Egypt looks forward to becoming major industrial hub for American industries, President Sisi
The delegation was headed by CEO and President of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Suzanne Clark and Chairman of the US-Egypt Business Council and CEO of Apache Corporation John J. Christmann.
Also present were Prime Minister Dr. Moustafa Madbouly, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport Eng. Kamel El-Wazir, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Dr. Badr Abdel-Atty and Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Eng. Hassan El-Khatib.
The Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said the President first met with Ms. Clark and Mr. Christmann before being joined by the members of the delegation.
The President expressed Egypt's readiness to cooperate with the American business community and investors in all economic fields of mutual interest, in light of US President Trump's support to enhancing cooperation between Egyptian and American companies.
President El-Sisi affirmed that Egypt looked forward to becoming a major industrial hub for American industries, also serving as a large market and a gateway to the Arab region and the African continent, in light of the strong relations Egypt shares with the continent's countries.
The President also affirmed that Egypt looked forward to establishing an American industrial zone in the Suez Canal Economic Zone and emphasized that Egypt was ready to provide all the necessary facilities to American investors, noting that investing in Egypt is an opportunity for any investor, as it enjoys both political and societal stability, based on the awareness of citizens and their resilience in enduring the major and harsh economic reforms that were implemented to achieve the public interest, in light of the difficult political circumstances that the region is experiencing and their ensuing repercussions.
Clark noted that the delegation's visit to Egypt confirms the strength and solidity of the strategic alliance between Egypt and the USA.
She explained that American companies operating in Egypt have achieved significant successes and contributed to the development process in Egypt, and are considered a model to be emulated in the success of cooperation between the two countries, similar to the Apache Corporation. This was highly valued by the President, who expressed his appreciation for the success of Apache's business in Egypt and the expansion of its scope of work.

Apparel, textile chambers engage with Chinese delegation to explore investment opportunities in Egypt
The Egyptian Chamber of Apparel and Home Textile Industries (ECAHT) and the Textile Industries Chamber at the Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI) recently hosted a high-level Chinese delegation comprising 15 representatives from both public and private sectors. The meeting aimed to explore avenues for boosting investment in Egypt's burgeoning garments and textile sectors. During the discussions, the Chinese delegation underscored the significant potential within the Egyptian market, emphasizing the availability of a young and skilled labor force alongside Egypt's extensive network of trade agreements with major global economic blocs. These advantages, they noted, provide strong incentives for Chinese investors to swiftly establish a presence in the country. Shaimaa Bahaa El Din, Director of International Affairs & Development Partners' Relations at the FEI, welcomed all forms of collaboration and affirmed the readiness of Egyptian business leaders to promptly engage in new economic partnerships in accordance with Egyptian laws. She highlighted the flexibility of investment models available, including partnerships, acquisitions, or the establishment of new manufacturing facilities. Hany Kadah, Executive Director of the ECAHT, emphasized Egypt's keen interest in sourcing production inputs and fabrics from China. He noted that the Chamber represents over 10,000 registered ready-made garment factories in Egypt. Kadah further pointed out Egypt's strategic advantage stemming from trade agreements with key blocs across Asia, the Americas, and Africa, making the country an attractive destination for Chinese investment. He also highlighted the success of the Chinese industrial zone TEDA in Egypt, which currently hosts major Chinese investments, and stressed the importance of maintaining effective and continuous communication channels to address any challenges. Kadah added that Egypt's labor force is readily available but requires additional training, referencing the presence of many Turkish garment factories that operate in Egypt and export products made by Egyptian workers. Khaled El-Behairy, Executive Director of the Textile Industries Chamber, noted that the dyeing, finishing, spinning, and weaving sectors encompass 14,000 members within the chamber. He emphasized the mutual benefits of Chinese investments, where China gains from Egypt's labor force, abundant energy resources, and trade agreements, while Egypt benefits through job creation, increased Chinese investment, and higher export volumes. Li Xin, Vice President of the China National Garment Association (CNGA), expressed that Chinese investors are actively expanding their overseas investments, with a strong focus on increasing their footprint in Africa—particularly in Egypt. He highlighted Egypt as a key investment destination amid global shifts in trade policies and customs tariffs, supported by the availability of competitive labor costs that position Egypt for significant Chinese investment growth in the near future. Xin also provided an overview of China's garment industry, which consists of 195,000 companies employing 20 million workers and generating total sales of CNY 4.5 trillion. He explained that many Chinese companies have recently relocated portions of their operations abroad, particularly to East Asia, in response to evolving global economic dynamics.

Egyptian president follows up on initiatives to counter extremist thought
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi on Monday reviewed the Ministry of Awqaf's (Religious Endowments) efforts to renew religious discourse and combat extremism, his office said in a statement. The president met with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Awqaf Minister Usama Al-Azhari, who presented a report on the ministry's initiatives. Al-Azhari briefed the president on the 'Correct Your Concepts' awareness initiative, which he described as a cornerstone of the ministry's strategy to build enlightened religious and societal awareness. The initiative aims to correct misconceptions and counter forms of non-religious extremism that contribute to the decline of values and ethics in society. President Al-Sisi directed the continuous follow-up of the initiative's implementation mechanisms to ensure its national objectives are met, in coordination with state institutions and civil society. The president also followed up on the latest developments in formulating a strategic vision for renewing religious discourse. Al-Azhari explained that the strategy consists of four main pillars: confronting religious extremism in all its forms, confronting all forms of non-religious extremism represented by the decline of values and negative behaviours, human development, and civilization building. The minister presented the 'Renewal of Religious Discourse' document, which includes executive measures for each of the previous pillars, aiming to formulate a rational religious discourse that promotes values of peace, security, and tolerance. Al-Azhari also presented the ministry's new digital platform, which is part of its efforts to counter extremist thought and enhance awareness. The platform includes various sections covering different aspects of Islamic and encyclopedic sciences, as well as initiatives to rationalise behaviour and address negative phenomena in society such as bullying, harming people with disabilities, drug abuse, and vandalism of public property. The minister also discussed future plans to develop the platform, including converting its content into visual and audio formats for social media and utilising artificial intelligence technologies. The meeting also covered the latest developments in the 'Al-Aswat' (The Voices) competition, which aims to discover the best voices in Quranic recitation, religious invocations, and chanting. The Egyptian President directed continued coordination with the relevant authorities to enhance the capabilities of imams, qualify distinguished personnel capable of facing challenges and improving the level of religious discourse, and develop communication mechanisms, especially in combating extremist thought and consolidating awareness of contemporary issues.
