HBO bosses update fans with major new Harry Potter series announcement

Production has begun on HBO's highly anticipated Harry Potter television series as new cast members have been announced.
The series is set to debut in 2027 on HBO and HBO Max where it's available, including in upcoming launch markets Germany, Italy, and the UK.
Author J. K. Rowling, who maintains residence in Edinburgh and based characters and locations from the franchise on the Scottish capital, is involved in the new series, serving as executive producer.
New cast members have been announced for several roles as production launches at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, UK.
Casting for the franchise's beloved trio was announced earlier this year with newcomers Dominic McLaughlin landing the lead role of Harry Potter, while Arabella Stanton comes in for Hermione, and Alastair Stout will play Ron.

Now, more rising stars have joined the cast with newcomers Rory Wilmot announced as Neville Longbottom and Amos Kitson as Dudley Dursley.
Louise Brealey will play the wizard PE and broom instructor Madam Rolanda Hooch, with Anton Lesser as wand maker Garrick Ollivander.
New department heads have also been announced including Adriano Goldman as Director of Photography, Cate Hall as Hair and Makeup Designer, Paul Herbert as Stunt Coordinator, Mark Holt as SFX Supervisor, Mara LePere-Schloop as Production Designer, Naomi Moore as Set Decorator, John Nolan as Creature Effects Design Supervisor, Alexis Wajsbrot as VFX Supervisor, Dom Sidoli as VFX Producer, and previously announced Holly Waddington Costume Designer.
The series was written and executive produced by Francesca Gardiner and will be directed by Mark Mylod, famed director of "Succession".

Best Limited or Anthology Series were Adolescence, Black Mirror, Dying for Sex, Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story and The Penguin. Two categories were announced early on CBS Mornings. The nominees for talk series are The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Jimmy Kimmel Live and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. The nominees for reality competition series are: The Amazing Race, RuPaul´s Drag Race, Survivor, Top Chef and The Traitors. Last year, the British Netflix production 'Baby Reindeer' was surprisingly dominant in the limited series categories. This year, it will surprise no one if the Netflix British crime drama 'Adolescence' does the same in the same categories. It was probably the most acclaimed show of the year. Fifteen-year-old Owen Cooper, who plays the 13-year-old accused of a killing at the center of the story, is likely to get one of several acting nominations. All the shows are living in the splintered world of the streaming era, and the like the Oscars its most acclaimed nominees rarely have the huge audience they once did. While an impressive average of 10 million people per episode watched Wyle on 'The Pitt' at some point on HBO Max, according to Warner Bros. Discovery, 30 years ago an average of 30 million sat down on the same night and watched him on 'ER' on NBC.

Nick Frost becomes Hagrid for new Harry Potter series
The first image of actor Nick Frost in character as Hagrid has been revealed, as filming of the new Harry Potter TV series gets under way. Production of the HBO TV show version of the popular fantasy novels is taking place at Warner Bros Studios Leavesden in Watford, Hertfordshire. On Tuesday, HBO released the image of Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, complete with long, wild mane of wavy brown hair and beard. He is wearing a long, dark green coat, with a dark green striped shirt just visible underneath. Frost, who is best known for British comedy films Hot Fuzz and Shaun Of The Dead, is playing the role of the friendly groundskeeper in the series, who was played by the late Scottish actor Robbie Coltrane in the films. It comes after HBO announced on Monday that young actor Rory Wilmot will perform the role of Harry's school friend Neville Longbottom, while Amos Kitson has been cast as his cousin Dudley Dursley. Meanwhile, Sherlock actress Louise Brealey is to play Hogwarts Quidditch coach Madam Rolanda Hooch, and Game Of Thrones star Anton Lesser will be wand-maker Garrick Ollivander. Those previously announced include award-winning US actor John Lithgow as Hogwarts headmaster Professor Albus Dumbledore, Welsh comedian and actor Paul Whitehouse as caretaker Argus Filch, and Rivals actress Katherine Parkinson as Molly Weasley. Each season of the show will be a faithful adaptation of the Harry Potter books, from author and executive producer JK Rowling. It follows the popular film adaptations that starred Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint as the protagonists. The series is set to hit TV screens in 2027 on HBO and HBO Max.
