidents and block presidents at Ravindra Bhavan Auditorium in the city.
Earlier, Madhya Pradesh Congress Chief Jitu Patwari called Gandhi the hero of the caste census and called it an important day in the history of Indian politics.
Speaking to ANI, Patwari said, 'This is an important day in the history of Indian politics. We are fortunate that Madhya Pradesh got this opportunity. As the hero of the caste census, Rahul Gandhi raised a new voice in the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP had to agree to his (Rahul Gandhi) point despite refusing. It is a matter of good fortune for us that the warrior of social justice, Rahul Gandhi, is visiting Bhopal today to start the campaign of Sangathan Srijan, laying the foundation stone.'
He said that the campaign aims to develop a new structure of the organisation, maintaining transparency from the village level to the ward level and develop new thoughts in the Congress party. (ANI)

Six committees comprising divisional commissioners and senior officers have submitted reform-oriented recommendations following extensive deliberations held earlier this year, he said. "These committees have identified essential changes required in the administrative machinery. The recommendations, backed by detailed analysis and draft government resolutions, will be implemented immediately to enhance the delivery of public services," he said. Fadnavis also assured that recruitment for appointments on compassionate grounds will be completed in 150 days, and no such post will remain vacant. He emphasised the need to revamp the District Annual Planning system, pointing out that it should not merely serve as an employment scheme but should become a tool for large-scale job creation and development. "District collectors have been recommended to be empowered to allocate up to five per cent of the total plan fund for local developmental works under their jurisdiction," he said.

India hasn't given the country's oil refiners instructions to stop buying Russian oil, according to people familiar, as officials grapple with meeting energy needs and maintaining ties with Moscow without further angering US President Donald Trump. ADVERTISEMENT No decision has been taken as yet on stopping imports from Russia, the people said, asking not to be named due to the sensitivity of the matter. Both state-run or private refiners are allowed to buy from their preferred sources, and crude purchases remain a commercial decision made by them, several of the people said. Trump blasted India on Wednesday for continuing to purchase most of its military equipment and energy from Russia. The US leader imposed a surprise 25% tariff on India and threatened an additional penalty for its close ties with Moscow. Two days later, Trump told reporters he 'heard' India would no longer be buying oil from Russia, calling it 'a good step.' India has maintained its energy purchases are driven by market forces and price. Last week, refiners were told to come up with plans for buying non-Russian crude, people familiar said to Bloomberg. The government asked state-owned processors to prepare an outline of where alternate barrels can be sourced and at what volume if Russian flows get stopped, they said. One of the people said the instruction amounted to scenario planning in case Russian crude were to become New York Times reported on Saturday that India will keep buying Russian crude despite a threat of penalties from Trump, citing two senior Indian officials it didn't identify.
