Earlier, Madhya Pradesh Congress Chief Jitu Patwari called Gandhi the hero of the caste census and called it an important day in the history of Indian politics.
Speaking to ANI, Patwari said, 'This is an important day in the history of Indian politics. We are fortunate that Madhya Pradesh got this opportunity. As the hero of the caste census, Rahul Gandhi raised a new voice in the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP had to agree to his (Rahul Gandhi) point despite refusing. It is a matter of good fortune for us that the warrior of social justice, Rahul Gandhi, is visiting Bhopal today to start the campaign of Sangathan Srijan, laying the foundation stone.'
He said that the campaign aims to develop a new structure of the organisation, maintaining transparency from the village level to the ward level and develop new thoughts in the Congress party. (ANI)

Seamless administrative support to industries can help overcome global economic challenges: Fadnavis
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has expressed confidence about overcoming global trade barriers, including the 25 per cent tariff imposed by the United States, saying seamless administrative support to industries can help deal with international economic challenges. The United States on Friday slapped a 25 per cent tariff on India, potentially impacting about half of the USD 86 billion Indian exports to America. Speaking at a two-day administrative conference at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Nagpur, Fadnavis on Saturday said, "If we provide seamless administrative support to our industries, we can overcome any international economic challenge." He said that the state government will soon implement key reforms aimed at providing citizens with efficient and responsive governance. Six committees comprising divisional commissioners and senior officers have submitted reform-oriented recommendations following extensive deliberations held earlier this year, he said. "These committees have identified essential changes required in the administrative machinery. The recommendations, backed by detailed analysis and draft government resolutions, will be implemented immediately to enhance the delivery of public services," he said. Fadnavis also assured that recruitment for appointments on compassionate grounds will be completed in 150 days, and no such post will remain vacant. He emphasised the need to revamp the District Annual Planning system, pointing out that it should not merely serve as an employment scheme but should become a tool for large-scale job creation and development. "District collectors have been recommended to be empowered to allocate up to five per cent of the total plan fund for local developmental works under their jurisdiction," he said.

Americans furious as Miami hotel hires Indian virtual receptionist over local staff: 'Is this how you do business in the USA?'
Indians are making waves across the globe, but a virtual Indian receptionist at a Miami hotel wasn't on anyone's 2025 bingo card. La Quinta Inn in Miami is now facing backlash after it was revealed that guests are being checked in via video call by staff based in India, rather than by local front desk employees. While some social media users applauded the efficiency, many criticised the move, arguing the hotel should be hiring locally to support the community and boost the U.S. job market. Miami Inn under fire for outsourcing front desk jobs to India La Quinta Inn in Miami is facing major backlash after a video showed the hotel has outsourced its front desk operations to India. Instead of being greeted by a local receptionist, guests are now welcomed via video call by a virtual representative based thousands of miles away. In the now-viral video, an Indian man connected virtually is seen guiding the guest through the process. The move has sparked criticism from locals, with many seeing it as part of a growing trend of American jobs being sent overseas. Locals argue that the hotel should be hiring locally to support the community and provide employment opportunities within the U.S. 🔥🚨BREAKING: This La Quinta Inn hotel located in Miami is under massive fire after they hired employees located in India to check guests in instead of having Americans at the front desk. Outrage online as Miami hotel checks in guests from India Furious netizens slammed the hotel for outsourcing jobs abroad instead of supporting local workers. One user tagged the hotel, writing, "Is this how you do business in the USA? You prefer to hire employees of a third-world country rather than employees of a first-world country to save pennies?" "This is almost comical at this point. India needs to be paying Americans to have to deal with them," another said. Im sorry to have to say this but from now and until 2035 we will see this gradually until millions of jobs worldwide is replaced by Automation. They tell us we will have new jobs and education, and they hint at possible universal income, but I have my doubts 😔 One user mentioned, "I'm sorry to have to say this, but from now until 2035 we will see this gradually until millions of jobs worldwide are replaced by Automation. Outsourcing saves money, but at what cost to community trust and local opportunity? Why U.S. rely so heavily on Indian talent Indian professionals make up a significant portion of the U.S. workforce, thanks to their strong technical skills and educational background, particularly in STEM fields. This trend has only accelerated in recent years, with increasing demand for expertise in areas like software development, data science, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence. According to Financial Express, more than 70% of all H-1B work visas in 2023 were granted to Indian applicants, underscoring the vital role they play in sustaining U.S. innovation and competitiveness. This reliance, however, has also sparked debates around job availability, immigration policies, and the need to balance domestic hiring with international talent acquisition. Still, industry experts agree that without access to global talent, particularly from India, the U.S. tech ecosystem would face significant slowdowns in growth and innovation. India hasn't given refiners directions to stop buying Russia oil
India hasn't given the country's oil refiners instructions to stop buying Russian oil, according to people familiar, as officials grapple with meeting energy needs and maintaining ties with Moscow without further angering US President Donald Trump. ADVERTISEMENT No decision has been taken as yet on stopping imports from Russia, the people said, asking not to be named due to the sensitivity of the matter. Both state-run or private refiners are allowed to buy from their preferred sources, and crude purchases remain a commercial decision made by them, several of the people said. Trump blasted India on Wednesday for continuing to purchase most of its military equipment and energy from Russia. The US leader imposed a surprise 25% tariff on India and threatened an additional penalty for its close ties with Moscow. Two days later, Trump told reporters he 'heard' India would no longer be buying oil from Russia, calling it 'a good step.' India has maintained its energy purchases are driven by market forces and price. Last week, refiners were told to come up with plans for buying non-Russian crude, people familiar said to Bloomberg. The government asked state-owned processors to prepare an outline of where alternate barrels can be sourced and at what volume if Russian flows get stopped, they said. One of the people said the instruction amounted to scenario planning in case Russian crude were to become New York Times reported on Saturday that India will keep buying Russian crude despite a threat of penalties from Trump, citing two senior Indian officials it didn't identify. An oil ministry spokesperson didn't reply to messages from Bloomberg seeking comment outside of regular business hours. ADVERTISEMENT India's refiners have been singled out by the European Union and the US for supporting Moscow during its war in Ukraine with the oil purchases. It has become the world's biggest buyer of Russian seaborne exports of crude, soaking up discounted barrels and ramping up its purchases from almost zero to about one-third of its or stopping Russian oil purchases would force India to source oil once again from Gulf nations — which costs a premium — and New Delhi isn't keen on adding to its import bill, one of the people said. ADVERTISEMENT Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi maintains close ties with Russian President Vladimir Putin, having visited the country in October. Putin is scheduled to visit India later this year. State-owned Indian Oil Corp. bought at least 5 million barrels US crude, on top of 2 million barrels of supplies from Abu Dhabi, traders told Bloomberg last week. The purchases were both large and for relatively immediate delivery by the company's usual standards. (You can now subscribe to our Economic Times WhatsApp channel)
