Penang police arrest four men with RM53,500 drugs in Seberang Jaya, Gurun
Acting state police chief Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin said the operation, conducted by the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID), took place between 4 pm on Sunday and 5 am yesterday. The suspects, aged between 32 and 61, were detained in separate locations.
In the first raid, three men were apprehended in a parking lot in Seberang Jaya. A search of their vehicle uncovered two canvas bags containing 10 packets of compressed ganja leaves weighing 9,920 grams.
A follow-up operation in Gurun led to the arrest of another suspect. Police found a sack with seven packets of suspected ganja (6,995 grams), four packets of heroin (30.34 grams), and three packets of methamphetamine (3.45 grams).
Mohd Alwi stated that the syndicate sourced its supply from regional drug networks, repackaging and distributing the narcotics in Penang since May. The seized drugs could potentially supply 35,000 addicts.
All suspects have been remanded for seven days under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. - Bernama

JOHOR BAHRU, July 26 (Bernama) -- Two enforcement officers were arrested at the Bangunan Sultan Iskandar (BSI) Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) Complex here last night for alleged involvement in a 'Flying Passport' misconduct. The practice typically refers to the misuse of passports, including clearing them illegally without the holders being physically present. Malaysia Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) BSI CIQ commander Roszita Dim said the suspects, a 31-year-old officer and a 49-year-old supervisor, were detained at 9 pm following surveillance by the agency's Compliance Unit. She said surveillance at 7.30 pm detected several suspicious visitor data entries using the user identification (ID) of an officer manning the car zone counter. 'The unit also detected foreign visitor records classified as problematic, requiring error correction by the on-duty supervisor and clearance of these records using the supervisor's user ID at the motorcycle zone,' she told a press conference at the CIQ today. Further inspection at the car counter uncovered RM2,800 in cash and two mobile phones in the officer's possession. Interrogation led to the discovery of 11 Chinese passports and three Indonesian passports hidden in a black bag above the ceiling of another counter. Roszita said two additional mobile phones were also seized from the motorcycle zone supervisor's counter. Both suspects were handed over to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Johor at about 10 am today for further action. The case has also been reported to the AKPS Integrity Unit in Putrajaya. 'Our surveillance was carried out for about a week. Whether this misconduct involves a syndicate is still under investigation,' she added.

MUAR, July 25 (Bernama) -- The public is urged to remain vigilant against fraudulent links circulated by scammers related to the one-off RM100 cash assistance under the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) initiative, which are designed to collect personal information, said Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching. She said the scammers often employ deceptive tactics by sharing links accompanied by posters that appear convincing, incorporating official-looking elements such as the Malaysia MADANI and Bersama Malaysiaku logos to mislead recipients. 'One such example is the link which falsely claims to provide official information about the RM100 SARA aid and prompts users to submit their personal information. The Ministry of Finance confirmed yesterday that this link is fake,' she said.
