"The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping" is based on the most recent novel in the series by Suzanne Collins. The film will be directed by Francis Lawrence from a script by Billy Ray. Lawrence has helmed all of "The Hunger Games" films save for the very first one, which was directed by Gary Ross.
Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpsonare are producing. Cameron MacConomy will executive produce.
About Close's casting, Jacobson said, "Glenn Close is a dream Drusilla. She brings so much of her intellect and imagination to each role, creating characters who are unforgettable and iconic. I think Glenn and Francis will have a ball bringing Drusilla from the page to the screen."
Jacobson also commented on Porter, adding, "Billy is one of those rare performers who can dazzle and devastate in equal measure on stage and screen. He made an indelible impression on me when we worked together on 'Pose', both as an actor and a human being."
"Casting this show has felt like winning the lottery every time one of our idols said yes to us. To be able to announce Glenn Close and Billy Porter together is an embarrassment of riches that we can all celebrate."
Like its predecessor, "The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes", "Sunrise on the Reaping" is a prequel. It takes place 24 years before the events of the first "Hunger Games" novel. The more recent novel, which released on March 18, opens on the morning of the reaping of the Fiftieth Hunger Games.
"The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping" will be the sixth film in "The Hunger Games series. So far, the films have amassed $3.3 billion at the box office.

Anne Hathaway stuns in first look at 'The Devil Wears Prada 2': See the photo

Gird your loins: Andy Sachs is back! Anne Hathaway has released a first look photo teasing her character's return in the highly anticipated sequel to "The Devil Wears Prada." "Andy Sachs 2025," she captioned the photo released on Instagram, which shows the Oscar winner beaming in a pinstripe vest and trousers, paired with black boots and a pearl necklace. Hathaway also posted a TikTok on Monday, July 21, which showed her brushing her teeth in a bathroom while wearing a blue sweater, much like her character Andy wore in the original 2006 movie. "Heading to werk," she captioned the clip. Meryl Streep is also confirmed to be returning to star in "The Devil Wears Prada 2," which is scheduled for release in 2026. Original stars Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci will also be back, with Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux and B.J. Novak fleshing out the cast. Hathaway starred in the first "Devil Wears Prada" as a personal assistant to Streep's fashion magazine editor character, Miranda Priestly. The film, based on the book of the same name, grossed more than $300 million at the worldwide box office and earned Streep an Academy Award nomination for best actress. David Frankel, the director of the original "Devil Wears Prada," is returning for the sequel, and the original movie's screenwriter, Aline Brosh McKenna, also came back to write the script. "The Devil Wears Prada 2" will give Hathaway the opportunity to revisit one of her most iconic early roles, 20 years later. The first movie hit theaters just five years after she made her feature film debut with 2001's "The Princess Diaries." 'The Devil Wears Prada 2' release date "The Devil Wears Prada 2" is set for release on May 1, 2026. It will kick off a big summer for Hathaway, who is also starring in Christopher Nolan's "The Odyssey," which hits theaters in July 2026.

What Is The Trisha Paytas Baby Theory, And How Does It Involve Trump?

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. YouTuber Trisha Paytas is expecting their third child with Moses Hacmon. There has long been a bizarre, viral theory about Paytas' children, and their third pregnancy is no different. This time, though, it involves President Donald Trump. Newsweek has reached out to Paytas via email for comment. The Context The original social media theory emerged in September 2022, shortly after Queen Elizabeth II passed away at the age of 96. In the hours that preceded the death of the longest-reigning monarch in British history, a number of users on Twitter (Now known as X) pointed out that Paytas had earlier announced that they had gone into labor with their first child, a girl. Social media users then decided that Paytas' child was the reincarnation of the monarch. This theory has only gained traction over the years, with social media users speculating earlier this year that the child Paytas is currently pregnant with will be the reincarnation of Pope Franics, who died in April at the age of 88. What To Know Paytas, 37, is non-binary and is a YouTube sensation who gained popularity online for lifestyle videos and has been associated with a plethora of controversies over the years. She is the host of the podcast Just Trish. Paytas' first child, a daughter named Malibu Barbie, was born in 2022, and Paytas later welcomed their second child, a daughter named Elvis Paytas-Hacmon, on May 24, 2024. Paytas' third child is due to be born this month, and as the birth of this child approaches, internet speculation about who this child will be the reincarnation of has become rampant. Morefor Empire State Realty Trust/On a certain corner of the Internet, people have made it clear they want it to be Trump. In one TikTok video, viewed 11 million times as of reporting, the social media user @ wrote, "Trisha hasn't posted in days, Trumps health is getting worse if my girl pulls this one off i may just become religious." The reference to Trump's health comes after the White House announced last week that Trump has been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency (CVI). Trump, 79, is the oldest person to serve a second term and has faced intensifying scrutiny over his age and cognitive fitness. CVI is a condition in which the veins in the legs are unable to efficiently return blood to the heart. It is generally not considered to be life-threatening, but it can impact quality of life if it is left untreated. Despite this, some corners of the Internet have run with the line that Trump's health is worsening, and this has overlapped with the corner of the Internet pushing the Paytas baby theory. The social media user @roastbeefsupremacy posted on TikTok, "Trump is sick and Trisha Paytas is pregnant... let the games begin." This video has been viewed over 950,000 times as of reporting and is captioned "@trishapaytas please do this ONE this thing for me." Paytas has previously commented on the viral theory. Speaking on their podcast shortly after Pope Francis died, they said, "I just don't get it.... He's not in the British monarchy. Is it just any influential person that dies get to come reincarnated as my baby?" What People Are Saying Trisha Paytas, speaking on their podcast: "I don't understand why my womb is carrying all of these souls." @matheeusias68 in a TikTok video viewed 3.7 million times: "Trump has been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency and Trisha Paytas is expecting her third child this months LORD WE ARE READY." What's Next Paytas is likely to share the news of the birth of their child on social media.

'Predator: Badlands' Trailer Teases The Ultimate Hunt

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek's network of contributors 20th Century studios has just released a new trailer for "Predator: Badlands," the latest entry in the "Predator" cinematic franchise, and one that turns the usual premise on its head. Along with a lot more action, this new trailer features more of Elle Fanning as Thia, a Weyland-Yutani android accompanying the Yautja hunter Dek (Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi) on his hunt. You can watch the trailer below. Read More: 'Spinal Tap II' Teases Huge Rock Star Cameos Among the new things we get to see in this trailer is the predator Dek speaking in his native tongue, "I am prey to no one!" In most "Predator" movies the aliens merely record the dialogue of their prey and play it back at them, however director Dan Trachtenberg decided an actual language needed to be developed for "Badlands." Elle Fanning as Thia and Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi as Dek in "Predator: Badlands." Elle Fanning as Thia and Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi as Dek in "Predator: Badlands." 20th Century Studios Among the new action sequences teased in the trailer, we see a clash toward the end of the preview between a very large beast and someone in a beefy mech suit. It's hard not to be reminded of Sigourney Weaver's fight with the Xenomorph Queen in 1986's "Aliens." The most obvious thing setting "Badlands" apart from previous "Predator" entries is that it's the first to feature one of the titular aliens as the protagonist. The Yautja hunter Dek is an outcast from his tribe who hunts a seemingly unkillable prey, aided by the android Thia. "Predator: Badlands" is directed by Dan Trachtenberg and produced by John Davis, Trachtenberg, Marc Toberoff, Ben Rosenblatt, Brent O'Connor. It is a rich time for "Predator" fans. "Badlands" follows the streaming release in June of the animated anthology film "Predator: Killer of Killers" which earned acclaim from critics and fans alike. The anthology followed three different Yautja hunters in three different historical times, hunting Vikings, Japanese ninja, and World War II pilots respectively. It also canonized the name of the "Predator" alien species as "Yautja," something that had only been used previously in expanded universe media like comics and novels. Speaking of comics, "Predator" media has also been very busy on the comic book stands. The crossover miniseries "Predator Vs. Spider-Man" just came to a conclusion and the new miniseries "Predator Kills the Marvel Universe" is on the way. In the meantime, Marvel has also released the anthology comic "Predator: Black, White & Blood."
